How was your weekend?
I had a wonderful one. Saturday, me and my girl went to get haircuts, then did a little browsing around the shops and grabbed a quick lunch at McAllister's, before dropping her off to work for the rest of the day. It felt good to have that one on one time, I think it's so important to do that with your kids.
Yesterday, the boys worked on the yard, mowing, cutting down some tree branches that had dipped way way low, then they went to Braum's to get lunch for everyone, and then went to the local park to walk around and spend some time together. Dad and son time, again, it's important to have that one on one time.
Later in the afternoon we all went to Sam's Club, I needed some things for the house, but we also just wanted to walk around. After getting home, everyone had a shower, and then Curt, myself and Jasmine sat down to watch a movie together.
You know life goes by so quick and the kids are growing, so these moments that we get together are very much appreciated.
Right, let's get going with our Happy Homemaker Monday, and see what we all have planned for the week.
The weather:::
Hot, really hot and about to get hotter. We have a slight chance for some thunderstorms throughout the week, and I'm looking forward to those to help us cool down a bit.
Monday - Mostly sunny, 92
Tuesday - Mostly sunny, 95
Wednesday - Mostly sunny, 94
Thursday - Mostly sunny with slight chance for thunderstorms, 94
Friday - Mostly sunny with slight chance for thunderstorms, 95
On the breakfast plate this morning:::
I'm starting the intermittent fast again, so I won't be eating until 11am. I've had my coffee already but as far as eating, nothing yet. I'll either have toast, or if I'm feeling like lunch at that time, I'll probably have a salad.
Right now I am:::
Working on this post. I already paid some bills, made hubby's lunch and got him off to work.
On my bedside table:::
TV remote, Firestick remote, glasses, bottle of water.
On my reading pile:::
The Summer of Sunshine and Margot by Susan Mallery
Movies or Shows I watched this weekend:::
Curt and I have started rewatching Star Trek The Next Generation. I love it, love it, love it, LOVE IT!!!
Yesterday we also watched Brightburn. Curt had already watched and it wanted us to watch too. It was pretty good.
On my TV this week:::
General Hospital
Homemaking vlogs
Star Trek
Revenge of the Land
On the menu for this week:::
I'm still posting my Meal Plan Friday, so if you haven't checked that one out, be sure to go and take a look.
Monday
Peanut Chicken Noodles
Tuesday
Taco Twists, Black Beans and Cilantro Lime Rice
Wednesday
Hay and Straw
Thursday
4th of July Barbecue (Burgers, Brats, Potato Salad, Frozen Key Lime Pie)
Friday
Pepperoni Pizza Loaf
On my to do list:::
Vacuum and dust house
Take Jasmine to work
Color Hair
Workout (yes, took 2 weeks off but getting right back on that horse, I'll share the workouts again)
Water all the plants and outside veggies
What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
Continuing with the crochet piece for my bedroom.
Looking forward to:::
4th of July Barbecue and Fireworks and having my hubby home for two days this week :)
Looking around the house:::
Birds have been uncovered and are happily chirping away. I've opened the curtains to let the morning sunshine stream on in, and I've opened the back door (keeping the screen closed), to let in the fresh air. The house is pretty quiet, Nick is asleep and Jasmine is too but she will be up soon for work.
From the camera:::
I will never stop loving crochet, there's something so relaxing and calming about it, not just the working through of a project, but looking at finished pieces.
What I'm wearing today:::
Still in my pajamas, but as soon as this post is done, I'll be getting into my workout gear so that I can get right on it when I get back from dropping Jas off. After workout I'll shower and then either pop on some shorts and a tank, or a summer skirt or dress.
One of my simple pleasures:::
Enjoying a cup of coffee on the patio, listening to the birds.
Bible verse, Devotional, prayers:::
“God gives the exact experiences he wants them to have in order to shape the specific destiny he designed for them.”

Sandra, I love, love, love your quote! We enjoyed fireworks tonight for Territory Day, well, my teen and I enjoyed them, my foster toddler had never seen them before and was really scared but a snuggle in mamas arms had him soon enjoying them. I too love looking at finished crochet projects, but sadly have never been able to quite get the hang of it myself. Maybe I will try again. Have a great week!

DeleteI agree... seeing the finished crochet projects are so nice! Love those pillows! I wish I could have them on my couch... but that dang dog of mine would destroy them! Have a great 4th!!
ReplyDeleteReally wish I would have stuck with it when my mom tried to teach me to crochet long ago. Maybe I'll see if there are any left-handed tutorials on you-tube :) That was a big sticking point for us. It was hard to grasp what she was doing since I was left-handed so all was opposite. Love that quote you shared. Hope you have a wonderful week and a fantastic Fourth of July!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quote! We really do need to remember that we are not the ones in control. Sounds like you have fallen into a wonderful summer routine and I love the one on one time you are spending with the kids - so so important to do! They grow up so fast!! Stay safe in the storms and have a WONDERFUL week.
ReplyDeleteack, my link went in with an old title, I changed the url to the happy homemaker post, but not the title! Is there a way to correct "no man is an island" to Not Afraid of color?? Oy technology is beyond me.

Good luck with the intermittent fasting! My husband was very diligent for a while with it and it really made a difference. He wants to get back into it. Your menu sounds delicious this week!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved your pictures of your finished crochet pieces, they always feel so homey. I try to make sure Mike and I get lots of family time and one on one time with each of the girls, like you I feel it's one of the most important things we can do as a family.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy having your hubby home! Hope y'all have a wonderful Fourth of July week.
I've always heard Susan Mallery books were fun - I need to add her to my list. I love seeing your crochet projects and one day I'm going to learn how to do it!! 😊 I hope you have a wonderful and blessed July 4th with very cooperative weather. Blessings dear Sandra! ❤️
ReplyDeleteYes, an awesome quote. I so enjoyed this post and so glad you see the value of one on one time. It will pass so quickly and you will long for one on one time. Have a wonderful 4th with your family!
ReplyDeleteIntermittent fasting? interesting. Yep cherish the moments with your children while you can
ReplyDeleteAs you can see, Sandra, I'm running way behind this week! I love the little crocheted pillows and I hope that you and yours had a lovely 4th of July! Blessings for the week ahead! <3
