It is almost 9pm, and here I am, sitting on my bed with my embroidery around me and The Tudors on Netflix.
I have to get groceries tomorrow and I didn't have really anything to cook left in the freezer, so we ordered in some Pizza hut. You know I really have to be in the mood for pizza to have it, I'm not one who could eat pizza every day or very often.
We hadn't had Pizza Hut in a while though, so that is what we got.
Oh and I have to tell you about last night's dinner, I had said I was making meatloaf and mashed potatoes, but I went to pull out the ground beef and it smelled awful. I am so picky about meat though and if it smells at all a little off, I refuse to chance it.
I didn't want to have to go out and get something, so I made do with what we had on hand. Salami and cheese sandwiches and chili fries. You know sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, and my family actually enjoy these simple meals.
Anyway, back to today, since I didn't have to make dinner, it kind of freed up my night to do whatever I pleased, and so I chose to come hang out in my bedroom, just like old times. Me, my laptop. a good book, a cup of coffee and a craft of my choosing, which just so happened to be my embroidery.
I went by Walmart this morning and found the right colored floss to finish my one project. My husband also suggested I buy the pack with the 36 skeins in so that I don't run out again so soon. He is a smart man.
I find stitching so calming, there is something about the needle sliding in and out of the cloth and producing little stitches, that I love.
It didn't take very long for me to finish this one, I only 3 words left to complete it. I have to laugh though, I am so out of practice that my stitches are all kinds of sizes. HA!!!
No matter though, it still looks lovely. Tomorrow I will iron it and find a frame so that I may hang it up in my bedroom.
I am almost done with The Tudors, and then I guess I should find something else to watch.
I do have quite a few documentaries on YouTube lined up, so I am thinking that is the way to go. Speaking of which, I watched a very short one, like 20 minutes long, about Mary Tudor, or Bloody Mary as she became known. So fascinating.
Let me see, what else did I want to chat about?
Oh the Young Living Essential Oils review will be up this weekend. I know I said I would put it up today but there was a problem with the links and I am currently waiting to hear back from Marisa with the correct link so that I may direct you to the right place, in case you want to purchase some oils of your own.
So, grocery shopping tomorrow morning, followed by some housework and puttering around the rest of the day, but I'll be back to chat with you about it.
On this day in:
2006 - Tackle it Tuesday
2007 - The Little Annoying Things
2008 - Donuts and Burritos
2009 - It's so hard at times
2010 -
2011 - Happy Homemaker Monday
2012 - 30 Day Husband Encouragement Challenge

It's the little imperfect stitches that make it greAt (in my opinion). It's what makes it truly handmade. It is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteQuiet evenings are the best.
My daughter enjoyed watching the documentary, Secrets: Richard III Revealed on Netflix, it examines his life & also features coverage of when his gravesite was discovered in England a few years back. I've been meaning to watch it, but haven't yet. While the muscle spasms in my back have subsided, with only a little discomfort remaining, I'm experiencing pinched nerves in my legs and getting comfortable enough to pay attention to anything on tv isn't always easy. Have you ever watched All Creatures Great and Small? It's set in the late 1930s-40s in Yorkshire, England, about a veteranarian, it's one of my old faves.
ReplyDeleteI am the same way with meat. I'm sure my kids think I'm goofy, sniffing every bit of meat before I cook with it, but it is just not worth illness.
ReplyDeleteI think uneven stitches give your work character. If I wanted perfection, I'd buy something pre-made. I love the look of something hand made and I appreciate the time and love that went into making it.
Your evening sounds lovely. I was just poking around on your movie and book lists. I love that you put these together. Lots of great ideas for things I hadn't thought of for a while or hadn't heard of. Have a great weekend, Sandra!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice relaxing evening. I love your embroidery. Have a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love nights where everything goes according to plan and I can spend the evening in my bed with the MacBook, my reading and a cup of tea. For me when I have free time reading and writing relaxes me like nothing else!
