I think it's due to the fact that when the kids are in school our lives are so busy with so much day and day out and by the time my head hits the pillow, I'm pooped, I don't have the energy to keep my eyes open to watch anything.
Summer is like my catch up time, time to sit back and get caught up on all my shows so here's what I've been indulging in.
*Little House on the Prairie Season 1*
I'm sure I don't have to tell you about the wonderful Ingalls family and the sweetest TV show ever.
It's been years and I mean years since I've seen the series and actually I don't even remember them anymore, so watching them again from Netflix has been a mixture of surprise and excitement.
You can't help but smile big when you're watching it but it also makes me yearn for the simpler times and how they made do with everything they had and yet were always smiling and happy. I love that
* Harper's Island*
Do any of you watch this series on CBS? I know that Jen does and likes it as much as I do.
I have said before I'm all into paranormal and ghost shows but one genre I also enjoy is horror and thriller and I think this show has a little of both.
Imagine a wedding party on an island and right from the first show the guests begin getting killed off.
I tell you, usually you can get an idea of who the killer is but this show is so well written that you just don't know. Every single episode leaves you shocked and confused as to who it could be, there have been a few that I thought were it, only to have them get killed or ruled out.
*Earth 2100*
If you missed this special on ABC, I suggest you go back and watch it, but be forewarned because it was one of the most shocking and terrifying shows I've seen in a long time.
I watched it with Curt and we both sat in silence not quite sure what to say, all we could do was steal quick glances at each other and shake our heads.
It brings home the fact that we have been so careless with our planet and just what those actions are going to do to the planet and our life in the future. Please watch if you get a chance.
*Star Trek Movie*
Ok was I the only one left wanting more and wondering why it seemed like the movie was just way too short?
No? Oh good because I watched it and then sat there thinking "there has to be more to this".
What an absolutely AMAZING movie. We're pretty big Trekkies here at home I mean, anytime Star Trek The Next Generation is on the TV we have to watch it, no matter how many times we've seen the episodes.
I really enjoyed this movie, I thought it was well done and the young Capt. Kirk and Spock are really cute too LOL
Special effects and stunning sets and great actors, I loved it and I am hoping they turn it into a series or at least make a few more. Anyone else?

So that's just a little peek at the kind of things I've been watching, but now I'm going to have to take a two week break as we get ready for our vacation to Texas.
We're happy to be taking a break and a nice road trip but this means I need to dive into list making and packing.
That's where you'll find me.
Oh but don't worry, I'm taking my laptop with me and that means YOU all along, I'll take photos, I'll check in and post as much as I can and share our vacation every step of the way.
For now, I'm going to go and start on those lists and lay down for a bit, I'll just say, women stuff if you catch my drift *wink wink*
Have a blessed day!
I love Little House too. I haven't seen any of the others.
ReplyDeleteHave fun getting ready for the trip!
No longer owning a Tivo, summertime is the only time I can get caught up with shows. Finally finished McLeod's Daughters and LOVED it, can you recommend any more like this?
ReplyDeleteYou and Jen have got me convinced I should check out Harper's Island. I love this genre too.
ReplyDeleteYour two week trip to Texas sounds wonderful. I haven't been back to TX, where I was born, in 40 years if you can believe that, but now that my sister Bev is about to move back there, I know for sure I'll be going back soon too.
Have a wonderful trip - I look forward to hearing all about it.
I haven't watched Little House in a long time, might be something good to add to my queue!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a fun trip! Looking forward to pictures.
i think i may have to see if i can get the little house series from the library. i think my kids might be old enough that they would enjoy it now ...
ReplyDeleteI loved the Little House series as a kid and I still do. We can't wait to see the Star Trek movie and I'm pretty excited the next Harry Potter movie is being released in July.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful and fun vacation!
Have a great road trip.
ReplyDeleteI am watching Harper's Island too and can't figure out who the killer is. I think they want us to believe it may be the sheriff, but I think he is being set up and in fact may be a booby trap if you watched last nights coming attractions.
have a great time on your trip..Lots of pics, please..:-)
ReplyDeleteThat Harpers Island looks pretty interesting... My favorite show is Ice Road Truckers!! New season, too.
ReplyDeleteI love Little House.
ReplyDeleteHarper Island is one of my favorites!
Sandra:
ReplyDeleteI have actually found some time this morning and thought I would visit a few of my favorite blogs. I have been so busy but I really miss keeping up with everyone's posts. I think of it as having a neighborhood of good friends.
I too spend too much time watching TV but try to use that time to quilt so I redeem the time. I have all the Little House series on tape and love to watch them over and over.
I really miss Happy Homemaker and hope to be back with you as soon as hubby and I get our To Do list managed.
Have a Wonderful Week!
The Raggedy Girl
We have Little House on the Prairie and that is what got us thru the ice storm.....I also love harpers island and knew you would too....lol.
ReplyDeleteLoved the Star Trek movie. I'd love to see it again and will be renting or buying it for sure. I've been thinking of buying Little House series. Can you believe our library does not have it?
ReplyDeleteSandra, I had to laugh. In Australia we can now purchase up to Season 6 of Little House on the Prairie and the next few seasons will come out here soon enough too. I spend each school holiday time drinking in new episodes. When we've seen them all we'll just have to go back and watch some more!
ReplyDeleteTo 'Our Neck of the Woods', if you like Aussie drama series (I LOVED McLeod's Daughters...very sad it got axed) then you'll like some others like these:
All Saints (still going!)
The Flying Doctors
Blue Heelers
Some new shows out now that are excellent:
Sea Patrol
Packed to the Rafters
If you like older stuff, then check out 'A Country Practice'.
