{ Enjoying the day, all 80 degrees of it }
It's a gorgeous day here in Arizona, it's 80 degrees but cloudy which makes it amazing to be outside.
We set off around noon to run some errands and first ended up stopping in at Islands for lunch. Let me tell you, if not just for the cutest looking restaurant ever, you have to go for their Onion Rings. Lordy, I will NEVER eat onion rings anywhere else for as long as I live, those were the best I've ever had.
Islands is a cute little joint, it's all about surf and the tropics, from the colorful birds hanging from the ceiling, the greenery and the thatched roofs to the multiple tv's spread out with nothing but surf videos on.
The biggest BEST onion rings ever and the ranch dressing they serve them with? TO.DIE.FOR
Jasmine had the JR Wave with cheese
Nicholas had the Tiki Tenders and he's putting salt and pepper on his fries *snicker*
This was my Hula burger. Mushrooms and swiss cheese on a wheat bun...YUM!
And here is Curt's Hawaiian....teriyaki sauce and pineapple rings. He said it was really good.
On the way home, the kids had the windows open and were "apparently" fighting the wind LOL
Sadly enough, just about 2 minutes from home we have a water irrigation system or little aquaduct thing....there was a ton of cops cars and fire trucks as well as dive teams...and right on the edge already pulled from the water was a dead body. I don't think I'll ever get that vision off my mind, it was just so heartbreaking and horrible at the same time, and to think it's so close to home. I pray for the victim whoever he/she was.
Well I'm off to watch some more Catherine Cookson movies....loving them.
Oh a couple of you asked me again what camera I have. I have the Fujifilm Finepix S1000fd. Inexpensive and amazing, I am completely in love with this camera.
Anyway, enough babbling, have yourselves a wonderful Saturday evening and I'll be back tomorrow with more of my usual rambling I'm sure.
I could handle some 80 degree weather right now! And your post is making me hungry...
ReplyDeleteYou're making me hungry and jealous too! Jealous of the temps- it's cold and snowy here. The food looks so good!
ReplyDeleteSandra:
ReplyDeleteThe Islands sounds wonderful. I would not be crazy about 80 degrees as I am a cold weather or AC girl. The kids looks so sweet.
I am sorry about what you saw, how very sad.

How sad about the situation on your way home :( Seeing things like that is always hard.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Wow Arizona looks like it has some really cool stuff, especially this place. The onion rings looked really good, I love onion rings, and the Jr. Wave Jasmine was having looks yummy too. Hula burger? Who knew in Arizona.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of the islands but for sure next time I'm in Arizona (never been there) I'll have to check it out ! I love a good onion ring !
ReplyDeleteAnd I love what you're doing with your photography. So many new and different angles/perspectives ! Really neat.
How horrible to see that poor person pulled from the water. I hope that over time you are able to erase that image from your mind.
I've been wanting to try Island's food. I wish there was one closer to me. I may have to see what recipes are in my Top Secret Recipes 2 from there.
ReplyDeleteThat is an awful thing to see. I will be praying for you. and for the victim's family as well

Oh I love a good onion ring and those look absolutely awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love onion rings. That restaurant looks really cute.
ReplyDeleteI witnessed a similar situation when I was a kid. I do remember it well, but oddly enough I was never traumatized by it. It is very sad still.
I could go for 80 degrees right now!! It is a high of 32 today...heat wave. LOL! That resturant looks really great. We are coming out to Arizona next year for my Husband's graduation from college! We will be placing that resturant on our list of places to go to. Although in the first picture of the cup I thought it said Islam..LOL...I was thinking...Where in the world did they go to eat?! Your camera is a good one.
ReplyDeleteThat restaurant looks superb, and I will stick it on the list for when I show up in Arizona one day! I love onion rings too.
ReplyDeleteI was inspired after reading your post yesterday. I actually printed off all 102 pages of English instructions for my camera and tried out the macro thingy. I didn't have a clue where it was at first. My sister gave me this wonderful camera for Christmas, but the instructions were all in German, so I just sort of pointed it and took photos. Now, however, I am going to really play!
Have a lovely Sunday, Sandra!
I could definitely use some of that 80 degree weather right about now! And those onion rings and ranch dressing look yummy! Looks lije a good day!
