Happy Homemaker Monday - 12/25/2023

Good morning and Merry Christmas!

I am coming to you with about 4 hours of sleep, so excuse any random babbling or misspelling or anything that may seem weird. I blame the tiredness that is running through my body at the moment. We had a wonderful Christmas Eve with family, lots of delicious food and party games which always end up in laughing until your stomach hurts.

We didn't get to bed until 2am, and I was up at 4:30 when our rooster decided he wanted out of the coop.  I do hope I'll get in a nap sometime today. Anyway, Merry Christmas to you all and your families.

Let's get on with our last Happy Homemaker Monday of  2023.

{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 12/18/2023 }

Good morning friends, welcome back to my blog.

I have to make this a quick post, as we're heading off 2 and half hours away, for a funeral.  My husband's stepfather, passed away last week.  He was married to my mother in law, and has been having health issues for years.  Thankfully we got to talk to him last weekend when he was in the ICU, but unfortunately he passed Tuesday night.

I would say I am not looking forward to today, but that would be an understatement, I don't think anyone likes funerals.  However, I really, like really dislike them.  I feel very uncomfortable during the whole process, I don't know why.  So, going to a funeral is a big thing for me, I have to mentally prepare myself.

Anyway, I have to get ready soon, and have just zipped around the house to get things organized before leaving for the day.  Dishes are done, kitchen is clean, living room and dining room are tidied up, and I have laundry started so I can switch it to the dryer before I leave.  I also managed to call in my yearly appointment at the Gyn, and now I have to put this post up as quickly as I can.

Busy day.  Hope you all have a blessed week ahead.
♥♥♥♥♥♥

Working on this post and listening to a video on Rumble.

*** Thinking and pondering ***
About the funeral, about what I need to get done, about Christmas.

*** How I am feeling ***
I woke up with a pain on my left hip lower back.  I sometimes have a tendency to sleep incorrectly, where I keep my left leg fully stretched out all night, then wake up with this muscle cramp/pain.  I just hope it goes away soon, because standing on it makes it worse and I'll be doing a bit of standing around today.

*** On the breakfast plate ***
I have had a cup of coffee, also just had 3 scrambled eggs and 2 pieces of toast.  It will have to keep me going for the whole day, until I return home to make dinner.

*** On the lunch plate ***
No idea, probably nothing.

*** On the dinner plate ***
I'm thinking of throwing in a Salsa Chicken in the crockpot for dinner.  Will just make some rice and a salad to go with it, when I'm home.

*** On the menu ***
I will start working on the new meal plan this week, but we also have Christmas Eve coming up on Sunday and as usual, we will have all our Portuguese favorites on the table.

*** From the camera ***
Last year at Hobby Lobby, during the after Christmas sale, we picked up these stocking hangers for the fireplace.  I just love them so much, how adorable are they?

*** Something to share ***
Here is some relaxing Christmas music for you all, hope you enjoy.

*** Christmas Tips, DIY, Ideas or recipes ***
When stringing popcorn for garland, let it sit for a couple of days to get stale. Stale popcorn is easier to string.

I didn't think it would make a difference, but it really does.  Give it a try.

*** Devotional, Bible Verses ***
May He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever.  - Hebrews 13:21

Happy Homemaker Monday - 12/11/2023

Good morning everyone, it is a really cold morning here in Texas.  I've had to make a fire the past two days, because the mornings especially have been pretty chilly.

I hope you've all had a wonderful weekend.  We have a new week ahead, as I always say, a blank slate and a chance to start fresh, remember God's mercies are new every morning.
I need to post the Advent Calendar gifts for the past two days, I just haven't had a chance to get on the computer.  Yesterday we had a broken pipe out back, the one that connects to the toilets.  Ugh!  Thankfully my husband and brother in law, were able to get it fixed, and replace the broken seal for less than 20 dollars.  It's always something right?
Anyway, let's get going with our post.

Have a blessed week my friends!

Stitchmas Advent Calendar - Day Eight

IMG_5480

Alright, it is Day Eight of our twelve days of Advent Calendar, and I can't believe how quickly these days have already passed.  Feels like I just opened Day One and here we are, just 4 more after today, to open.  I'm already feeling sad about that thought.

However, I am very happy with all the goodies I already got and am very much looking forward to starting on the project kits.

So, let's see what is in envelope number 8.

Day Eight

IMG_5538

Oh my goodness, it's another adorable kit to make.  That is just the sweetest little sign isn't it?

IMG_5539

I love wood, love wooden projects, wooden home decorations, just find them so rustic and beautiful, so this is right up my alley.   It brings the instructions, the little wooden sign, the dowel to hang it from, and a knitting needle crochet hook.  Love!!!

It does not include the yarn though, so I'll have to go and take a look at the instructions to see the colors needed and will have to go by Hobby Lobby for those.

