What a pain in the neck...........

Well it's been a while, I have been away since last week thursday.....wow.

See life is crazy and life is busy and then there's stuff bugging me and hurting me so I tend to not get a chance to be on the computer.

About 3 weeks ago, I woke up in the middle of the night and pulled a muscle on my neck....now you know I've always had issues with the right side, my shoulder and arm hurt a lot when I try to sleep on it and then once a year I'll be doing good ol' normal stuff, like cleaning or mopping or something and I will pull a certain muscle and not be able to move for a week or so.

Well this time, I pulled the muscle on my right side of the neck and it hurt for a week, then the move came up and it was just Curt and I doing everything so I think I just made it worse and THEN we took the kids to the carnival on base and I went on 3 rides with them. One of the rides was this ship kinda thing that pulls you to the right side and spins you......the whole time this ride is going your neck is strained trying to stay straight.

So now it's been about 3 weeks and I wake up every morning really stiff and sore on the right side of my neck and upper back, it goes away during the day but it does if I try to look over my shoulders.

I think it also doesn't help that our mattress is 10 years old and my pillow is old too, it's pretty much non existant, it's so flat and so uncomfortable that I throw on a smaller pillow and sleep on that. ALL of this together has made it impossible for my poor neck and back to recover....needless to say I haven't been in the greatest of moods and haven't felt like doing much or being on the computer.

I went out and bought one of those therapeutic pillows for the neck and spine and I've slathered on Tiger Balm about an hour ago and it really does seem to be helping.

Please say a little prayer that this neck strain goes away once and for all, I'm literally SICK of it.

My lemon tree is thriving and almost every single day we have another lemon on the ground, I'm quickly filling up my refrigerator with them......so I realized, it's time to put them to good use.

I just finished making some Lemon Bars and I'll have the recipe up on the food blog later.

Jasmine had a sleepover this past friday, the girls have a lot of fun together but boy is there bickering at times. One minute they're all playing well and the next someone is yelling or fighting or crying LOL

But they did have fun putting on a fashion show and playing Scene It.

I make those lemon bars frequently- so good!
I feel for your neck and it's amazing how much you notice that you move your neck when it hurts.
Hope it goes away soon.

I hate it when I throw my neck and back out, which I do far too frequently. Get a friend to give you a massage!

Thanks for posting that Mexican Chicken Soup. It looks yummy!

I'm a faithful lurker, but don't think I've commented before. Two things, though: First, ICE your neck, not heat. I write that as I am sitting with an ice pack on my neck. :) Second, did you know you can stick whole lemons in the freezer? Yup, my grandma taught me that...she had a huge tree and we'd keep a bunch of lemons in the freezer so we could make fresh lemonade all year round. Marvelous. My mouth waters thinking of those lemons. (grin)

I'll be praying for a very quick end to your pain in the neck!

We have a really old mattress and I have been thinking of getting one of those pillows too -- I get neck, back, and head pain (different from headache) a lot.

How fun to have lemons!
I hope you feel better soon.

I learned the hard way with my girls to always make sure there's an even number so no one gets left out! Three girls just never worked for us b/c one got left out.

My husband can commiserate about the neck pain with you. He woke up this morning not being able to move it really, so here I am, driving him to the doctor today. I don't even know if I am allowed to drive, but I did it anyhow.

I hope yours feels better soon.

I had some serious neck pain about 6 months ago...I feel for you! It WOULD NOT go away, no matter what I did. I finally broke down and went to get a massage. That helped it start to go away--try it!

I love the rundown of your day: "What I'm Doing, What's For Dinner, What I'm Watching." That's such a cute way to re-cap the day! And i cannot WAIT to go see the recipe for those lemon bars. Mmmmm....lemon....

Incidentally, how has The Move been going??? I've scanned for a post about it but can't see anything. Did I miss any updates? I hope you're surviving. Knowing you, I'm sure you're more organized & structured during a move than I am in regular, everyday life!

Your blog is one of my very top, top favorites. I just love it.

You sound like me. I am always getting a pain somewhere. Once I had this pain in my hip for months and one night I woke up and I heard a pop and never felt this pain again. Do you know for almost a year the doctors couldn't figure it out, I guess it was somehow not in place.

Then I get a pain in my ankle every few months and it is hard to walk.

Sometimes it is my left underarm that gets strained.

Anyway I hope you are feeling better. I have a pillow like yours and I love it. I am so hooked on it I will never be able to sleep on anything else. Can you pack this to bring to South Africa?

The lemons and the lemon bars look so yummy. Boy does that tree produce one heck of a crop.

Sounds like Jasmine had a nice sleep over. You are such a nice mommy.

Sandra! Tell Curtis you want a matress!!! ((Ground him from the computer!! hehe))

I hope you feel better soon, doll! Kelly takes gel ibuprofin tabs, because as we all know military people swear by ibuprofin. :P Anyways -- they help his muscle pain out. Maybe it would help you, too.

We miss you guys, hopefully soon we'll be able to play games with you guys again!! :)

Hugs!

Glad you posted, was worried about ya! Hope that muscle ache eases up soon. I haven't been updating my blog either because I've had an MS symptoms come on which is double vision. It's annoying as heck and I have to close one eye most of the time to see or read clearly. Means I can't drive for awhile until it heals up.

MMMmmmmm those lemmon bars sound great!! It's fun having an orchard right in the backyard, isn't it! LOL

Seems like a lot of that pain stuff, going around. -sigh- My husband hurt a nerve in his hip, a couple of weeks ago. And it's still hurting.

I had him go to doc, who figured what he'd done and told him what we all know... it will go away, eventually. But not yet. -sigh-

I certainly hope your new pillow was of help to your poor neck and etc.

I just found your blog tonight. Had to comment on your neck pain. Try rubbing castor oil on it. You will be amazed at how well it works. My neck use to be very stiff but as long as I rub castor oil on it every night I am fine. Try it. Just had to share.
