I believe.....

that we are all born with multiple talents.

I believe that we should do whatever we can to the best of our abilities.

Believe.

I think that is going to be my word for this year, such a simple statement but so powerful.

One of the things I believe in, is making things for the home, but of course I don't have to tell you all that because you know that about me already.  Gosh I hope not ad nauseum Hahaha

So to start this year off, I have chosen to jump right into creativity mode and to not put anything off until tomorrow or next month, or after I move or, or, or, or...you know how it goes right?

My first project for this year is finishing my quilt which I started last month, and I have the top ALL.DONE.  I'm so excited.

Tomorrow I need to make a trip to JoAnn's to find the right fabric for the back.  Can't wait to show you all.

I've also started another quick project, not sure yet what I'll use them as, but we'll see.

Now to show you my day, from morning to night :)

Sometimes people think that decorations for your home need to be very expensive, or purchased at specialty stores. I happen to think that the best ones are made by you, when you take a few items and turn them into a work of art.

This is my kitchen window and that is a dried orange garland. The easiest thing to make but it looks so pretty.

All you need is an orange
about 1/4 cup sugar, though I didn't use quite that much, just enough to cover the slices.

Slice the orange thinly and then lay them on a cookie sheet. I use parchment paper underneath, or you can use foil. Lay the slices next to each other, then sprinkle on the sugar.

Place in a 200 degree oven and bake for 2 1/2 hours or until edges are dried and the middles is translucent. You will have to flip them over halfway through to get the other side done. I also sprinkled a tiny bit of cinnamon on mine.

Attach to twine and hang them up. That's it :)

While I put the garland up, the boy brought his toys into the kitchen and set them up on the table. It brings a smile to my face when I find toy laying around, it serves to remind me that my kids are still little and still enjoy toys and I can enjoy THEM for a little while longer.

Used one of my new dishcloths which I made in a smaller size, it's about the size of my hand and I love it.

Also changed out the kitchen curtains so they could be washed.

Hubby started his college classes back up today, so dinner had to be ready by 4pm.

It never leaves me much time for anything on class days, I feel like I sit down to do something and have to immediately get up to start prepping our meal.

I did pull out my sewing machine and sewed on the last few rows of the quilt top.

Soon as that was done, it was into the kitchen

I made some Chicken Veggie Fajitas, paired those with some Spanish rice and a salad and that was that.

With dinner out of the way, I quickly cleaned the kitchen, got the dishes loaded in the washer and after rounding up the kids and making sure they got their showers out of the, and mine of course...I dug through my fabric stash for some remnants for that other project I mentioned above.

Now I'm watching some mindless TV while crocheting. I think I just like the sound of the TV in the background, it's almost like having people chatting beside you.