IMG_5540

IMG_5541

IMG_5543

Just beautiful, I especially love the wooden sign with the wood burned trees and snow covered homes.

I really can't believe I only have four more envelopes to open, I wish it would just keep going and going, but oh well.

Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed the peek into today's gift.  Come back tomorrow to see the next day's gift, will you?

Stitchmas Advent Calendar - Day Seven

IMG_5480

It's day seven, and we have quite a big envelope to open, so I'm gonna jump right in, open it up and see what is inside.

By the way, I mentioned in my first Stitchmas post, where I got the Calendar, but if anyone is still wondering, it is from Hobby Lobby and my husband bought it for me last year, during the after Christmas sale they were having.

I tried to look online, but it doesn't seem that this is a yearly thing, I don't know if this was a one time Advent Calendar they made.  But if you're looking for others similar to this, I think Hobby Lobby may have some.

Day Seven

IMG_5531

IMG_5532

Ooohhhh so today we got some wrapping paper, three sheets of the cutest paper, which I have to be honest, I don't plan on using to wrap presents.  I am going to keep it for something else, maybe a different project, or maybe to cover a special notebook, I don't know, but I can't bear to think of wrapping a gift and then seeing this gorgeous paper torn apart.

What can I say, I just can't!  Hahahaha

IMG_5533

IMG_5534

Also, got some really adorable gift tags and some more washi tape.  I think I'm going to have to start scrapbooking or something, to use all the cute washi tape I've received so far.

IMG_5535

Look at that tape, especially the one with the tiny houses on it.  How adorable is that?  My word!

I am very curious as to what is in Day Eight.

Stitchmas Advent Calendar - Day Six

IMG_5480

Day 6.....I am just itching to get that bag open.

First I wanted to let you know that, I had all these posts ready to go and was supposed to schedule them to be published each day, and completely forgot to.  So this morning, when I came to do today's advent, I realized that nothing had been published, it was just sitting in the background, so to speak.

Oh boy!  This is what happens when you're sick and your mind stops working normally.

But anyway, they're all up now, so you can go back and take a look at the previous days gifts.  Let me know what you think of the gifts I've received so far, because I am in love with each one.

Ready?

Day Six

IMG_5525

IMG_5526

Oohhh, I have no clue what is in there.  It looks like tubes?

I dumped it out, and the first thing that actually fell out was this adorable yarn cutter.  Can you see the razor on the right side, it's right between my ring finger and my pinky.  It's the cutest thing ever, and I know it's going to make cutting yarn much easier, especially when I'm switching colors.

IMG_5527

IMG_5528

So the tubes are empty.  They almost look like lipsticks don't they?  I don't know what they're for, but I think I may use one for my stitch markers, one for my embroidery needles and the others I'm not sure yet, I will figure it out.

I am going to go through my project bag and see what little items I can hold in those.  They are just so cute though, I love all the patterns.

IMG_5529

IMG_5530

Another day, and yet another bag full of the cutest nick nacks and gadgets for my stitching, crochet projects.

Would it be cheating if I opened Day Seven already?  Yes?  Ok, I'll wait.  I'll just see you tomorrow for the next advent gift.

Stitchmas Advent Calendar - Day Five

IMG_5480

Alright, come on in and sit with me, I've been waiting for you to open this next bag and see what awaits us today.

Just a quick word first.  I know I haven't been posting much, so I thought that the Advent Calendar would be the best way to go.  It forces me to sit down and not only take pictures of every gift I open but to come in and share it with you.  I hope you're enjoying it as much as I am, I only wish you all had one of these to open too, because the little gifts inside are some of the best I've ever seen.

Four days down, moving on to day five, are you ready?

Day Five

IMG_5522

This one blew me away as well.  I can't.  I just can't, and I know I keep saying that, but I really can't.  LOL

This one is called Deck the Halls Garland and it is just gorgeous.  The bag was a bit heavy so I wasn't sure what could be inside, but boy was I surprised.

So for the garland it brings the instructions, which are actually on the back of the picture of the project.  It also brings a bag of big wooden beads and then the yarn and the thread, plus a small bag with the tiny little white pompoms.

This is another project that I can not wait to make and have for next year.  I have the just the right box to put the finished projects in, to keep them safe for next Christmas.

IMG_5523

 IMG_5524

I'm almost afraid to say it, but with each day, the gifts keep getting better.  I have tried to imagine what I could possibly find in the next day's bag, but I have no clue, which makes it even more exciting.

Counting down the hours for Day 6.

Stitchmas Advent Calendar - Day Four

IMG_5480

We are just plodding right along with our Advent Calendar for this year.  This is the Stitchmas Hobby Lobby Advent Calendar, it is a 12 day calendar, although after seeing the first 3 gifts, I wish it was a 25 day.  Not going to lie!

