As you can see we are quite a ways away from the Flight Line so you would think when the Jets were taking off or being worked on, we wouldn't even hear right? Right? WRONG! LOL
Good thing is that you get used to the sound even at night when you're trying to sleep and all you hear is this thundering boom all over.
And right about the time you hear that you usually see this in the sky....I don't think I'll ever get used to seeing the F16's so close, the kids just love them.
Now look at the sky in that pic above, that's directly in front of my house, across the street.......see how it looks greyish......now if you walk to the back yard, then you get THIS kind of sky.
Who knew that just a few steps from each other, the sky would be so different looking? I'm loving the moon though :)
Anyway, moving on, a couple of you have asked me some questions and I didn't have the chance to answer before, so I'll do that now. Quite a few like the borders I use on my photos and wanted to know how I did that. I use PaintShop Pro, but I'm sure any other graphics program will do, I have a couple of borders like those above that I paste my photos into. That's all, it's nothing weird or hard to do and just because I love you all, I've uploaded 2 of the frames online, just click on the links below and save it to your computers!

If you have any problems or questions just email me ok?
Others wanted to know about my blogs and the templates I use, whether I made my own templates etc. YES, I do. I taught myself to make them about a year ago and though it was confusing at first trying to learn all the HTML and what does what, but I'm glad I did it, this way I don't have to pay everytime I feel like changing, which if you've been reading my blog for a while, you know happens quite often LOL
Last night I watched Christy: Return to Cutter Gap and though I really enjoyed it I was a big confused because of some many changes to the main actors. I loved David Grantland in the first series and in this one I wasn't too thrilled with him, mainly because it was a completely new actor but also the way he was portrayed was just so different to the first one. Weird!
Where I found myself rooting for Christy and David in the first series, in this one I'm rooting for Christy and Dr MacNeill.....how about that? Either it's a huge change or I'm wishy washy *shrug* LOL
I'm trying to get my water drinking in but it's SO hard for me, I am not a water person at ALL. I managed 4 glasses yesterday and thought I was going to drown, I spent every 5 minutes in the bathroom and felt like I was floating.....but I did feel better, it made me not as hungry as before, hence I wasn't running around eating all day. Guess it's all about balance right?
I have a house to clean and laundry to do, I also need to mop and sweep the floors but I think I'll leave the mopping for tomorrow, when I got up this morning both kids had climbed into bed with me and both pugs had come along for the ride. Next thing I knew there was giggling and laughing, dogs chasing their tails and I tried to get in on the game but ended up straining my lower back. You ever have that happen? You bend down or reach down for something and get this shooting pain in your lower back, makes you sick to your stomach and it's hard to walk around afterwards. So instead of adding to it by mopping, I think I'll give my back a rest today and mop tomorrow.
I better get going, have a great wednesday everyone :)
Oh I so understand about the back pain. You have no idea something's wrong & then TWANG...Owwwwwww!
ReplyDeleteHappened to me once when the kids were little - not easy to get 3 kids in & out of cribs like that.
Hope you feel better soon,
Alane
Thanks for sharing about life on the base. Although it's neat to see those planes )DH would love that part!) the noise could get old. Glad you get used to it. That's for sharing those borders - I still don't think I'm computer savvy enough to use them. At the moment I'm trying to fidgure out how to use Mr Linky on my site!
ReplyDeleteThe photo with the moon is just beautiful, we get that often too.
ReplyDeleteI hope your back is better soon, you make sure you rest well now! No mopping or laundry lifting!!
Gentle non-back straining hugs xx
Sarah
Take Care of your back and get better soon, thats no fun .
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures today and what a way to put the noise into perspective !
Stephanie
Thanks for adding the links to your fave frames !!! I have saved them to my computer ... now, to see if I can get them to work !
ReplyDeleteHope your back is feeling better soon! I had a sore back last week and the only thing that helped was a hot water bottle ! Worked wonders !!
I have a little pressy for you on my blog :)
ReplyDeleteYou guys are a bit a away aren't you? But knowing how loud jets are from the air shows they have here, I'm actually surprised that you do get used to them.
