{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 08/28/2023 }

Good morning ladies!

Welcome back!

I can't believe this is the last week of August.  I won't say I'm sad to see it go, because the heat wave we've been under has been atrocious.  I am ready for Fall and cooler temps.

I want to start today, by once again sending you all a huge hug and thanking you for being here.  I miss visiting everyone, but life is busy.

My stepmom has been here for a month, and she leaves on Thursday, so I'll be able to get back to a more *normal* schedule, which will include posting more often.  I want to take more pictures, welcome in the Fall season, take you along on this year's Pecan harvest, and other things as well.

But first, let's get through today's post and the rest of this week, shall we?

Have a blessed week friends. ♥♥♥

{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 08/21/2023 }

Good morning ladies!

Here we are again, another Monday, another week that has flown by, and another busy day.  Years ago I felt that summer was my slow time of the year.  Things seemed to slow down, we relaxed, took it easy and enjoyed the hotter weather.

Now it seems things have changed, for a few years now, summer seems to be my most busiest time of the year.  I sometimes feel like I don't have a chance to breathe, before another day dawns upon me.  I'm so over it, I'm ready for Fall and Winter, for cooler days, for slower days, for down time and being able to relax without hosting anyone or anything.

Can you tell I am in desperate need of a break?

Anyway, let's get on with our post.  As we inch closer to September, I am very much looking forward to some time alone, in my home, just pottering around, homemaking, and getting back to blogging.  Let's hope it turns out the way I want.

Have a wonderful blessed week, friends ♥♥

♥♥ The Weather ♥♥
I am actually struggling with the sun and the heat.  I've never had an issue, but now, it seems every time I go out into the pool or the sun, I get nauseous and headachy.  This heat is nothing like I've ever felt.  What is going on?  We desperately need rain again and for the temperatures to stay below 110.  Please!!!

Monday -  Cloudy skies, 108
Tuesday - Partly cloudy, 107
Wednesday - Mostly sunny, 105
Thursday - Mostly sunny, 108
Friday - Mostly sunny, 107
Saturday - Mostly sunny, 107
Sunday - Mostly sunny, 106

♥♥  As I look outside my window ♥♥
It's cloudy but the temperatures are still very hot.  We have been under Excessive heat warnings for 3 weeks now.  The grass is yellow, the trees are suffering.  It's awful, it looks miserable out there.

♥♥  Right now I am ♥♥
Trying to get this post up, while nursing a headache.

♥♥  Devotional, verse, thoughts  ♥♥
Jesus’ words in today’s passage sound too good to believe. He said the kingdom of heaven was at hand and promised that “some of those who are standing here” would see it. But the next day—and the five after that—were just normal days in the same dark world.

On the sixth day, however, Peter, James, and John were with Jesus for what we now call the Transfiguration. And what an amazing thing they witnessed! As their Master’s appearance changed, they saw His face shining “like the sun” and His clothes a luminous white.

The next day the three disciples awoke as usual in the world they had always known—but they were different. They had seen the promised kingdom. And they carried that hopeful memory for the rest of their days, living in the light of the kingdom Jesus had revealed.

In his epistles, Peter wrote about that hope in the King and His coming kingdom. He said that he, James, and John were “eyewitnesses of His majesty” (2 Peter 1:16). He believed what he saw and trusted that Jesus’ promises were “a lamp shining in a dark place” (2 Peter 1:19).

The Transfiguration offers us the same hope today. Since the King’s majesty has been revealed to us as well, we can endure our dark places by living in the light of the coming kingdom.

{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 08/14/2023 }

Good morning everyone.

I am running soooo late today.  We just had our family reunion, and the last family members left not too long ago, so I'm now rushing to get this post up.

I won't chit chat as always, just going to get right on with our late Happy Homemaker Monday.

♥♥ The Weather ♥♥
It's been awful.  So hot!  Thankfully today and tomorrow are staying below 100, but the rest of the week, we will be right back into the triple digits.

