A thriving garden and lots of yard work

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝒍𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒂 𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒂𝒚 𝒈𝒐 𝒖𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒅, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒄𝒚 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒔 𝒂 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆

God has given me the biggest gift in this world, which is to take care of my home and family, and with that in mind, every effort I make inside and outside my home, is well worth it.

I take a huge pride in my homemaking, as you all know, but homemaking for me is not just contained to 4 walls and the inside, it spreads into the outside too, the garden, the yard, and the property around it.

For years, I have dreamed of a garden filled with veggies of every kind.  I've tried over and over to make it work, and usually could get away with them starting to grow, but soon after they would die.  Wrong soil, too much water, not enough water, too hot, too cold, too much sun, too much shade and so on.  If you're a gardener you understand.



And so, a few months ago when I picked a small area in the back yard to start growing some things, I fully expected them to not make it, to wither away and for me to be completely disappointed again.

I had no idea that I had just picked the perfect spot in the yard for my veggies, fruits and herbs to thrive.

Now when I look at it I feel a huge sense of accomplishment, albeit, a little humorous since my cantaloupe is completely taking over the area and hubby and I have had to divert it's attention and guide it around and along the wall of the house.  Had I known then that these would be thriving, I would never have grown the cantaloupe in the spot that I did....but lesson learned and all that.

Same thing is happening with my tomatoes, my plant is growing so quick and so big that I am finding it hard to contain it.  I may need to go buy another cage to help it stay in one place.  It is filled with tomatoes, in all stages and sizes, from blossoms to teeny tiny babies, to green and then bright red plump beauties.  

But being outside is not all about my garden either, there is always something to and definitely something to see.  Living in the country means a constant showing of nature, and if you just take one moment to really look at what is around you, you'll be surprised.

These guys have been giving me jump scares, for the past few weeks.  They either jump right into my hair, grab onto my hands or straight at my face, sneaky little buggers they are.

The dragonflies though, are not only beautiful but so gentle.  They flutter right on by, land at my feet and stay there, seemingly completely unbothered by my camera or my presence in general.

And then there's this handsome fellow.  Remember I mentioned him last week?  I was able to capture him for a few seconds.

I shared this picture on my Happy Homemaker Monday and Rebecca mentioned that it looks like a Cattle Egret, and sure enough I googled it and that is exactly what it is.  I'm not surprised since we have a lot of cattle around us and in the area.

Back inside the house, the plants are thriving as well.  These two have actually been moved outside to the back patio table and they're loving being out there.

Honestly, if you want to start growing or tending to plants, I would suggest succulents, at least for me they are some of the easiest to keep alive.

Keeping a home is hard work, I've never understood people who have made comments about it being easy or not that big a deal.

There is always something to do, something to clean, something to fix, or something to tend to.

And at the end of a long day tending to the home or the gardens, there's nothing better than a home cooked, stick to your ribs meal.
