Life has been pretty much routine, I enjoy the quietness and the easiness during the day while the kids are at school and Curt is still sleeping.
I putter around, cleaning here and cleaning there, completely immersed in my life as a homemaker.
But the minute these two amazing little human beings get home from school, I sigh a breath of relief, because I've missed them so much when they're away. It's like I feel my life is complete again.
Over peanut butter and honey sandwiches and sips of apple juice, we talk about the day. What they did, what they learned, even what they ate for lunch. I'm super curious and I want to know everything and I'm glad they indulge me in their sweet and sometimes hilarious stories.
After a delicious dinner of Pasta e Faglioli and ice cream sundaes for dessert
I grabbed the camera and we headed out into the backyard. Just as the sun was starting to set showering everything in a orange/pinkish glow, I began snapping pictures as they played on the swing set.
Some of the best photos are obtained when you get down to their level and close up and personal. I love their expressions.
And so go my days at home, filled with love, filled with simplicity and filled with the normal day to day life. There's nothing out of the ordinary here folks, we have our ups and downs and we have our sick days and sad days and we have those days where everyone is cranky and the level of noise is high......there's chaos and craziness, but in the middle of it all there is an enormous amount of love in this family and for that I'm truly thankful and blessed.
Hey Sandra,
ReplyDeleteYou already know the simple things in life brings the most pleasure. You have captured those moments in your heart and in your pictures. Don't you love those moments right after school hearing about all that had been done during the day. My youngest and I start talking the minute he gets off the bus. I could drive to the bus stop but I would rather walk because the walk home is our time.
Those easy eclairs were wonderful and the kids have asked for them to me made often. I told the teens that while they were off on spring break next week they could make them. They need to start practicing once again on their cooking/baking skills their schedules have been busy most of the school year and now with a week off without any major plans it will be a good time to get a little practice in.
Take Care :)
They're growing waaayyy too fast. Does Jasmine have any idea how beautiful her hair is??
ReplyDeleteYou said it so well. The lovely life of being at home, even with all the ups and downs, is such a blessing! You have a wonderful family and that red hair of Jasmine is just gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post Sandra. You represent your days in words and photos so well ! It's like I'm right there with you all !!
ReplyDelete**hugs** Glad you all had a good day. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this post! It makes me smile and have that warm, cozy feeling!
ReplyDeleteA bright spot in my day as usual! The kids are too adorable (and yes, growing up too fast). Jasmine looks so much like her mom! Love the red hair/brown eyes combination, really special. Nicholas is adorable too! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI so much enjoy reading your blog. But a word of advise dear, treasure every moment of their desire to induldge you with what they are doing, they're come a time soon when it is not cool to fill mom in, oh how sad that is!!
ReplyDeletebeautiful post...what a blessing life can be when one sees the joy in each moment and situation!
ReplyDeleteSandra what a great post. I totally agree I love our family times together where we can watch Little One play and laugh together.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to hear other wives and moms talk about there day to day lives as such blessings! Thanks for constantly reminding me that what I do matters! :) Being a homemaker is my true calling and although at times it can get boring or mundane, I love it and couldn't imagine my life any other way. I hope you have many more simple, love-filled days! :)
ReplyDeleteGod Bless, Meg
Beautiful post! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post, Sandra!
ReplyDeleteI love those pics where you get right down to their level. It made me think of all my own pics from childhood. They were all so posed as was the way to do it way back then. These are so much more fun and capture the "real" kid IMHO.
Sounds like a wonderful day. I know you are enjoying every day with your kids. Keep it up - they grow so fast! Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteYour kids are so adorable Sandra..
ReplyDeleteSandra, this is a great post!
ReplyDeleteThis morning on my way in, I was listening to Dr Dobson who had on Dr Laura. Wow, was it good. It was titled Encouragement for Stay-at-Home Moms 1. http://feeds2.feedburner.com/FocusOnTheFamilyDailyBroadcast I think the clip was about 25 minutes. It speaks about being a SAHM and why that is just sooo important!
I often wonder what it would be like to be a SAHM. (OK, every day) I think over the next few years we'll work to position our family to allow me to convert back to home. Raising the kids is where I want to be, even though I need to be working to help get us the through the tough financial times.
My afternoons are spent with the kids, activities, cleaning, home making, etc, but I think the day time hours I'm needed at home too. I'm starting to feel that I can't build a home in the evening and weekends.
Anyway, rather than ramble, know that your posts touch my heart! Thanks for your honesty and caring nature.
~Allie
VERY sweet post! :) Isn't it a blessing to be a wife/mother/homemaker?
ReplyDeleteWhoa, that rigatoni looks fabulous! I have already printed it out!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to tell you, that the older I get, and, hopefully the closer to Jesus I get, I have really come to relax in this season... and really really LOVE being with my kids, taking care of my home...having fun with it, instead of struggling against it. I can say that I do really love being a stay at home momma.. and I am so blessed for this season!
Hugs to you, sweet Sandra!
Sandra, you have such a way about writing your blogs that I feel as if I have been part of your family all along. So welcoming, thanks
