So terribly tired

I haven't been around here much this week.  *sigh*

My husband is working 12 hour shifts, all week, including weekends and because I want to get up and fix him his coffee and his lunch, I am on his schedule and I have to tell you that I am exhausted....like beyond exhausted.

We get up at 4:30am and then don't get to bed until at least 10 or 10:30pm.

Worst part is that I can't fall asleep the minute I get into bed, it takes me at least an hour of tossing and turning before finally succumbing to the sleep....so in actuality I'm getting about 4 to 5 hours of sleep each night and I'm just not a happy camper.

I've mentioned the exhaustion right?

I find myself avoiding my couch during the day because if I sit on there for longer than 5 minutes, I am caught with my mouth wide open, fast asleep and drooling.  Not a pretty sight I'm sure, but more than that, if I try to nap during the day it gives me headaches and makes me super cranky.  So I don't.

But I'm tired folks, I mean I'm really.super.overwhelmingly.can't keep a straight thought.tired.

And I have so much I want to tell you, have some exciting albeit a little scary news for us.

But........I'm tired.  I will have to come back tomorrow maybe and tell you all about it, and if not then, maybe Sunday?  Whenever this crazy schedule ends?

It doesn't help that all leaves were cancelled, so our plans to head to beautiful Sedona today fell through the military cracks again.  Frustrating.

Anyway, I'm here, I'm still around, just wanted to let you all know the reason why there have been no daily posts.

Now I'm going to actually sit on the couch and not care if I fall asleep, cause hubby is home, dinner is done and everyone taken care of and if I fall asleep on the couch....oh well....who cares.

  5. Sandra 12 hours are killer! Until last month, thats what I have been doing for 7 years!!Four 12 hour shifts to alternate the next week with three 12 hour shifts....and 5 out of the last 7 years has been NIGHT SHIFT!!!If I got 5 hours of sleep a day, I was doing good. Not to mention, that I drove 30 minutes home & to work each shift AND NEVER could I leave on time (thats just how nursing goes)! So I spent 13-14 hours at work, (counting the drive) at least every day I worked.

Thank heavens your husband doesnt have to continue this routine...as you know..EVERYONE suffers! The spouse, the kids...so hang on old girl!

Take a nap, go back to bed after he leaves. It is better for you & the kids if you are refreshed...its better too, if your husband comes home to a wife thats not as dog tired as he is. Its not dishonoring to him if you do this.

You are a good woman Sandra...hang in there!

  7. You're so sweet to want to get up and make his coffee and lunch. I do that too and hubs is forever telling me I don't need to get up when he does during school holidays (when I don't have to work or get the kiddiwinks to school), but I like to do it.

Get yourself a little snooze if you can, you deserve it. - Sarah xx
