New Period Dramas coming up

I just finished updating the Period Drama List for you all, had to add in a few goodies that will be coming out this year which I'm very excited for.

So the first one is The Hollow Crown, which is actually starting June 30th on BBC2 and oh boy am I dying for this one.

Adaptations of Shakespeare's History Plays, Richard II, Henry IV parts 1 & 2, and Henry V.

WHAT?!?!?!  No way!

Henry V
Henry V (Tom Hiddleston) takes England to war.
English confront French at Agincourt.

Henry IV Part 1
Rebels threaten Henry IV (Jeremy Irons) and his wayward son Prince Hal (Tom Hiddleston).

Henry IV Part 2
Rebels still plot against Henry IV. Falstaff (Simon Russell Beale) hopes for high office.

Richard II
King Richard (Ben Whishaw) faces rebellion led by Bolingbroke (Rory Kinnear).

Here's a trailer:

Labyrinth

Based on the book Labyrinth by Kate Mosse.

This four-hour Event miniseries is based on the multi-million selling novel by Kate Mosse. LABYRINTH is a dynamic contemporary action adventure set against the epic and historic landscape of southwest France. The novel, published in 2006, continues to be an international bestseller.

Anne of Green Gables

I'm not so sure what to think of this one.  It's supposed to be a modernized version.  Now while I'm a huge fan of Anne of Green Gables, I'm not quite sure that I am ok with it being made into a modern version.  Will it it do it justice, will it ruin it?

I'm thinking this is a wait and see for me.  It's set to be a 13 episode mini series, airing in Canada.

Les Miserables

Les Misérables is an upcoming British musical film produced by Working Title Films and distributed by Universal Pictures based on the musical of the same name, which is in turn based on an 1862 French novel by Victor Hugo.

Releasing December 14, 2012

 Ripper Street

Set in East London in 1889.  Coming to the BBC.  Crime series set in the aftermath of the Ripper Murders.  Starring Matthew MacFadyen.

And those are but a few, there are some really good movies and mini series coming to our screens this year :)

As always I will let you know when they are released and where you can watch them.
