Come on in and have a cup of coffee with me before we get going with our Happy Homemaker Monday for today.
I had a pretty good weekend, just feel like it flew right by and when the alarm went off at 6Am this morning, I was definitely not ready to get up.
I have a lot that I want to get done this week ahead, some painting, some crafts and I'm pulling out my Fall decorations, whether the weather is ready to cooperate or not. I'm done with the heat.
I hope you've all had a wonderful weekend and wish you a blessed week ahead.
Let's see what we have happening around blogland.

On the menu for this week:::
The next two weeks, I am making only Portuguese food. I've been missing it and so has the family, so everyone is excited about it. A lot of the things I'm making are already on the food blog Full Bellies, Happy Kids, but whatever is not, I will try to get on there soon.Monday - Lasagna de Pao (Bread Lasagna) and Salad
Tuesday - Carne de Alguidar (Portuguese Pork) with homemade fries
Wednesday - Tiras de Carne (Beef Tips) with Butter and Garlic Rice, Fried Okra
Thursday - Espargete Bolognesa (Bolognaise), Garlic Bread
Friday - Bifes com molho de natas (Steaks in cream sauce), Slow Cooked Potatoes
Saturday - Rissois de Atum com arroz de tomate (Tuna Rissoles and Tomato Rice)
Sunday - Leftovers
On my to do list:::
HomeschoolingIron a pile of laundry
Move dining room/couches (if you've followed me for a while, you know that when Fall comes around, I switch things around in the dining/den area. I move the couches to the window area and the table near the fireplace)
What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
I started some pumpkins using an old sweater that I didn't want anymore. I've made fabric pumpkins before, years ago actually, you can see them here. At the time, I followed two tutorials online, this one and this one. All I need to do with the sweater pumpkins is pop on the stems and that's it. I'll show you all later.
Looking around the house:::
I was at Walmart yesterday with the hubster. I went to pick up some stuffing for the pumpkins I'm making and then noticed that they had a ton of curtains on sale, dropped down from $18 to $7. I had my eye on some blackout curtains for a while, but I could never justify paying $18 for each panel, so I made do with what I had. But yesterday, I grabbed all 6 that were on sale because it's just what I wanted for my green living room. (that green will be painted probably beginning of next year). I will show you the curtains in a post later on today or tomorrow morning, but I LOVE them and how they look.I feel like after 5 years of living in this house, it is finally starting to look the way I want it too.
From the camera:::
Starting to pull out the fall decorations.
On my prayer list:::
* Still praying for my mother in law.* My husband has not yet heard anything about the position he applied for. Fingers crossed.
* Praying for myself, that my mouth not be so quick to judge and that I learn to practice kindness above all. (I am not a mean person, at all, but I do find that lately I'm quicker to anger or mistrust and I could blame everything and everyone under the sun, but the truth is that it is in me and starts with MY actions and thoughts, so it's something I must work on)
Bible verse, Devotional:::
I chose this bible verse specifically for what I mentioned above. * Before you add your link below, please stop to think if it is indeed related to the Happy Homemaker Monday post. I ask you to NOT add any links to different posts on your blogs, it is not fair to the participants to have to sort through links to try and reach the other HHM participants. Thank you!!!
Happy Monday to you! Hooray for new curtains, so exciting. Such a great verse you shared, one I have to often remind myself of as well. Bread lasagna? A combination of two of my favorite things, sounds so good. We're getting the hot weather back here as well. Hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThe bread lasagna came about as a need to use up stale bread, and really craving lasagna hahahah I've added the recipe to the food blog, if you want to go take a look. Have a great week!
DeleteNew curtains are always fun... they change a whole room in minutes. What a nice menu you will be having for the next 2 weeks.
ReplyDeleteYou made me think that I want to crochet some pumpkins for my Fall decor too.
The new curtains immediately changed my living room, I'm so glad I found them at Walmart. Hope you have a great week :)
DeleteSO sorry you're still having such horrendous heat! I hope the fall decorating helps you "think" cooler! I made some of those pumpkins a few years back with some chenille I died and look forward to pulling them out each year.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago I fell in love with room darkening curtains too - I sleep so much better when I'm using the to block out everything - you'll love them!
Your Portuguese menu has me drooling, sounds so delicious. Have a wonderful week my friend!
I love fabric pumpkins, they're such a great way to use up your stash but they make for the cutest little decorations too.
DeleteI had heard of the blackout curtains but hadn't yet tried them, I've hung them up and am SO glad I did lol
Have a wonderful week my friend :)
You can send some of the warm temps my way... we are in the 50's this morning. Yay for new curtains! I snagged a few from Penney's a few weeks back when they had them on sale for $7 from $29.... can't pass on a deal that great! Can't wait to see your pumpkins! I haven't tried my and at making them from sweaters yet! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteDEAL! Let's trade, I'll send you the heat, you send me your temps. lol
DeleteYou have to try the pumpkins made out of old sweaters, they are so quick and easy but turn out fantastic.
Have a wonderful week!
Happy Monday! I'm excited about When Hope Calls. It's on my to watch radar! ;)
ReplyDeleteI've watched the first episode and loved it. Really hope the series continues on. Have a great week.
DeleteI'm super jealous of your 73 degree mornings, it was 80 something this morning. I'm beyond done with this heat.
ReplyDeleteI've been in a redecorating mood lately too. Trying to work with what I have, moving things around and such. I want new curtains so bad but feel like I'm in a holding pattern, there are talks of moving in a couple years and I don't want to spend money on things that might not work in a new home.
Have a wonderful week.
Don't let the 73 degree mornings fool you, by noon we're well past 80s and then 100s. I hear you though, I am soooooo ready for cooler temps.
DeleteHave a wonderful week.
Hello dearest Sandra!
ReplyDeleteI'm sending you nice cool Fall thoughts from the northwoods. It's been so chilly here lately. I need to get my Fall decorations out too - hopefully in the next week or 2. You are the best bargain shopper! Can't wait to see how the curtains turnout. And your Portuguese food always sounds so good!!
Have a blessed week ahead π
Awww thank you my friend, I sure need those cool temps. Thank you so much, I do try to get bargains when I'm out shopping.
DeleteHope you have a blessed week.
xoxox
Great deal on the curtains! I'm going to check out this week's recipes - I think I mentioned that I am planning a Portuguese-themed dinner when Vic gets home. Praying for patience for Curt - the federal employment system takes so long.
ReplyDeleteOhhh a Portuguese-themed dinner sounds amazing. I have a lot of recipes on the blog, hope you find some you like. You are not wrong on the federal employment system, it always takes what feels like a year to hear anything back.
DeleteHope you're having a good week so far.
I hear you, Sandra! I'm done with the heat, too, and have decided to bring fall indoors! It may be a bit early, but I'm loving it and plan to enjoy a nice long season. I hope the outdoors cooperates! LOL! The Portuguese menus look delicious and I love the fabric pumpkins! Thanks for sharing the tutorials. Have a great week ahead, Sweet Lady! Continued prayers over your m-i-l and all the others. Blessings! <3
ReplyDeleteLet's fight this heat together, Rebecca hahaha I'm so sick of it. I've pulled out a lot of fall decorations and am determined to ignore the heat outside LOL
DeleteHave a blessed week my friend!