But, either way, I am so happy with the gifts so far, and I'm collecting quite a fantastic stash of projects and accessories for my crochet and stitching.

You can go back each day and see what the gifts were, but so far, I have gotten a crochet Nativity set, a metal tin holding a measuring tape and stitch markers, an adorable tote bag, and today, let's see what's inside.....

IMG_5520

You guys, I'm going to lose my mind. What?!?!?!?

No really, WHAT?!?!?!?  A Christmas Tree Ornament in the shape of a shopping cart filled with yarn.  I think that is pretty close to a dream come true for me.  This has to be one of the cutest ornaments I've ever seen.

And just look at these washi tapes.  *sigh*

IMG_5521

The little trucks with the yarn balls in between, and then yarn and needles.  And it's not just the pictures on the washi tape that are adorable, but I love the colors.  I'm all about pastels and soft colors, I've never been one to like primary colors, as I find them too harsh.

These are like my colors, the kind of yarn color I usually gravitate to when I start a project.

So that's Day Four, it didn't disappoint AT ALL.

Happy Homemaker Monday - 12/04/2023

Good morning ladies.  It is a cold foggy morning here in Texas, and I am trying very hard to get over the cold that Curt had, hence my disappearance from the blog last week.

What started with Curtis getting a bad cold, turned into him getting better, and then me, Nick and my brother in law Chris, getting the sickness.  We have been down since last week Tuesday, all had two days of fevers, body aches, a lot of congestion, and now we are all coming around the corner, but dealing with that annoying cough that always remains after the sickness ends.

It has kept me up for the past 2 nights, my chest hurts, my throat burns and frankly, I am over this.  I have a lot to do fro Christmas, and don't have time to be down with any kind of illness.  But, it's also that time of the year and many...many....around here and all over the US are down with this cold.

Anyway, enough about that, let's get right on with our post, I am hoping, that this week I can get back on track and share more posts leading up to Christmas.

I hope you are all doing well, hope you're all healthy.  If you're also down with this cold, I pray that you feel better as quickly as possible.

Have a blessed week my friends!
♥♥♥♥♥♥

Working on this post, and listening to a Jonathan Cahn video on Youtube.  I love him so much, I've been a huge fan for years, he is so smart, so well versed on the Bible as well.  Wonderful teacher!

*** Thinking and pondering ***
I am on full Christmas mode, there is a lot to do and get ready, and I need to write it all down, and get going.

*** How I am feeling ***
I'm ok, I feel fine cold wise, but my chest hurts from coughing, my throat feels irritated and the congestion is still ongoing, which makes my head feel heavy and lightheaded.  Also, I am due for my monthly cycle tomorrow.  Go ahead and laugh ladies.....when it rains it pours right?  😂

*** On the breakfast plate ***
I'm working on my second cup of coffee with Hazelnut creamer.  To be honest, I'm starting to go off creamers?  I mean until I moved to the States, I had never heard of creamer and our coffee was with milk, and that's it.  So, I think I may just go back to the original.   Along with the coffee I had Weetabix to eat.

*** On the lunch plate ***
Not sure, I have some leftover Bacon and Sausage Rice, from dinner, but not really in the mood.  I think I may do a grilled cheese and onion toastie.

*** On the dinner plate ***
Beef Filled Crepes with Potato Wedges, Salad

*** On the menu ***
Will start working on the new menu this week.  I have a few meals already planned but the empty slots, are for meals I haven't yet planned for.

MondayBeef Filled Crepes with Potato Wedges, Salad

*** What I am wearing ***
Winter pajamas of course.  Will throw on some leggings and a long sleeved shirt, for my day.

*** On my reading pile ***
I am going to be reading through the book of Luke this month.  Because I've been sick, I haven't started but I'll quickly catch up today.  The point is to read a chapter of Luke each day, up until Christmas day.
Jonathan Cahn's The Return of the Gods
Francine River's, A Lineage of Grace.

*** On my TV this week ***
Youtube - Brazilian Homemaking Vlogs, Vlogmas, Christmas recipes
Turkish shows - Bambaska Biri, Dizik Talesi, Hudutsuz Sevda

*** Looking around the house ***
The fireplace is looking empty, it needs my Christmas village which I haven't been able to get up yet.  I plan on doing that today.

*** To do list ***
Christmas village
Usual homemaking
Plan menu for Christmas Eve
Finalize gift list

*** From the camera ***
Christmas time means cute themed mugs, right?

*** Something to share ***
Today I'm bringing you 4 hours of the best old Christmas songs.  Just pop it on, and get going with your Christmas decorations.

*** Christmas Tips, DIY, Ideas or recipes ***
One of the appetizers that will be on the table this Christmas, are these super cute cheese trees.  I've been seeing these floating around for a while.  They're so quick and easy to make but look adorable.

