Happy Homemaker Monday - 12/07/2015

Good morning dear friends, how are you all this Monday?

I had quite an eventful weekend, to be honest, a messed up washer, a flooded kitchen and pantry and two dead mice.  Can you beat that excitement?  Haha

Right, let's get into our week at a glance and see what is coming up.

The weather outside is::::
36 degrees and clear right now.  We've had some pretty cold weather, but this week we are actually supposed to go up into the 70's.  Goodness!!!

On the breakfast plate this morning::::
Had a big cup of coffee with White Chocolate Raspberry Creamer, and 2 pieces of Cinnamon Raisin toast with butter.  Yummy!!!

As I look outside my window:::
The sun just came up and from my bedroom window I get the perfect view.  The birds are chirping, and the yard is bathed in a gorgeous golden light.  I do love mornings.

Right now I am::::
Sitting in bed, Lola is laying next to me sleeping and Bella is on her bed on the ground snoring away.  I'm typing up this post and also watching The Voice Portugal on my computer.

As I look around the house::::
Need to do some tidying up in the living room, the family room is actually tidy.  It's starting to look a lot like Christmas, we have our trees up and some small decorations out.  I'm hoping to get everything else out this week.

On today's to do list::::
Laundry....Have a load in the dryer at the moment, also have two sets of bed sheets to wash.  Cleaning....In the kitchen, Unload the dishwasher and reload with breakfast dishes.
In the living room....Vacuum, dust and tidy up a bit, put out some more decorations, make sure the Christmas tree has water.
In the bedrooms....make the beds, pick up and tidy up, open curtains and blinds and windows to let in some fresh air.
In the bathrooms....clean the toilets, sinks and mirrors.
Homeschooling....prepare the lessons, check grades.

Cooking.....for lunch I'm thinking soup, I'll have tomato and basil and the kids will probably choose the chicken noodle.

Happening this week::::
Monday.....School, housework, writing Christmas cards
Tuesday....Make fruit cake for Christmas, Zebra Sprinkles Review
Wednesday....Finish decorating inside
Thursday.....Matcha Green Tea Powder Review
Friday....Post office

Currently reading::::
Nothing at the moment, but I have some review books coming in soon.

On the TV today::::
Catching up on my DVR list:
Lockup
Lockup Raw
Secrets of the Dead (Jamestown colony, really can't wait to watch this one)
American Experience (The Pilgrims, also excited for this one)
Whatever else is on the list that needs watching

On the menu this week::::
Monday - Crockpot Sausage Rigatoni
Tuesday - Slow Cooked Chicken Stew
Wednesday - Sausage and Bean Casserole, Mashed potatoes
Thursday - Cottage Pie, Salad
Friday - Homemade Pepperoni and Homemade Hawaiian Pizza
Saturday - Spring Chicken with Mash, Cauliflower
Sunday - Teriyaki Steak, Basmati Rice

What I am creating at the moment::::
A home.  Still trying to get completely moved in and work on projects around the house.  The past few months have flown by and even though we've been in this house and in Texas for 6 months, we've had so much family over and so many things going on that we haven't really been able to work on anything.

New recipe I tried or want to try this week::::
Nothing new, I haven't tried any recipes in a long time.  I honestly need to though.

Favorite photo from the camera::::

Prayers, Inspirational Quotes or Devotionals::::

PLEASE, don't add links to this list that are not part of the Happy Homemaker Monday. I've asked numerous times, and I'm frankly quite tired of having to remove links to other posts that shouldn't be in this list. Please be respectful of my request!

What caused the flood in the kitchen, the washer or was it something else? I watched Pilgrims on American Experience, it was a lousy, politically correct bit of propaganda. My grandfather on my mother's side was full blooded Abenaki, which is one of the New England tribes that lived alongside the pilgrims, and he knew his peoples history very well. It offended him when some academics reduced the indigenous peoples to caricatures of peaceful flower children, they weren't. Between other tribes, the Wampanoag, were routinely at war with the Micmac, the Pequot, the Narragansett and others. They killed each other, held each other as slaves and could be quite brutal. The Pilgrims walked onto the shore, they had no experience of the native peoples and had no idea it was a burial ground. They were a people who had been forced to flee England due to persecution, many of them were the equivalent of factory workers. They weren't rich. The first part was deceptively well done. I was impressed by the quality of the acting and the detail. Then a flaky professor appears on screen and starts insulting them, then they feature an even flakier Wampanoag from the Aquinnah branch of the Wanapanoag. They live on the island Martha's Vineyard. It's part of the reason I watch less pbs each year.