Monday -  91
Tuesday - 95
Wednesday - 102
Thursday - 111
Friday - 109
Saturday - 109
Sunday - 108

♥♥  As I look outside my window ♥♥
My pool is up and running.  Everyone enjoyed it during the reunion, and it helped with the unbearable heat.  I have to tidy up a bit around the fire pit and eating area, there are some drinks that were left out there by family members.

♥♥  Right now I am ♥♥
Sitting on the couch, working on this post, and trying to stay still.  I am beyond exhausted.

♥♥  Thinking and pondering ♥♥
That we had a wonderful family reunion, again, but having 35 people in my house, at once, is crazy.  As much as I loved the get together, I'm also happy and relieved that it's over and done with.

♥♥ Listening to ♥♥
The sound of the birds outside, and the sound of my dryer inside.Have a lot of laundry to do.

♥♥  How am I feeling ♥♥
Exhausted, and quite sore.  My lower back has been really hurting me the past week or so.  Even going to the store, I have to constantly stop and try to bed over a little, or use a shopping cart to stretch out my back because walking is bothering me.

♥♥  On the breakfast plate ♥♥
I had 2 cups of coffee, very much needed today, and some toast.

♥♥   On the lunch plate ♥♥
Leftovers from the reunion.

♥♥  On the dinner plate ♥♥
Chicken Fricassee, Rice, Zucchini in tomato sauce

♥♥  What I'm wearing  ♥♥
Shorts and a tank top.

♥♥  On my reading pile ♥♥
My Bible, although I've been terrible at reading it lately.

♥♥  Looking around the house  ♥
My poor carpets need to be cleaned again.  With the amount of people we had, in and out of the house constantly, they are a mess.

I did manage to get the house picked up after everyone left, but still need to dust.

♥♥  To Do List ♥♥
Laundry, housework and meal plan

♥♥  Devotional, verse, thoughts  ♥♥
“The wise of heart will receive commands” and the “one who is on the path of life follows instruction” (vv. 8, 17). If we wish to continue growing in Christlikeness, we must leave ourselves open to receive the Lord’s teachings via whatever or whomever He chooses.

{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 08/07/2023 }

Good morning sweet ladies.  Welcome back to my blog!

I am actually getting this post up super early, because I have another busy day ahead.  Nick got a jury summons, and I need to drop him off for that, then head to Walmart to pick up some blow up mattresses for the family reunion this coming weekend.

My stepmom arrived from South Africa yesterday, and what a blessing it is.  No matter how old we are, it's always good to have mom around, isn't it?

I also have my birthday coming up on Thursday, I'll be turning 49.  How?  How has time gone by so quick?  And on Saturday, it's our 25th Wedding Anniversary during the reunion.  So lots to do and prepare for.  Send some energy my way, if you have some to share.

Anyway, without further delay, let's get going with our post.

Hope you all have a blessed week!

Why growth matters!  - Daily Devotions

2 Peter 3:14-18

When a baby is born, it’s a cause for celebration but also anticipation. Before discharging the family, the doctor checks that everything is as it should be. And then, once at home, Mom and Dad watch carefully to make sure the baby eats enough, sleeps well, and meets milestones. In the days and months (and years!) to come, parents pay attention to the child’s development—not just physical but also cognitive and emotional. If there aren’t signs of growth, something is probably wrong.

The same is true of our life in Christ. When we first receive Jesus as Lord, we’re spiritual infants, beginning a wonderful new life in Him. But from then on, it’s important to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior” (2 Pet. 3:18). Otherwise, we can easily be misled by wrong teaching, doubt, and temptation.

Growing in our relationship with Jesus requires that we fill our life with practices that promote good spiritual health. These include regular worship, prayer, Bible study, fellowship with other believers, and serving with our gifts and talents. Such disciplines nourish us—they’re like vitamins and exercise for the soul.

How has your spiritual growth been recently? What changes would help strengthen your faith?
