On my bedside table:
The Mighty Queens of Freeville. I'm doing a review on this book and then will give it away on the blog just like my last one.
On my TV:
Paranormal State
Lark Rise to Candleford Season 1
On the menu for tonight:
Brown Sugar Chicken
On my To Do List:
Mop and Sweep the floors
Iron and put away laundry
New Recipe I tried last week:
Didn't try any new ones last week but have a few for this week lined up!
In the craft basket:
Nothing, I'm in a funk, I have so much yarn and such a yearning to crochet or knit but haven't quite found the right pattern.
Looking forward to:
The seeds we planted starting to grow
Homemaking Tip for this week:
Never drain grease down the sink! It will clog up your sinks over time. If you forget and do it anyway, be sure to run some hot water with dish soap. Dawn is good for degreasing. If your sink does become clogged up pour 1/4 cup of baking soda down the drain followed by 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Wait few minutes and then pour a pot of boiling water down the drain.
Favorite Blog Post of the week (mine or other):
Thurday's Long Walk by Bovey Belle at Codlin's and Cream. I absolutely LOVE her blog and the trips she takes us on, I've learned so much about England through her eyes.
Favorite photo from last week:
Lesson learned the past few days:
That no matter how much I try, I can't always protect my children from the hardships and horrible things that surround us on a daily basis. On saturday afternoon we headed out to lunch and unfortunately were stopped at a light right next to the water canal just up the street. There were a lot of policemen and fire trucks, ambulances and divers around us and right there on the road, a body of a man who had been pulled from the canal. My children saw their first dead body and they were shocked to say the least. I only hope in time they forget the image that is STILL so vivid in my own mind.
On my Prayer List:
My husband
Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:
As he came near and saw the city, he wept over it, saying, "If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. (Luke 19:41-42 NRSV Bible)
What a fun photo. And I noticed your doin' the chicken! It was sooo good. Since there are only two of us I don't do much planning so I have no clue about the week. But I want to get started cooking on the weekend again. That worked so great for me.
ReplyDeleteI don't even know how to comment on your lesson. How horrible and how sad.
I will pray ya'll have a great week. Many Blessings my friend.
Hugs,
Sherry
That's such a cute photo! And I will have to try this "Brown Sugar Chicken".
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Thanks for hosting! The brown sugar chicken sounds really good.
ReplyDeleteI have to try the Brown Sugar Chicken. I think I have everything if lemon lime soda can become Mnt. Dew. I went back and read what I missed when I was sick. I admire you for reading for reviews. I am so inconsistent about reading so I could never do that.

Love the picture! Sure would like to know what was going through their minds at that exact moment! LOL! My first time doing Happy Homemakers Monday...hope I did it all right.
ReplyDeleteThe brown sugar chicken sounds delicious ! I love the picture of the children.
ReplyDeleteOT for today: Thank you for your blog. I reference it most days. I checked out Yada Yada Prayer Group late last week and I am already finished with it. I love it! I have suggested to my FB friends to read it. Thank you for making such a great suggestion. I know that I need to allow God's love for me to really reach me. Can't wait to read the second book. Maria
ReplyDeleteTo all your commenters: I tried the brown sugar chicken last week and it was really good. My husband has asked for us to have it on the menu again too.
ReplyDeleteI think your children will be okay with the bad situation. I know I told you I experienced something similar as a child and while I still remember it, the reaction of the other adults in my life made it not traumatic for me.
I'm sorry your kids had to experience that...those things can be good when we remember to talk through them and take time to pray for the family of those involved, and thank God for the rescuers. You are right, we can't shield our children from everything, but we can talk and walk through life with them.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to join in here in a bit. I do the simple womans daybook, but I like yours too because it provokes a bit more thought, though right now I'm stuffed up and can't think real clearly!
I love Nicholas' face in that picture- so cute!
ReplyDeleteCute picture. I'm going to try that chicken out sometime this week.
ReplyDeleteThis recipe is on my menu this week too. I hope they like it. Kae
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying this Monday feature Sandra ! Thanks for hosting it !!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy your Homemaker Monday. I really want to watch Larkrise to Candleford, but I need hubs to get a job!! Lol, it's nothing but man-telly on at the moment - Mega Trucks, Salvage Code Red, Mega Storms, Mega Builders, Destroyed in Seconds...anything with 'Mega' in the title or lots of explosions and danger and hubs watches it!!!
ReplyDeleteCodlins and Cream is a lovely blog, although I must add that she's writing about Wales, not England, Lol! :)
I hope to join in next week, if I leave a comment can you add my name to Mr Linky because for some reason it won't show up on my computer. I'll let you know next Monday if I get chance to do one! :)
Big Hugs.
