Hello everyone, come on in and sit with me a bit. It's been a while since I've done a Day in the Life and I have a few pics to share with you, just little corners of my home, things I've been doing and some Christmas decorations.
I feel like I have so much to share with you and not quite sure how to even get it all out of my mind.
Let me just say that for the moment we would appreciate some prayers as we deal with some family issues going on. It's nothing very serious and it's nothing health related but we are needing those prayers and good vibes sent our way.
Right, so what have I been up to? Well a little of this and a little of that, mostly living, being a mother and preparing for Christmas and dealing with a ton of mice that are in this house. We've caught 12 so far and if we catch anymore I am calling in an exterminator because this is quite ridiculous.
I've been so stressed lately, to be quite honest with you I'm looking forward to the new year because this one has just been a bit too much for me to handle. In order to stay calm and grounded, I've resorted to reading, watching a ton of vlogs on Youtube and working on some projects around the house.
It really does help to keep you grounded. :)
My to do list seems to be ever growing, no matter how many things I tick off. Tomorrow though I'll be making my Fruit Cake which I should have already made but it's ok, I still have two weeks until Christmas. I'll also be making some Mincemeat Pies, can't wait for those, haven't had any in so many years.
After all the food I ingested the past two weeks, my poor body has been so sad and crying for help. I've gone back to drinking water and trying to eat healthy, so here is what my breakfasts usually consist of.
Yogurt, granola and berries, or weetabix with some berries too. If I don't have either of those, then I'll usually have two pieces of cinnamon raisin or pumpkin spice bread, or a bagel with cream cheese.
Wrapped some presents using this adorable wrapping paper. I swear there are so many cute ones out there it's so hard to pick one.
Presents wrapped, boxed and ready to be mailed out to my family back in Idaho. I really do need to get to the post office soon though so it makes it there before Christmas, that would be a nice thing haha
Sent out my first stack of Christmas cards. Friends, every year I try to stay on the ball and get them all out, some years I'm brilliant at it, and some years I just plain suck at it and am lucky to get one in the mail.
This year, I'm on it and determined to send them all out. I've gone through one box, and I know I have a whole other new unopened box of cards, but for the life of me I can't remember where they are, especially after this last move. I really don't want to have to go buy more, but it seems that is exactly what I need to do.
This morning's sunset may just as have been one of my favorites ever, since moving to Texas. The sun rising, the dark trees, the Christmas lights, it was just such a beautiful combination, truly breathtaking.
My favorite candle for the holidays is the Snowman from Yankee Candle. Who knew snowmen smelled so lovely? Haha
I wanted to do actual wreaths but haven't had a chance, while on Instagram yesterday or maybe the day before, one of the Instagramers I follow had made a simple outdoor door decoration by simply hanging a bunch of Christmas tree branches from the door. That was perfect for me, because when we brought in our Christmas Trees, we had to trim a few branches from one.
So I gathered them all, tied a ribbon around the top, added a fake holly branch and tied it to the outer front door. The effect is quite beautiful, at least I think it is.
Here's a little sneak peek at my family room. I am in love with the tree we have in here, it's just so beautiful. I have to say I am not the best tree decorator, actually I get pretty frustrated with the placement of the ornaments cause I always think they are all in one area and not balanced out. I'm weird like that.
Here's what it looks like right now. I don't know if I mentioned but we got two real trees, one for each window. The local farm supply store was selling them for $19, which is so incredibly cheap and we couldn't pass up the opportunity.
I'll have to take pics of the other tree and show them to you, I did share one pic earlier in the week but it's at night, I'll photograph it tomorrow during the day and show you what it looks like.
Oh my goodness, I can't believe Christmas is in 16 days, where has this year gone?
Are you done Christmas shopping yet? I've only bought the ones for my family in Idaho and my mother and father in law, and I got one of my husband's but other than that??? Nothing, zilch, nada. I guess I like living on the edge, but I must get my butt in gear because time is running out.
Anyway, it's almost 9pm here and that means I need to get ready for bed, 5am comes around very quickly.
Wishing you a restful night and abundant blessings,
Sandra

ReplyDeleteSending lots of good thoughts to you! xx
ReplyDeleteI loved the tradition of Christmas card giving but with stamps being .85 cents apiece to mail within Canada I'm afraid it's becoming a lost tradition in my neck of the woods. I can't believe Christmas is almost upon us. I'm so behind this year and not too motivated for some reason. Sigh.
