Christmas Day

2012_12250001

And just like that, another Christmas is at an end and we are now on full speed to the end of the year.

Always so much anticipation, so much busy chaotic craziness in the month and weeks leading up to Christmas day, but in just a few minutes it's over and I breathe sigh of relief.

Presents were opened, and children smiled and shrieked and threw out words like "awesome, amazing".

Paper was ripped, once again bringing to the forefront the ridiculousness of my stress at not wrapping things perfectly.  See, of all the talents the Lord has blessed me with, wrapping is definitely not one and I get quite frustrated at myself hahahah

And while some presents are being ripped open, others are being put together by dad.

No matter how many Christmas mornings we go through, I still revel in my children's faces as they open presents. There's nothing like their smiles of joy.

My minecraft Creeper fan was quite thrilled with his t-shirt and his scarf

And my Whovian daughter was beaming with her goodies even though she really quite dislikes having her picture taken

I found myself tripping over paper and ribbons, and pieces of cardboard and all sorts of a mess in the middle of my living room, and of course as a housewife my first reaction was "Oh my word, this is horrible", and then I quickly told myself that it's fine, it's what this morning is all about, and random messy wrapping paper is O.K.

After helping the kids with their stuff, I finally sat down to open mine and....oh boy, I have a family that knows me so well. My husband showered me with my favorite bakeware Temp-Tations.

I am completely in love with this chicken roaster. It's so gorgeous and definitely not one to put away in a kitchen cupboard, so it will sit either on my counter or on my stove wood cover.

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without some Cath Kidston beauties being added to my kitchen, like these gorgeous baking dishes.

My beautiful daughter knows how much of an Anglophile her mother is, so she bought me this adorable Big Ben Tea Canister with my favorite English Tea bags. Oh I love it so much.

She also got me some more crochet hooks of all different sizes and pretty colors, and an Amish Cookbook. Tell me this child does not know me? hahaha

My handsome boy knows his mommy well too, because he bought me this cupcake pan I've had my eye on for some time, as well as a cookbook he saw me eyeing at the Base BX the other day :)

The top cookbook is from my hubby, and guess what, he loves my blog and readers just as much because he bought me gifted me an extra copy to give away on my blog. I am a lucky girl :) Bottom cookbook is from my boy :)

And we can't forget the girls, they got some presents too. I wish Miss Bella would let me take her picture but she usually runs and hides when she sees the camera. Miss Lola on the other hand is quite the ham hahahah

All in all, a wonderful Christmas, very quiet, very relaxing and spent surrounded by the people I love most of all in the world. We wished Jesus a Happy Birthday and thanked Him for loving us.

We sat down to eat some Overnight French Toast and then spent the rest of the day enjoying our new goodies.

I'm winding down, I'm looking around and thinking that tomorrow the tree will come down and most of the decorations will be put away, and things will get put back into place.

Not just house wise, but even body wise. After a holiday season of good eating and being not careful at all about what goodies I put into my body, I'm craving healthy food and water and simpler meals.

Starting tonight, we'll be having some veggie soup and tomorrow first thing in the morning, the ham bone and some beans are dropped in the crockpot.

Ahhhhh feels good to say "it's done" and successfully at that.

Hope you are all enjoying your Christmas day, and if you're looking for something fun to watch on TV, tonight on BBC America you can watch the Doctor Who Christmas Special which was fantastic (we watched it live this morning).

You can also watch the Downton Abbey Christmas Special, though I am so heartbroken AGAIN over it, that I just don't know what to do with myself. What a mess. You can watch online here.

And if that is not your cup of tea and you prefer Call the Midwife, well then you're in luck because the Christmas special was also shown this morning on BBC.....and you can watch it online here.

I'm sure one of those will catch your eye. I'm off to enjoy some soup and another night of Doctor Who marathon.
