I used to think that I could fight it, if I just tried hard enough I could overcome the need to read constantly, to grab books, to smell the pages (please tell me I'm not the only one that does that)...but it's stronger than me, so even though I have yet to finish 4 books from the library, I rechecked them out and ended up coming back with 1...ok maybe 2....actually it was 3. Still don't believe me do you? Alright, I'll come out and say it, 6 books.... but one is a cookbook so that doesn't count right?
Anyway, let me share with you what I checked out....before I do though I just have to tell you what Nicholas just said LOL He took his firetrucks and put one on top of the other in a way to make a rollercoaster kinda thing...then he says "look mommy, look at my new contraption". LOL
Sorry, but I don't even those those words so to hear a 5 year old say that just shocks me, in a funny kinda way LOL

Oh btw, I'm sure you've noticed the template change again. This is the one I was working on when I messed something up last week, didn't have a chance to finish it until this morning...so don't worry, I'm keeping this one up for a bit, I just love the banner picture, makes me think I'm out on a farm somewhere surrounded by beautiful flowers, butterflies and warm sunshine.
Dinner tonight is a Vegetable Lasagna, as always the recipe will be up on the food blog later. Breafast tomorrow will be Waffles with Vanilla Custard...YUM....recipe will follow too.
Enjoy the rest of your saturday, I know I'll enjoy mine :)
Hi Sandra
ReplyDeleteI must say the template is lovely :) and the books look very interesting especially Carmines Family Style Cookbook! I will try and remember the restaurant when in New York ( which hopefully will be soon)Have a great weekend.
The new template is lovely (like that Laura Ingalls quote), but then I have enjoyed all of your creations!
ReplyDeleteYES, I do love the aroma of books..old, ancient, brand new, hardback, paperback, off a library shelf, in a used bookstore (heaven!)...they are all special smells. I guess the old saying "she had her nose in a book", was more than just reading!!
Libraries and bookstores are like candy stores to me (though I do like chocolate!) and I can't resist the enchantments of the printed word. I DO enjoy a good movie, too, but I enjoy upbeat ones...I just watched The Santa Clause...whoa! December is getting close!!
Peace be with you,
Elizabeth
i need to get to the library, its been ages since i read...I crochet allot, but really should read a little also..:-)
ReplyDeletetake care Sandra..
The new look is great. You will love those Liz Curtis Higgs books. I read them both and thoroughly enjoyed them! I heard her speak at a womens conference once and she was a great speaker too!
ReplyDeleteThe new look is awesome, you always come up with something amazing.
ReplyDeleteYour reading lists is great too!!
Oh yes, I'm a true book worm myself and have to fight with myself all the time to not collect too many so what I've been dong is buying them from book sales or even the library when they sell their old ones.. that way I can take my time reading them.
ReplyDeleteYou're not the only one that loves to smell them too.
Love the template. And I know EXACTLY what you mean when you say you love to smell the books. When they are new is the best. Hmmm, wonder if they make a candle in that scent? LOL. My hubby thinks I'm nuts when I do that. LOL.
ReplyDeleteLOVE those LCH books. I DEVOURED them a couple of years ago. So good.
ReplyDeleteDinner and dessert sound SO good and perfect for Fall!

ReplyDeleteSandra - you are so not alone on the books - you should see me to read list!! And I too love that feel and smell of a real book. I just can't get used to ebooks. Ironic with as much time as I spend on the computer. LOL Love your new, new look over here.
ReplyDeleteMy pileth runneth over with bookeths. Yes, a true book hoarderer here too. I have been know to fake not feeling well, on Christmas day, just to finish a good book. Funny by the time I reached the last page of the book I felt just fine. My sister did bust me and promised not to tell if I let her borrow the book. Guess who was tucked away later than day.....
ReplyDeleteI have read Liz Curtis Higgs, though not the top one I don't think. Are you going to read them in order? I think the book about Lianna is first.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking of reading them again.
Loving the new template !!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the reading thing! I have four books going at the moment! My husband thinks I'm crazy to read more than one at the same time ! But, I just can't help it !! Don't even get me started on cookbooks ! I check at least 5 or 6 out a week !! Truth be told, I much prefer recipes from on-line ... but I just can't resist the urge to check out cookbooks and flip through them !!
Yes i will admit it. I am a bookaholic also. I smell the pages and check out books even though my to be read pile is too long to post about. I can totally relate to you. I think the cookbook is one I would really like.
ReplyDeleteI love the template, Sandra! And I know exactly what you mean about books. I can't rest if I don't have a pile waiting to be read, and I too love the smell of new books.
ReplyDeleteI popped down to our very tiny library yesterday to re-activate my card after years of no use, and I have to say I was really disappointed - the books were not new and exciting. Most looked as though they had been there decades, and not one of the authors I had on my list were there. I may have to go and see on the computers there what can be ordered. Sigh. Or it will be Amazon again and that growing list!
Have a great Sunday!
I know exactly what you mean about books...I have a pile of four books from paperbackswap but I just got three more at the library this week.
ReplyDeleteSomehow they'll all get read but there will always be more waiting in the wings!
Ohhhhh thank you! The 'Miss Julia' books look like fun.
ReplyDeleteI put a hold on this one, in my library system. Then found that the one dated 1999, is in my own library and put a hold on it. I think maybe this 1999 one is the first in the series, but I'm not sure.
I neeeeeeeeeeeed a fun series, like this one sounds to be. Thank you again!
Miss Mari-Nanci
Yes, I too am a book smeller. lol Looks like we are not alone.
ReplyDeleteI could spend a fortune on books if I allowed myself!
Can't wait to hear your reviews on the Liz Curtis Higgs books! I've been meaning to pick up more of her books.
Sherry
love the new look!
ReplyDeletelove Liz Curtis Higgs ever since I was a baby Christian & discovered Bad Girls of the Bible--so meaningful to me. Her fiction is great too.
I've got McLeod's Daughters in my netflix queue now & I'm going to put those murder mysteries on hold at the library!
Oh you must read the Liz Curtis Higgs books in order...they are so good (and very addictive)!! They stir up a lot of emotion (some good and some bad)!!
