A cup of tea

“Keeping house is like stringing beads with no knot in the end of the thread.” - anon

I'm pooped.  Like, ready to get into bed kind of pooped but my day is still young and I still have quite a bit to accomplish before I can sink my head into the comfy pillow and snuggle under the covers.

Started my day at 5:30am, which is the usual, but somehow after a long weekend it's always harder to get out of the warmth, especially when the temperatures have finally caught up with the rest of the country and we're seeing 30 and 40 degrees.

I can't complain though because I do so love the cold weather :)

So I've been busy pottering around the house, laundry, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, bedrooms and bathrooms and all the other usual household tasks.

I'm now waiting for a load of towels to finish drying on the clothesline, and a load of clothes in the washer.  I figured it was the perfect time to sit down for a hot cup of tea, a little pick me up before I keep going.

I've only now sat down for the first time since I started housework at 7:30AM.....the time you may be wondering is 2:30PM.

I know, time just flies when you're busy and on the go all day.

While I wait for the laundry and enjoy my cup of tea, I've been blog hopping and checking email, paying bills etc.  I clearly don't know the meaning of resting for a few minutes do I?

But while on the internet, I came across this picture and I just loved it so much I thought I would save it and share it with you all.

It reminded me of this little book I have that I bought when we were visiting one of the History Pioneer Museums.  It's called The Prairie Traveler and it's such a treasure.  It was originally published in 1859 as a manual for west-bound pioneers and it covers all the areas that you would need to know to make a safe travel out west.

The wagon above reminded me of how in the book it teaches you how to pack and what to pack in the wagon.

Come to think of it, I think I may reread it again, it was such a fun and educational book.

I may just do a blog post about some of the things mentioned in the book, I am pretty sure you all would find it just as interesting as I.

Well my dear friends, my towels are now dry enough to remove from the clothesline, lest they be stiff and scratchy which I really dislike.  And there's a load needing to switch out from the washer to the line, plus dinner to get under way.

I best be on my way.

  5. You motivate me! I feel awful today and feel like being lazy, then I check in to your blog and now I'm about do fold laundry. Haha!

Also, how do you find all the pictures? Not just the one you used today but like the amazing pictures you were putting on facebook for a while. Like the vintage ones and the housewife photos you use on your blog from time to time. I love them all!

Isn't it funny how a cup of tea can relax you, and give you some energy to get through your day at the same time?

What I wouldn't give to have a clothes line. Maybe I'll work on figuring out where to put one with my husband in the next week or so.

Hope you're having a wonderful week.
