Do hope this post finds you all enjoying a good Sunday night.
I had a very relaxed day, got all my housework done yesterday so today I decided to really take it easy, do some reading, watch some shows and enjoy a quiet Sunday.
I told you the other day that I would show you what I've been dealing with in my backyard, so let me quickly give you a peek.
We live in an area that is predominantly filled with weeds. Not many yards are filled with just grass, you know, luscious green soft grass? I sure miss that, and we had it back in Idaho.
When Spring comes around here it's a tough battle to get the grass nice and green, and to get rid of all the pesky weeds and fungi.
We have some blades of beautiful grass here and there, but lots of fast growing weeds. It seems everyone is constantly mowing. And we're constantly out there pulling them by the roots, in an effort to stop them from regrowing.
The mushrooms, I have no idea what they are, but I know that many can be poisonous and I also know that I don't want them in the yard. If you have any suggestions on getting rid of them, please let me know, at this point I will try anything.
As Spring comes into full swing outside, inside I am also adding pops of color.
I find that in the Spring and Summer time, my home has a lot of greens, yellows and blues, as opposed to the darker reds, blacks and browns in the Fall and Winter.
My Easter Lilies are looking so lovely right now.
I think having plants in the house makes a huge difference, not only in the way they add to a room, but in the air quality too. I've found that ever since I've started keeping numerous plants in the house every day of the year, my son who has several allergies, has been doing really well.
We don't really do anything special for St. Patrick's Day, but I do always try to cook some things to celebrate. Irish Soda Bread is a favorite around here, and so are Bangers and Mash.
Yum!
Did you enjoy Corned Beef and Cabbage today? Or did you have something else?
Before I end this post, I wanted to tell you all about the movie and the show I watched today.
The first one was "The Impossible". I'm sure you've heard about it, it is based on the real life story of one of the families that survived the Tsunami of 2004.
It was a beautifully done movie, but I cried the whole hour and 50 minutes. It was heart wrenching, it was sometimes difficult to watch, and I felt drained by the time it ended. I had such a headache from all the crying I did, but even though it was so sad, I am glad I watched it, it was very good.
And then I watched live through ITV, the new documentary "Our Queen". What a fascinating and interesting show it was. You can watch it on UTV. You will however need to use the Expat Shield program I told you about previously.
I'm still waiting for other links online, and as soon as they are available I'll pass them on to you.
If you love England and you love the Royal Family and especially the Queen, you won't want to miss this one :)
So, those were some moments of my Sunday. Hope yours was as relaxing as mine. Tomorrow, back to the grind.
Have a busy week with lots of important things going on, amongst them my husband has a big test tomorrow so praying that he does well, and my brother and sister in law will be waiting to hear a decision this week that could change their lives, so I'm praying for them as well.
See you all bright and early for our Happy Homemaker Monday :)
Morning Sandra, so nice to see Spring at your place....Your Easter Lilly is so pretty, love the smell.....Good eats.... Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteGood idea to put out pops of color! I need to get better at getting over the fact we STILL have snow and just get in the Spring mood! :)
ReplyDeleteWe've recorded the programme about the Queen, looks good.
ReplyDeleteI didn't want Chatterbox to watch The Impossible with her friend at the cinema because I thought it would be too distressing for her. Such a sad subject.
Spring is springing, yay! :)
I love the pops of color everywhere! They make me super happy. I wish I had something I could tell you on how to get rid of those dreaded mushrooms. If you find something, please share, because you are not alone in that battle.
ReplyDeleteYour Bangers and Mash look amazing. We did Corned Beef, Cabbage, Potatoes, and Carrots. The kids wolfed it down and my husband even asked me why I don't cook more Irish meals.
Your Easter Lilies look beautiful. I love plants inside and outside the house. I'm always adding to my collection although sadly I'm often killing them off as well. It doesn't help that my house doesn't have a lot in the way of windows that the sun shines in directly.