You just need some cheese wedges (laughing cow etc), the amount is up to you, make as many as you need.  You can also take a block of cheese and cut it into wedges, or a cheese wheel cut into wedges.
Crushed herbs like oregano, basil, rosemary, dill (whatever you like)
Crushed red pepper flakes
Smoked paprika

Then you mix the herbs on a plate.  Break a pretzel stick in half.  Press the cheese wedge down on the herbs, then flip to coat the other side.  Insert half of a pretzel stick into the wedge, and that's it.  You have yourself an adorable Christmas Tree.

*** Devotional, Bible Verses ***
I thought that for this month, I would share with you the book of Luke, in video format, from one of my favorite Youtube channels The Bible Project.  Here's the first 2 chapters of Luke.  Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

Stitchmas Advent Calendar - Day Three

IMG_5480

Welcome back to Day Three!!!

For it being my first ever Advent Calendar, I am quite impressed and chuffed with it.  The minute I open one for the day, I am already looking forward to the next day's gift.  I don't know if Hobby Lobby does one of these every year, I tried looking it up but couldn't find much information on it.

What I do know is that I am definitely getting myself another stitch, yarn, related advent for next year.  As much as I love the sound of a coffee, jam, tea, chocolate etc. advent calendar, I feel that those will be used up pretty quick, whereas these kind of project calendars are gifts that you keep forever.

Ok, so now with that said, should we see what's in the third bag?

Day Three

IMG_5491

No, I can't!!!!

Are you kidding me?  It is a tote bag with the most adorable foxes and owls on the outside.  How can it be that every day, the gifts keep surprising me?  I haven't had one yet, that I thought, "oh it's ok."

What an adorable tote bag, it is perfect for holding your current project, and the little metal tin can will ti inside it as well.  Ahhhhhh!!!!

IMG_5492

IMG_5493

And even better, it is lined inside, and has pockets on each side to hold yarn, stitch markers, hooks, needles, whatever you need.  This is the perfect sized project bag.

I was not expecting this bag to be in that small envelope, so I'm quite surprised LOL

Come on Day Four, I am dying to see what awaits me.

Stitchmas Advent Calendar - Day Two

 IMG_5480

Hey guys welcome back.  I know you're all here waiting patiently to see what was in package number 2, of our Stitchmas Calendar.

I will tell you this, the minute I opened it, I let out a little shriek which caused Curt to react from the office, asking if I was alright.

The cuteness of what was in Day Two sent me over the edge, especially because of one specific item, which had other specific smaller items inside.  You'll see what I mean.  It's something I've always wanted to have and just never got around to buying.

Day Two....

IMG_5485

IMG_5486

Ok, so first we are going to have to address this adorable metal tin box.  How pretty is it?  I can already picture my small scissors, needles, some pins, some crochet hooks, whatever current project I'm working on.  It's perfect!

IMG_5487

And then I opened it and this was when the shriek came out.  No way.......just no way.  The cutest retractable measuring tape, and then stitch markers y'all.  Like stitch markers that I've always wanted but never get....and not just any stitch markers but the most adorable stitch markers I have ever seen.

Polar bear, stocking, a sweater, a beanie, I am in love.

IMG_5489

IMG_5490

I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this.  I can't stop looking at them and holding them in my hands.  Look at the little owl?  😍

What could possibly be in the next day's gifts, that could top this?

Stitchmas Advent Calendar - Day One

IMG_5480

I have always wanted to have one of these cool advent calendars, that I could open every day, and find some wonderful gift.  But, I find them to be quite expensive, and if I were to get one for myself, I would want to do it for my family too, and so I never have.

Then last year, after Christmas, me and my husband, brother and sister in law,  went to check out the Hobby Lobby sale.  We found quite a few nice things, and one of those was this amazing Advent Calendar, that my husband bought me because he knew just how much I've always wanted one.

For the whole year, it has sat in the closet, waiting.  Every time I would see it I would get excited, just counting down the months and days until I could finally dig in.

When the 1st of December rolled around, I immediately grabbed it from the closet and could not wait to get into that big box.  I wasn't sure what I would find, and was really hoping that I would love the gifts inside.  However, I was not prepared for the cuteness that would come out of bag 1 for the first day.  If this is a hint at the kind of gifts I would be opening for the next 12 days, I was in for a huge treat.

So, I'm going to share with you each day, what the gift is, and I think that if you love stitching and crocheting and knitting and so forth, you are going to fall in love with this calendar.  I know I have, and now I feel the need to rush to Hobby Lobby after Christmas, and try to find another.

I mean, how adorable is this?

A crochet nativity set, it brings everything you need, the little wooden barn structure, the directions and the yarns.  I can't wait to get this made, and put away for next year's decorations.

Are you curious to see what I got on day two?  Come back tomorrow and check it out.  Also if you have a sweet calendar you've been opening, let me know down below in the comments, I love seeing all the different advent calendars people have.
