Let's talk kids birthdays and parties etc. If you're anything like us, a few months before the birthdays, we start planning, we start figuring out if we're going big or small, if we're having a party for all their friends or just a few or if we're doing it at home or at a venue.
No matter where we do ours we always need the supplies and they can get pretty expensive at times. Now the reason I'm bringing this up is because both Jasmine and Nicholas have their birthdays in April, two weeks apart to be exact, but they're in completely different age groups and with completely different tastes when it comes to the themes etc.
One place I've found that I'm able to get everything I want and even let the kids sit and help me pick, is Birthday Express. It's hard sometimes to find all the birthday party supplies in one place AND of whatever kind the kids want.
Nicholas LOVES LOVES LOVES Super Mario, he is just completely obsessed with it and has been begging me for a theme party using Super Mario Bros.. But honestly, let's face it, it's not something that I can find that easily, so when I found the birthday party supplies at Birthday Express today I was SO excited, I can't wait to show him.
How cool is this?
He is going to be over the moon.
Now Jasmine, well she's going to be ten and her mind changes every single day about what she likes and doesn't like, so there's a few options for her. I like the fact that you can mix and match the birthday party supplies.....you can even buy the favor packets and extras etc.
She LOVES dogs though, so I'm thinking this one may be an option:
I think when the kids get home, I'll sit down with them and look through Birthday Express some more and see what we can come up with....it makes party planning so much more enjoyable.
If my kids were young, I'd be checking this place out. Those things are so cute!
ReplyDeleteMario is so cute.. I'd love that for my B-day.. think I'm joking? My family gets a kick out of what I request for my birthday.. a lot of the time I ask for hotdogs and I always want a different desert.. sometimes a cheese cake and sometimes a pecan pie.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm a nut :)
but anyway I love your choices.. those dogs are so cute I wouldn't be surprised if she chooses them.
have fun
I love Birthday Express but their products can be kind of pricey, especially when you have two birthdays so close together. I have trimmed the costs by buying only a few themed items (usually from the cake decorating aisle at Michael's or A C Moore and with 40% off coupons). I then take the main color from the themed item - like the red or the blue from the Mario figure and buy solid color paper plates, napkins, cups, utensils and a tablecloth from the Dollar store - Dollar Tree or Dollar General usually has a pretty good selection of the basic colors if you have one near you. It helps to keep the costs down.

Super Mario would be soooo cool, I can even picture an obstacle of sorts that they have to go through and flag to raise at the end. I know, that's more old school Mario probably!
ReplyDeleteGirls that age are hard... Faith (niece) wants to be adult, even though she's still a kid, so it's hard to pick a theme. She has much older siblings though which probably contributes to that (23 and 20).
I LOVE birthday themes and have done one every year for my daughter. I often have a treasure hunt...simpler clues when young and more complicated when older. One year was a Mystery Theme and I got dry ice (from a local ice house) and set it out in bowls around the backyard and doused with water so it puddled "smoke" onto the ground!! For future thoughts as the kiddos get older: Amanda turned 14 last October and I thought up 14 presents for the letters A to N, that she would like...a couple of pricey gifts, but mostly funny ones and she had to guess how the letter fit the present. It was good fun..family and friends helped get the prezzies.
ReplyDeleteOn a Pokemon Birthday a few years back I went to a website that had characters to be printed out...I picked her favorites, printed them out, and put them on index cards to hang from string all around the birthday room (dining room)! FUN!
You have fun too...'cause they really will love whatever you put together. Mario rocks, and those In Your Face dogs and GREAT!
oooh, we LOVE the Birthday Express catalog! It's one that my son likes to keep until we get the next one so there is always one in the house! This year he is turning 7 and has decided on an Army theme. The min-golf place we're going to provides the napkins, plates, etc but we will do an army cake.
ReplyDeleteI've gotten Birthday supplies from them before and it was good.
ReplyDeleteWe only do 1 Birthday party with friends and that usually happens around age 10.
Our daughter's birthdays are April 29 and May 8. So we are also planning birthday parties. We use to do all the decorations but now that they are a bit older we gave them the option of birthday party or going out to dinner then shopping. We let them pick out their gift. Then on the weekend we usually get together with my siblings for a small party.
ReplyDeleteI will have to start thinking of McKenna's 4th birthday party. Her birthday is in May.It really is around the corner.
ReplyDeleteI need to plan something for Blue's birthday NOW! I'm having trouble coming up with ideas. I also like that web store you mentioned. It does have variety!
