Happy Homemaker Monday #48

Good morning.

Hope everyone's weekend went well.  I have to say that mine was very weird in the sense that I've just been very discombobulated since Friday's tragedy.

I just haven't felt right, haven't been able to really get back into the Christmas mood.  It's like I have this black sad cloud hanging over my head, and I've prayed and prayed and prayed for the families, for the beautiful angels and for all of us who have been impacted by this tragedy.

Hoping for a good week and most of all, hoping that all the children returning to schools today feel safe.

The Weather:::
43 degrees, it's nice and chilly actually and I'm enjoying every second :)

Right now I am:
Writing up this post , taking my last sip of a lukewarm cup of coffee and thinking about what all I need to get done today.

Thinking:
That I hope every single child returning to schools all over the country, feel safe.  That these tragedies never happen again and that the people of this beautiful nation can pull together and work through this sadness.

On my reading pile:::
Just finished Patchwork Dreams by Laura Hilton.  Very cute quick Amish read.

On my tv:::
World Without End
Winners and Losers (Australian series that I just found yesterday, looks interesting)
Kirstie's Handmade Christmas

Favorite Blog post this week (mine or other):::
Newton as I know it by Simple Homeschool.   Beautiful post.

Something fun to share:::
I honestly can't think of anything fun right now.

Tuesday - Empadas de Carne (Portuguese Beef pastries)
Wednesday - Homemade noodles with sauce
ThursdayRoast chicken with roasted veggies
Friday - Country fried steak, mash potatoes and green beans

On my to do list:::
Laundry - loads to wash, others to fold and put away, and one to iron
Wrap a few last presents
Some homeschooling paperwork

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
Working on my Bavarian Crochet.  Finishing up my hubby's Zombie Mug Cozy.

Homemaking Tips:::
One thing I do every night, is to set the breakfast table right after dinner.  That way everything is ready for the next morning.  Mugs, bowls, cereal boxes, silverware etc.  All I have to do in the morning is set out juice, milk or refrigerator items.

Looking around the house:::
Of course the teen is still asleep.  Haha  Nic is playing with the pugs and my hubby is doing some schoolwork online.  I am typing up this post and here shortly we'll be moving to the kitchen to enjoy breakfast as a family.  I need to do a little pick up in the living room, rearrange the gifts under the tree as I think someone's been touching and looking LOL

On my prayer list:::
Still praying for our sweet friend Lorraine, the Flowerlady.
Praying for all the children and teachers returning to schools this morning.
For this country, for it's people.

Bible verse, Devotional:::
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.
1 John 3:18

  1. I know exactly how you feel -- I'm feeling the same way. D.'s friend from high school lives in Newtown and his child goes to Sandy Hook. He is, thank the Lord, fine, but this hits so close to home that it's surreal. I'm trying HARD to put on a "game face" for the kids, and I might be overcompensating with Christmas activities suddenly, but... it is definitely hard to feel joyful.

  2. Doing my best to stay in the Christmas spirit too. I keep counting my blessings, it helps me feel close to the Lord and grateful for all that He does for us. I know He is mindful of us and has a plan for each of us. Carol, I'm glad to hear that your son's friend's child made it out okay. That's wonderful news.

  3. I am always so inspired by your posts. I will be reading the blog post you shared and hope my readers read yours from Saturday. Hmmm...did you go to Flagstaff by chance? We lived in Cottonwood and worked in Flagstaff for a couple years. Have a good week.
