Rain and more Rain

2009_07200023

Remember how yesterday I was saying that it was so hot here and we could really use some rain?

I guess my wishes were answered because by afternoon we had this huge fluffy dark clouds moving in and then the wonderful sound, you know the thunder and the cracking of the lighting followed by the scent of earth and big fat drops falling all over.

I was so happy to see that rain, I think for me, rain will always be one of my simple pleasures.

It rained all night and then it rained some more this morning, now it's gone but I can't help feeling sad and wanting more.

I'm just waiting to see the skies turn this beautiful color again.

So you may be wondering what I've been up to, I haven't exactly been blogging much or visiting any blogs have I? I'll try to catch up with everyone today.

I've been taking it easy, enjoying the last few weeks of Summer before schools starts again, spending loads of time with my kiddos, cooking and baking, watching movies and old tv shows and reading....boy have I been reading.

There's a ton of book reviews coming up for you guys soon and some of them you even have a chance of winning a copy for yourself, for now you can go and enter my current giveaway which is running until Sunday. I also have some great Christian books to read and review, I'm super excited about sharing those with you all.

Life just flies by, there's days that I feel like there are not enough hours for everything I want to achieve, but I've learned to just let it go and not fuss about it, there's always tomorrow.

A couple of you emailed me and asked why my blog doesn't get as many comments as it used to and quite frankly I have no clue. It may just be the summer and people being busy and not having time to read or maybe tastes have changed and some have moved on?

It doesn't bother me, it used to, when I first start blogging I wanted so badly to make sure I posted something that would try and garner a bunch of comments but then I quickly realized that even with blogging, there's cliques and groups and it's something I've never enjoyed and steered clear of in school so I'm about to embark on that now.

This blog is a reflection of me and what I do on a daily basis, it's a place for my family and catch up and stay up to date and I think that's what I concentrate on, just being me and if I get a lot of comments that's great but if I don't that's fine too, there are some ladies who have been my readers for years now and they drop in often and I think that's what matters, right?

I'm stepping off the soapbox now, I'm so not into speeches LOL

I'm off to get dinner started, I'm making Chicken Pot Pie and for dessert a Blender Pie, then it's more laundry folding and ironing, cleaning up and bathes and bedtime and tv and all of that.

I do hope you're all having a blessed day and enjoying your summer!

I think the "blogosphere" tends to slow down in the summer in general. Also, I read a lot of blogs but don't always comment, so I am guilty of that, LOL!

Sandra,Vacations, nice summer days lend to people spending more time out side,so blog visits and comments are down, and some of us just do not have the will to visit or comment as much as we normally do.

What a cool sky picture!
I think it's just quieter in the summer. My comments are down too and I know that I'm doing more reading and less commenting because I seem to be busy a lot!

I agree that blogging shouldn't be about the number of comments, but the simple pleasure it brings to share your life.

I have noticed that there aren't as many blog post out there as there have been in the past. Some have said it is because of facebook. I don't know about that because facebook is a much different beast then blogging. I do think that alot of it has to do with it being summer. It seems to be flying by at an incredible speed this year. I don't always comment, but I do enjoy your blog and stop by daily.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

I'm still here! Still doing Happy Homemaker Monday but I keep forgetting to do the Mr. Linky :-/

I think your blog has the same effect on me that rain does for you! Calming and focused on the little things that are really the big things.

I am so making that chicken this week, maybe tomorrow!!

You have such a lovely blog, Sandra. I'm sure the slowdown is because it's Summer, and people are out and about more.

MMMMM...chicken pot pie sounds so good! I'm curious about your blender pie. Hope you post pictures of it. Have a great weeK!

I'm another daily reader, but I don't post here (or anywhere) unless I feel I have something important to add to the conversation.
I love your photos, your recipies, and your stories of your family. They bring back so many memories of when my kids were smaller.
You have such a wonderful outlook on life, and with so much negativity out there, everywhere, your blog is just SO refreshing!
Enjoy your Chix Pot Pie (another favorite of my family) and that pie does sound wonderful!

Just thought I'd say "Hello" and let you know you bring a smile to my face on a daily basis (whether I comment or not!).

We are in the same position...needing rain. We were blessed with a down pour Sunday afternoon as well as a short but good fall yesterday & today as well. It certainly helps but we can use more.

I'm hearing that lovely sound and seeing that color sky right now! We need it to.
I'm not blogging hardly at all either right now. I really find that I like facebook much more.
I still come and read your blog- I'm just trying to scale back on the time I'm on here.

Rain means so many different things to different people in different places. Glad you enjoyed yours.

Sandra!

I love those dark, ominious, black storm clouds! There is nothing quite like them. I have been crossing my fingers and praying for rain all week, but all we get is clouds all around us, but never anything over us.

Can you pass your skies on over here?

I will be posting some great back to school posts this week on my blog, so stop by and check them out.

I, too, have been posting and reading less. I have just been enjoying these wonderful summer days with my children.

The picture of the storm clouds was great. I love the scent of rain on a summer day. You just can't duplicate it!

I just looked at the Blender Pie recipe. Wow...I've never made a pie using a blender before. :) Such common ingredients too. I love simple recipes. :) I'll definitely have to try this one. Sometimes...just before grocery day I'm on the lookout for recipes just like this. LOL!
And I'm alot like you because I LOVE rainy days too!!!
And PS - I have enjoyed your blog since the day I found it. I'm an everyday reader...gotcha in my reader. :)

I love thunderstorms at night...I sleep like a baby.

I, too, used to be obsessed with how many comments a post would get or how many subscribers my blog had. Then I got over it. I agree, there are as many cliques in blogland as there are in high school. I stepped back and reflected on why I started blogging in the first place and suddenly those numbers didn't seem important anymore.

I don't always comment, but I do read all of your posts. Lack of comments does not equal lack of reach.

Enjoy your day!

Isn't the rain wonderful! One of my favorite things. :)

I agree about the comments. Who cares how many there are. Quality not quantity. :) I have also noticed cliques in blogland. It's just not important.

Have a great day dear!

Sandra, I love your postings and I want to say the same thing that Annette said, "Your blog is like a breath of fresh air to me."

When I first started reading blogs I read every one I could find. Now I find my interest is in reading only the blogs that share about their home life, recipes, books, etc.....the simpler things. ( I think a lot of the ones I read when I first started lurking were very materialistic. )

Keep posting and I will keep on reading. :-) Debbi

Hello, I was excited to see your bag and you said that you wanted to see any we made so swing over to my blog and check out the one I did if you like. Thanks for the recipes that I sometimes sneak in and check for. I am getting ready to get into a major Christian Fantasy book reading fest, so I am so excited. Many blessings to you.
