Teacher Gifts

Photobucket

It's that time of the year again, school is about to end and I'm trying to figure out what to give the kid's teachers.

I usually do homemade gifts but with all the sickness and other stuff going on around here, it completely slipped my mind.

So now, here I am, trying to figure out what to give them.....just 3 days before school ends. Oh Lord what did I get myself into.

I think that I need to turn to what I do best and what I'm good at, and that is crafts, using my hands to create something and also, I believe that handmade goodies are always appreciated right?

Here's what I've come up with so far, the kids kinda pushed me in this direction because they both said they wanted apples for the teacher....so I thought, well, if I can make donuts and cupcakes, I'm sure I can make an apple? Right? Right...well I set off looking for a good and easy pattern and I did find one or two.

What do you think so far? I've made two red apples and my idea is to make 3 each for each teacher, so a red, green and a yellow apple. I just hope they like it.

But now this is where you come in and help me out, I want you to give me ideas for homemade gifts....here's the catch though, I don't want to spend any money, well I couldn't even if I wanted to, with my car needing repairs and Curt's birthday on Friday too, cash is kinda tight this month.

Here's what I'm looking for, easy, inexpensive, homemade, something I can make in 3 days (I know I know, I'm asking for a lot, but help a girl out).

Will you help me? If you do, I'll even give you a big helping of Bubble Pizza? Yeah?

  1. Homemade gifts. I love these...you can do homeade jam this time of year....or homemade salsa int he summer with a bag of chips. Or breakfast sent is always nice. I love food gifts so that is my answer. Good Luck.

  2. I LOVE homemade gifts, Sandra! I think the apples are adorable! How about baked goodies w/apples in them? Like apple muffins or something? I know that baked items are always what I turned to when I need a gift in a pinch 'cause I usually have the ingredients on hand! Just a thought...

    Blessings!

  3. Very cute. I like the idea of your cute handknit washrags with a nice bar of soap or small bottle of liquid hand soap.

  4. The apples are so cute! How about an apple themed basket.

    *Apple themed baked good
*Print out apple themed recipe cards with the apple baked good recipe on the first card
*Homemade notecards with apples on the front
*Homemade dish towel or wash cloth with a homemade soap or scrub

Can't wait to see what you come up with!

  5. My hubby is a teacher and he loves food. I was thinking with the sweet little apples you could do some apple cookies or cake. The crocheted apples are darling.

  6. Do some of the soaps you made with the kids before,or you could make one of those cute little handbags you do and put a few of those apples in it with notes attached tell the teacher some of the things the kids enjoyed about her class this year. Toss in a real apple or baked treat too!

  7. I think your little apples are adorable !

I make homemade cards as gifts. 6-10 depending on how much time I have and how simple I make them ... I use scraps of paper, stickers, stamps, scrapbooking supplies, ribbons, a name printed on pretty paper, paintings done by the kids that you can cut up ... you know, anything really. Make sure to include an envelope with each. Tie 'em up with a ribbon, attach a "handmade for you" note to the ribbon. Someone did it for me once and included a tea bag on the ribbon. It was a pretty touch. Sometimes I will include a nice pen with the pack ... the options are limitless !!

Can't wait to see what you decide to do !!

  9. I think it should be something that the kids can help with too. So if you do the apples (ADORABLE) by the way, why not do a homemade apple jelly or jam? That's easy and quick- and who wouldn't appreciate that? THEN, you can figure out how to tie the apples you made to the jar... that'd be cute. :)

  10. Hi!

The apples are adorable! I am going to hunt myself a pattern - I think I may be needing a mini fruit bowl for my desk!

Last year one of the girls in my class gave me this little book, just 6 pages, that she had made with all the things we had done in the last year that she had liked and I loved it!

I think anything that the kids have made or been a part of will go down really well! Or food, certainly! :)

  12. Love the apples and so will their teachers. Possibly have the kids write a note detailing what they enjoyed about the school year. You could also take some of the gorgeous lemons and make some cookies. Good luck!

  14. The apples are adorable. How about a small basket (thrift store) with the apples, some of your homemade soap or such with a handmade thank you card from the kids?

I'm finally back (from the trip to Boise and California) and am playing catch up.

    Hope you're all feeling better.

  16. Those are so cute! Maybe I'll make some for myself...LOL! Since I'm my children's teacher. I crack myself up! Anyway, how about a mix in a jar? I have a ton of recipes if you'd like one I'll email it to you.

Also, I have a couple of goodies for you! Hint, they are from the museum we go to a lot. If you are comfortable doing so email me your address and I'll get them out to you in the mail.

  17. The apples are just too cute for words!!! They are precious. What about apple cinnamon muffins? That would be too cute. And let the kids help you do a thank you card with an apple on it.

  18. I dont do crafts but I do bake...so that is what I would do. Looks like everyone has given you some good ideas so with your "Craftyness", lol, and baking skills, well the teachers might just want to hold your kids back a year so they can get more goodies!!! LOL
