Happy Homemaker Monday - 01/16/2017

Good morning friends, hope you've had a wonderful, blessed weekend :)

The rain is finally dwindling down here in North Texas, goodness it's been ongoing for a few days and the mixture of rain and ice has made things quite yucky around here.

I don't have a lot planned for today, but usual homemaking and the sort, so let's see what today brings.

Happy Homemaker Monday

If you want to save and use the new button, just click here.

The weather:::
Cloudy at the moment, still all wet outside from the crazy storms we've had, but we're looking at dry weather for the rest of the week.  41 degrees right now and the rest of the week we'll be in the high 50's and 60's.

On my reading pile:::
Finally made it to the library and these are the books I picked up.  I'm starting on "And the trees crept in", today.

  Weekend January 15 and 16, 2017

On my TV:::
Not sure, there are so many shows I want to get through and just not enough time in the day, but I am pretty certain I'll find something to watch while I do my housework.  I don't know how you all do it, but I find it so much easier when I have my laptop near me and I can pop in something to watch while I do dishes, or cook etc.

On the menu for this week:::
I am going to be menu planning today, I have meals until Friday and then Saturday morning I'll be grocery shopping.  I'm trying to cut back a bit on our grocery budget since now we have to say $3000 until April for our taxes.  Blech!!!

Monday -  Beef Curry
Tuesday - Old Fashioned Sloppy Joe Sliders, Potato wedges
Wednesday - Grilled Tilapia, Rice, Salad
Thursday - Rissois with Fries
Friday - Chicken Sandwiches, Potato Salad
Saturday -
Sunday -

On my to do list:::
Laundry......Washing kid's bed linens
Living rooms.....tidying up, vacuuming
Bedrooms......strip kid's beds.  Make my bed.  Vacuum all bedrooms
Bathrooms.....toilets, sinks, bathtubs, mop
Homeschooling.....no school today
Blogging.....Happy Homemaker Monday post, How to make the most of your appliances

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
I'm still working on the Demelza, but actually wanting to start another Sophie because I enjoyed the last one so much.

Looking around the house:::
Needs a bit of TLC this morning, but only because we had family over for dinner last night and so it always gets a bit out of control, lots of dishes to do etc.

From the camera:::

Weekend January 15 and 16, 2017

Something fun to share:::
I came across a super fun site.  If you're looking for fun things or interesting things to do around your state, then go check out Only in Your State.  It will give you tons of information on some of the most visited or interesting places to visit.

What I'm wearing today:::
Black jeans, checked black and white shirt, black flats.

One of my simple pleasures:::
Reading blogs, but old blogs like the kind of blogs we had when we first started on this blogging journey.  I am not liking the new blogs, they're too business like, it's all about telling people how to blog and what to talk about, competition, who makes more money.  Just not what I enjoy.  Matter of fact I came across one giving some blog ideas for posts and one of the ideas was "Rant or bash a blog".  Like really????  Come on!!!

Bible verse, Devotional:::
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Read Isaiah 41

Good morning Sandra! Hope you and the family are all doing well. I agree about the new blogs. I want to read, honest blogs about living not what people think others want, or tips on how to make a better blog. Best tip ever on blogging, be authentic and blog about what you care about. If others read it, it's a bonus. :)

I'm definitely going to have to check out that website for fun stuff to do with the kids this summer. We are always looking for fun stuff to do as a family and just to get us out of the house.

Your library books look fantastic. If I ever finish with the Outlander series, I may have to jump on these. Adding them to my to read list now.

Hope you have a wonderful week.

Sad how blogging has changed! I'm always looking for more "slice of life" personal blogs to check out. Those are my favorites as well. I'll get my HHM up later today!

I love your crochet square! I too don't like the new blogs... one of the reasons why I went MIA for a few months. But it a new year and I am back and looking forward to browsing some of my favorite blogs! Happy Monday!

Happy Monday! Yes, the new style of blogging is not to my liking either. I love to read Lifestyle blogs - where bloggers share a day in the life features, or fun memes, or recipes they've tried and recommend. I'm not into blogs that are business-like, to me they are just not fun to read. I love in Only in Your State link - my word for 2017 is Explore so it's perfect for me to research spots in our state that we would like to visit. Have a great week!

Not sure how that ended up "I love in Only in Your State link" - it should say "I love your Only in Your State link"!

I agree about the blogs. I am just keeping mine the way that I like it...snippets of our daily life, book reviews, etc. It makes me happy and that is what is most important. Hope you have a good week!

I'm with you on the blogs as well. Is your lantern a candle of sorts? I really like it. Will definitely be checking out the site you shared as I'm already dreaming of spring break (and sunshine, better weather) over here. Hope you have a great week!

That's the kind of blogs I want as well. I love seeing how others are spending their days, going through motherhood etc. I loved the Outlander series, and speaking of which I need to watch Season 2 of the series. I'm so behind. :)

It really is sad, I used to love reading all the blogs, talking with like minded moms and homemakers. It was amazing.

Glad you're back to blogging :) Maybe if more of us take blogging back to the way it was, it may catch on? One can only hope :)

I'm not into those kind of blogs either, that's why I try very hard to keep mine to a bare minimum of reviews etc. I'm so glad you enjoy the link, hope you can find some cool things to do :)

That's what I do with my blog too, just keep it as is and as it's always been for the past almost 11 years :)

It's actually a scentsy warmer :) Hope the site helps you find some fun things to do in your area :)

I have to check out the website as we begin traveling this spring.

I'm glad your weather is starting to break. Ours started gray today and then turned beautiful, but is turning back to ugly for the next few days.

I absolutely agree about the blogs. For me it's all about what I need, NOT what they have to sell. I HATE all the ads.

Have a great week.

I agree with you about the blogs. I can't stand the blogs where people have to talk about the How To's and just picks on other people, etc. I like to keep my blog simple and write about my day and what I have been experiencing. There aren't many like that anymore.

Reviews are great because you're reviewing the types of things you enjoy - new books, products that are useful - and those are great recommendations for all of us to check things out.