ReplyDeleteHow did you teach yourself HTML? From books?
Oh no, hope you and your back get to feeling better soon. Lots of rest will probably help a lot. And you can drink some water with a couple of Tylenol or Advil and that should help some too.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with you on the water. I have such an easier time in the summer, when I try to drink water. I hate drinking it in the winter unless it's in hot tea or hot cocoa :)
Great photos! I've never lived near an AF base, but my husband was in the AF for four years. He was a security policeman and patrolled the gates and flight lines. I tell him all the time, between the planes and guns going off all the time (he was also on a competitive shooting team), that's why he's already hard of hearing. Heaven help me in another 30-40 years, he's going to be totally deaf at the rate he's going. :) On the plus side for him, he can sleep through anything, with any noise. Me, I have to have it quiet and dark.
Have a great day and rest that back!
Great Pictures Sandra! Its strange for a Navy family, but we lived on Scott AFB when Hubs was a recruiter, and Hubs was stationed at Peterson AFB at USNORTHCOM. Now we live on a Naval Air Station.. I know what you mean about the planes.. I hardly ever hear them!
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to take some pictures of my surroundings. Just need to charge my camera battery!
Good Afternoon Sandra,
ReplyDeleteWell, I can't even type right. LOL. I guess I'm still asleep. I have been napping off and on all day. I sort of know what it's like to live on an AFB. My Dad's brother used to be stationed in Clovis, NM, years ago. One year when we drove to California, we stayed in Clovis a few days. I was a little girl back in those days, but I can remember hearing planes and things like that. The house would shake at times as well. I love the photo's you showed. That is so awesome how just a few steps can make. I seen an advertisement earlier today about Special K having some kind of powder that you can add to your water now. They said it was in the diet section of the store. You might want to try that with your water. I do hope your back gets to feeling better. I have alot of back pains sometimes. I get the generic mentholatum rub and when my DH is home, I have him to rub it on my back. It helps too. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.
Love & Hugs,
Karen H.
Those jets always fascinate me. We used to live in Colorado Springs and I would frequently hear and see them whizzing by overhead.
ReplyDeleteSandra,I was and USAF person and working on the flight line was part of my duties. One of the things that I really enjoyed watching was when a heavly ladened C-130 would be taking off useing the Jesto(jet assisted take off for those who donot know the term)I was assigned to the 2151 CLSS at Mcclelland AFB.we were a depot level maintance squadron. We did not "own" any of our own aircraft, but we went here there and every where fixing planes.
ReplyDeleteI got to go to places and see things that if I had not been in the service I probuly never would have gone to.God Bless the USA.
I do not know if these planes are used any more by the weather squadrons as they were used whin I was in the "super Connies" those propeller driven craft would spit oil on you as you walked past it.Or at least it seemd it to me.But than again I would swear that those planes would smile at ya when you got hit with the oil drops. I was an aircraft electrician.I went into the Air Force to honor my Father he had served in the Army Air Force and was part of the occupation forces in Japan at the end of the Second World War.
Oh I must say I know exactly what you're going through with the base. I lived in Fairborn, OH for 26 years of my 27 year old life - which IS the base pretty much. It wraps around the city anyway. I lived probably a bit closer to the strip than you and grew up hearing those planes. The BEST season is hurricane season when they fly all the planes from the coast in. And if that isn't bad enough, there is a railroad stop in the city as well...so at night if you're not hearing the planes, you're hearing the trains. You just learn to be okay with it after all. We moved and now I life next to a highway, so if it's not one thing it's another...lol. I think the worst part is, I am NOT into planes at all, so whenever someone comes to visit Dayton, OH and wants to go to the Air Force Museam I whine and complain and beg out if possible...I hATE that place..
ReplyDeleteWOW! Really overwhelming pictures Sandra. It looks as if this is the real air force base and they are landing down in our lawn. The planes in the frame looks as if they are flying in front of us. These Pic Frameshas a cool view kept in them.
ReplyDeletethis is really a good looking blog.
