Happy Homemaker Monday #47

Hello everyone :)

Have spent a weekend with sick ones around me.  Started with my husband though he's feeling much better this morning.  Passed on to Jasmine who spent yesterday with a very sore throat and just miserable, she is feeling slightly better this morning.  Unfortunately Nicholas woke up this morning with a sore throat and is now the miserable one.

I'm sure it's making it's way to me.  Oh boy.

The Weather:::
45 degrees at the moment and I just wish that it would stay like this, at least for a full day.  I'm so over the 80 degrees at this time of the year.

Right now I am:
Sitting on my couch wearing my comfy pj's, typing this entry as I watch my Portuguese soap on the TV.  Making my way through my coffee though it's getting to the point where it's lukewarm and just BLECH!

Thinking:
That I hope I don't get sick, unfortunately my throat is starting to hurt.  I'm thinking right now that I'll spend the day with hot tea with honey and lemon.

On my reading pile:::
Nothing at the moment.  Been so busy with Christmas preparations that I haven't had time to sit and read.

On my tv:::
Bomb Girls
The Fabulous Baker Brothers

Favorite Blog post this week (mine or other):::
Whimsical Christmas from Susan Branch

Something fun to share:::
One of my favorite stores, right up there with Cath Kidston, is Greengate.  With it's headquarters in Denmark, I guess I could say that it's Denmark's Cath Kidston store where everything is very reminiscent of the styles I love.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

On the menu for this week:::

Monday - Slow Cooker Spinach Alfredo Lasagna
Tuesday - Creamed Chicken in Pastry Shells
Wednesday - Traditional Calzone
Thursday -  Ranch Tilapia w/ white rice and peas (never made it last week)
Friday - *will be grocery shopping*
Saturday -
Sunday -

On my to do list:::
Nothing....I am taking a day off so I can fight off this cold before it hits me.

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
Have a new crochet project on the hook.  Already finished the handmade Christmas gifts so nothing going on there.

Homemaking Tips:::
With our upcoming move, I'm already looking for ways to pack things easier.  Truth be told as a military wife, we do become experts on packing and moving but there's always room for improvement.  One thing I'll be doing this time is packing my dinner plates between foam disposable plates.  They'll be safe and they'll save me the time of wrapping each one in newspaper or kitchen towels.

Looking around the house:::
Jasmine is asleep on the couch.  Nicholas is watching some videos on his laptop.  Hubby is playing a facebook game and I'm typing this up.  My beautiful Christmas tree is twinkling away in the corner and the scent of pine is wafting through the air.

From the camera:::
Love my yarn basket :)

On my prayer list:::
Praying for my sweet friend Lorraine, the Flowerlady.  Her husband left this earth yesterday morning.  I'm so sad for her.  I pray that the Lord give her the courage and the strength she needs right now.

Bible verse, Devotional:::
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
Psalm 34:8

  3. I agree about the packing tip. I hope to remember it for anyone's next move. I am praying for Lorraine too, as you asked on Facebook. Hope this cold doesn't amount to much. My mother in-law swears by Zicam. She starts taking it as soon as she starts to feel sick and says the cold never really develops. the sooner you start the better it works.

  6. Hope you and your family gets feeling better quickly.

    I love your yarn. When I'm picking colors for a project, I always think, what would Sandra choose. Haha!

    I learned that with the plates on our last move. Definitely a great tip. Saves so much time and space as well as your dishes.

    Have a great week!

  7. Hope your family starts feeling better soon and hopefully you don't get sick. Usually in my house the kids get sick, the hubby, and I usually follow once everyone is feeling better. haha. Guess we're delayed so we can help take care of them. LOL

    I will keep her in my prayers. Truly sorry to hear that.

  8. Hi Sandra! (That is my mother's name as well, by the way. :) I really enjoyed your blog post today. It is wonderful reading the writings of another stay at home Mom of faith. I have recently started a blog as well, just something I am trying to give me something to do that is just for "me." I submitted my page even though I only have 2 fairly simple posts. I hope that was not bad internet etiquette and I hope that you will take the time to have a look. Any advice and comments would be appreciated. Merry Christmas and hope your family is well very soon! -Erin
