One of my favorite times of day........

2009_07270040

That is my kitchen window and it's bathed in sunlight, beautiful orange and pinkish light from the setting sun.

Every evening around 7pm, I get to walk into the kitchen and just smile. Usually around this time, the dinner is long finished, the dishes are done, the kitchen is clean and the candles are burning. It's by far one of my favorite times of the day.

Let me show you yesterday's sunset, I think it's the one thing about Arizona that I'll miss when we move, whenever that is *snicker*

I love the sun hitting the walls outside.

There's just something about the Arizona sunsets!

But apart from the sunsets, this time of the day is when everything starts slowing down, the noise outside begins diminishing, the kids are sitting back and relaxing and winding down getting ready for bed.

So this is pretty much what you'll see laying around the house.........

He's 6 years old but he still has the baby toes which I adore, I can't resist baby toes all cute and chubby.

My beautiful girl, she's growing so fast and entering into a new phase of her life, the one that includes training bras and such *snicker*

I can't believe it, I just want to grab her and keep her little but alas I can't so I have to just watch and prepare myself for this chapter in her life.

These two little ones bring so much joy to my life and I keep thinking that I haven't really been taking photos of them as much as before, I may just have to remedy that because I know the family back home wants to see them more.

Do you have a favorite time of the day too?

Well dinner time awaits, I best get on out of here and start on that pizza dough. Oh and if you're in the mood for some great quick and easy butter cookies, be sure to check out my food blog "Full Bellies, Happy Kids".

  2. Sandra, I loved this post. :) I actually have two favorites times of day....early morning on my front porch swing when everything is so quiet and still, and late evening on my front porch swing when everything is cooling down for the day. Love it! Love it! :)

  5. Sandra,

I was just outside watching my little one ride her bike down to a friends a few houses down and noticed a cooler than usual day drawing to a close.

I too love our desert sunsets and sunrises, clouds make them brilliant and spectacular, but they will be the one shining treasure I too will miss when we move!

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  6. Wow ~ you do get great sunsets in Arizona! Your home is so cozy.

I love the sun setting too but my favorite time of the day is morning; I love seeing the sun rise and knowing a new day full of endless wonderful possibilities has begun.

  7. Sweet post. Although I am not much a morning person I think that is my favorite time of day. It is quiet and peaceful before the hustle and bustle of the day. Everything is waking up and there is promise of a new, wonderful day.

  8. Hi Sandra....loved the sunset pics and the toesies, too!

I can still remember my joy during summer vacation and the gearing up for "back to school." The kids and I sure had fun getting things ready for the "first day." Hope your last couple of weeks are the best.

    Love,
    Amy

  9. Sandra, my favorite time of day is the morning and the evening because of the sun streaming into my home.

I love the coment about your daughter growing up and using the training bras....my oldest daughter has reached a full blown bra and my younger daughter will be reaching the training bra stage this year. I struggle with my girls growing up and learning things about their bodies as it happens. I guess they all have to got thru it like we did.

I too wish we could just keep them little forever.

  11. I love the cool of the morning when the children are still tucked quietly and snuggly in bed. This is when I sneak in some quiet time for me!

I also love the evening when the entire family is together from the day's responsibilities and we are gathered for family time.

Your evening pictures are absolutely beautiful! I can only imagine what it might be like in person.

  16. Loved your pictures! I'm originally from Arizona, but now live in Delaware, and the sunsets are definitely something I miss seeing every day! My girls are so fascinated by them when we go back and visit my family, they love all the different colors.

Oh, and I totally relate to what you were saying about your daughter! I don't want mine to grow up either, it's happening way too fast! :)

  17. I loved your pictures! The picture of Jasmine is beautiful! For my favorite time is in the evening as the girls are getting settled down and ready for bed. It's so peaceful and sweet! And we get to cuddle and snuggle while reading books, talking, or even watching something on tv.

  18. Beautiful photos!
Evening is my favorite time of the day, especially in the summer. It is the time of day when things start to cool down but heat still radiates from the ground, the night birds and bats come out, the crickets begin to chirp, and the air actually feels softer. I get to enjoy fabulous pink and orange sunsets, too.
Enjoy the kids while you can. Sometimes my 19yo will nap on the couch and I find myself just watching her sleep with a tear in my eye. When she sleeps I can still see traces of her younger years in her face. Those last 20 years just flew by much too fast!
You will cherish these photos when your darlings have grown.

  20. Awesome pictures. I am a foot person too and there is nothing cuter than little kids feet. As for my most favorite time of day, it is definitely evening, around 8pm ...especially in the summer when it is still warm!
