One down....
It's that dreaded time of the year, you know, the sniffles and coughs, the fevers and sore throats?
Without fail, my children are always one of the first to get hit with whatever is going around so right now, there's one down in the household.
Nicholas stayed home today, low grade fever, runny nose, this horrible cough and just downright cruddy feeling. I hoped we would luck out this year and totally skip this flu season but it seems it's not going to happen.
Everywhere I look there are sick mommies and daddies and school kids, I'm just praying that we can all get through this time of the year with minimal sickies.
I'm sitting here with a cup of hot tea and honey, my throat has that itchy thing going so I'm thinking I may just be next in line, prayers that I don't.
I've managed to finally catch up with all my bloggy friends and boy did I miss a lot, I'm just glad that I am finally up to date, it's much easier to open the Google reader when you don't have 1000 new posts. YIKES!
We're still here in Arizona and can't wait to leave, it's been two years where we've made do but never really grew used to it, it's just not for us.
To say that I don't feel safe in this area is also an understatement, you would think living on a military base you would not have to worry about certain things but the fact is that you do. We've had a couple of robberies right outside the gates and then they jump into the base. Unbelievable!
Just this past weekend, Sunday night to be exact, we were woken up around midnight with two loud explosions, it scared the bejeebers out of me, turns out there was some sort of Swat Team across the road bursting into an apartment.
I can't even make this stuff up, it's that ridiculous. So yes, to say we're ready to leave this area is an understatement.
It's all in the Lord's hands and I'm sure we'll be fine and when the time is right, we'll move on from this base.
Anyway, I just wanted to come and check in with everyone, I best be off to help kids with homework and baths and all that other fun night time routine. Once they're settled in for the night, I'll be having myself a cup of yummy hot Mexican chocolate and popping in another disc of Little House on the Prairie or Supernatural...not sure yet which I'm in the mood for.
I hope you're all enjoying this wonderful Tuesday, don't forget to bundle up, you don't want to be getting sick right now.
That nasty bug is going around here too. Co-workers and family members are pretty sick. It seems early in the year to be starting. Hope you stay healthy.
ReplyDeleteI'll be so happy for you when you can move. I know it's just not been home there and with this crazy stuff going on, it's even worse!
Scary when you are not even safe on a military base! Strange world we are living in.
ReplyDeleteHope that your little guy is feeling well soon and that the rest of you don't catch it!
hope you don't catch the bug!
ReplyDeleteit's going around our school too -ick!! HOpe you & Nicolas feel better SOON!!
ReplyDeleteThis is probably a silly question, but do you have the kids on any vitamin C suppliments? A 500mg twice a day sounds like a must for them.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you don't feel safe! We aren't actually in the gates so we are subject to all of it...but our area is good so we haven't had any problems.
Sounds like what we just got over. Sorry to say all six of us succombed to it within the past 2 weeks. It seems we pick every bug possible, I really begin to dread the winter months for that reason.
ReplyDeleteI'll pray that the rest of your family dodges this crud.
Where would you move were you given the opportunity to choose, Sandra? I'd be interested to hear (read) what you find to be a dream locations. And you can't say in Little House on the Prairie!LOL
ReplyDeleteHealth to you all! Come stop by the blog if you've got a moment- you can live vicariously through it in BEAUTIFUL Georgia!:-)
I hope you don't catch the bug. We've had a few already this year.

Hope you and Nicolas and you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard when you live in an area where you don't feel safe. Unfortunately that happens a lot this day and time.
Take care ~
Glad you're back to blogging, Sandra!! I know you miss Mtn. Home very much, we weren't there for long, but there are some days that I do miss Idaho.
ReplyDeleteHow much longer until Curt retires? I think I've read before that you guys plan on moving back to Idaho, right?
Hope Nicholas gets better and the bug doesn't spread around in the family. We just got over the flu here!
Sandra,
ReplyDeleteSO sorry to hear that the nasty bug has invaded your home. The good news is that by getting it now, hopefully you won't experience any more as the weather gets colder. Hope you are all feeling much better soon!
Love and Hugs ~ Kat

ReplyDeleteits starting early this year...

There is a lot of sickness early this year. I 'm hoping we get through it unscathed.
ReplyDeleteI pray you all are feeling better very soon! I know the feeling since 2 out of my 3 girls have been hit with something and my throat was scratchy yesterday :( God bless ya!
ReplyDeleteI had to check out your recipe blog that I saw on Mari's post.
ReplyDeleteI've just recently started blogging and haven't yet learned how to put a pretty page up like yours.
We've been advised here to use salt water to gargle with twice a day and sea mist in the nose twice a day to keep from getting the flu.
Sandra
Hope your little ones get to feeling better soon and praying your don't get sick yourself.
ReplyDeleteMexican hot chocolate sounds really good right about now. It's a true comfort beverage.
