No Spring Chicken!

I tell you as I get older I realize that there are things my body just can't do anymore and that's quite a sad thought at first, my initial reaction is to be shocked and stunned but then I have to remind myself that everyone gets older.

What kind of things you may ask? Well it's not even major stuff, but I've noticed how the smallest of strains I put on my lower back will leave me in pain for a few days, how no matter how much I try to control what I eat my weight is still going to yo-yo and my metabolism is getting older too, it takes forever to do anything LOL

Isn't it funny how a few years back the thought of running around with the kids was no biggie and now I cringe and think "I can't do that, it's too much effort, I am too tired, I'm too sore" whine whine whine. I'm truly pathetic at times, I feel bad for Curt who has to put up with me for the rest of his life LOL

Anyway, I told you all last night that we're moving again. Thankfully it's not to another state or base yet. We have only been here 8 months and haven't even begun to think of it as home......besides I don't think I have to remind you all how much we dislike this base, but that's neither here nor there.

We got a notice a few days ago and last night Curt had to go to a meeting at the housing office. They are tearing down the houses we're in right now and relocating us to a different house on base, we have to be out of these by the end of March. MARCH?!?!?!?!?!
I just thank the Lord that it's not in May when I'm going to be in Africa because that would just be heartbreaking for us.

So here we are, waiting until next week for the next meeting when we find out which house we'll be moving to. Curt and I are perfectly fine moving into a house just like the one we're in right now, after living in a two story for 10 years, I was glad to finally be on a one level house, it just makes everything so much easier for us. The rest of the military members being moved out are all fighting over the new houses and some even offered us $100 and $150 to trade with us if we get a new one. Curt's reply "you can have the new house for free, I don't want it" LOL

Now before you think we're crazy, you have to understand the reasons. If you ask any military member about the cons of moving into a new house you'll get a long list, the main one is the money you will have to pay for anything that is broken or stained or whatever. They are downright strict and knit picky when it comes to it. I've seen many members pay huge fines when they move out.......and really, I'm not interested in paying $1500 because the carpet is stained or there is a mark on the wall, or the grass is not mowed to 2 inches tall. FORGET ABOUT IT!

We don't plan on staying here forever, so we're fine moving into an old house. We can have the military move us or we can move ourselves and they will pay us for the relocation. Of course we chose to move ourselves, extra money for the trip AND I can easily go back and forth between the houses moving things while Curt is at work......but they also give the soldier 5 days off from the day we get the keys to move everything....so that's where we're at.

I am not going to lie and tell you that we weren't a little irked to begin with, I mean we've been here only since July and they knew they were tearing down the houses, so why not move us into one of the others already? Not to mention, I was happy being only a few houses down from the school, but you know I have to remember that I'm not in charge or in control of certain things, it's just something else to hand over to the Lord and go with it. I've learn to go with the flow, literally, stop pushing and pulling to have things MY way because in the end the lesson is always the same for me "you pushed and fought and resisted but once it was done, you realized it was for the best".

Psalms 55:22:
"Give your burdens to the Lord. He will not permit the Godly to slip nor fall."

I Peter 5:7:
"Casting all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you."

So, it's in his hands, we're moving for a reason, I may not know what it is right now and honestly I probably DON'T need to know the why's at this moment, I'm sure it will all be revealed at a later date.

Moving on, I added the recipe for the Cheesy Kielbasa Bake at my food blog. Go on and take a look if you're interested.

I also want to share something else with you, I found this great idea for a quilt, I have tons of Charm Squares laying around and was drawing a blank on what to do with them, but no more. Take a look at how Wendy is doing hers. Oh the possibilities!

I can see some nice quilts being made this fall :)

And with that I'm off to the post office and then have to get some housework done, good thing about moving, I'm already packing things in boxes LOL

God Bless,

  1. They did the whole moving people into new housing when we were in Grand Forks. I loved my old house and wouldn't have wanted new housing either. It ended up not mattering because we were PCSing to Vermont - we actually made out good because we didn't have to get our house cleaned and inspected because they were tearing it down. I loved that!!
I hope the process is smooth for you all and you love the next place you are to call home!

  4. I had no idea the military was like college in that way. We had to pay for marks or pin pricks in the walls.

I remember clearly the day I realized my skin was aging!

  7. What a pain ! At least they will move you and you will get 5 days with Curt ! I'd love to have Rory home for 5 days !! Even if it was for moving !! :)

So ... one of these days you'll have to give us some hints and tips on how to do templates ... I've played around a bit. I can change make things wider, add borders, those sort of simple things. But ... like the pattern for your background. Is that something you found on line ? scanned in ? see ... I'm really a template idiot ! Maybe you should do a post called "Templates for Dummies !" ha ha !!

Can't wait to see how the quilt turns out !!

  8. It is amazing how things just don't work like they used to isn't it! It makes me a little scared to see what the next 10 years are going to bring.
    Good luck with your move!

  9. I hope you get a house that is just right for your family. You have a great attitude about it. One way to have everything cleaned and organized is to move!

  11. I loved hearing you say "it will all be revealed at a later date." So true! But sometimes hard to remember, right? We've gotta cling to that little kernal of truth at times :)

    Hang in there!

  12. Hi there. I can't imagine moving, and for that fact often. But I imagine that is the way it is with a military family. You have a very good attitude about it though. Thanks for your visit to my blog...
    Have a great day!

  13. Good Morning Sandra,
I will be praying your move goes smoothly. You know, we moved from our house in August of last year and we still don't have everything out. We need to get a move on in doing it tho. One never knows how much they have accumulated over the years until they start moving. And when you have kids, well, there's even more to move. LOL. They want to take everything. LOL. I know we don't always know what GOD has planned for us, but HE will reveal it to us in HIS time and not ours. Sorry I missed the SCT yesterday. Since my DH has been home, I haven't done any posting. I felt the need to spend my time with him. Hopefully next week things will get back to normal and I'll start my regular posting again. I know what you mean about not being able to do the things you used to. When we first got married, I would rearrange our living room every week. LOL. Not now tho. I have so many aches and pains that it's all I can do is just to get the necessary things done. Those Charm Squares are beautiful and I know they would make a beautiful quilt. Can't wait to see what you do with yours. Take care my friend and have a great day. Don't overdo yourself. May God Bless You and Yours.

    Love & Hugs,
    Karen H.
