Two hearts. Twice as vulnerable.
Manhattan, 1850. Born out of wedlock to a wealthy socialite and a nameless immigrant, Cora Lee can mingle with the rich just as easily as she can slip unnoticed into the slums and graveyards of the city. As the only female resurrectionist in New York, she’s carved out a niche procuring bodies afflicted with the strangest of anomalies. Anatomists will pay exorbitant sums for such specimens—dissecting and displaying them for the eager public.
Cora’s specialty is not only profitable, it’s a means to keep a finger on the pulse of those searching for her. She’s the girl born with two hearts—a legend among grave robbers and anatomists—sought after as an endangered prize.
Now, as a series of murders unfolds closer and closer to Cora, she can no longer trust those she holds dear, including the young medical student she’s fallen for. Because someone has no intention of waiting for Cora to die a natural death.

My Thoughts:
I first became curious about the whole body snatching and resurrectionists during the 19th Century, while watching a documentary on TV. I honestly couldn't believe that this was even a thing, but as horrid and morbid as it sounds, if you look down deep you understand why this practice was important to anatomical research and understanding the human body.
The story kicks off with the birth of the main character, Cora Lee aka The Impossible Girl because she is born with 2 hearts. I know, sounds completely insane right?
Twenty years go by and Cora Lee is now one of the Resurrectionists, if you don't know what that is, the resurrectionists were usually people employed by anatomists to get them specimens (bodies) that would then be used for the dissection and study.
Cora Lee is the only Resurrectionist in New York and she's very good at what she does, and she specializes in getting bodies that have anomalies which bring in a bigger sum of money for her.
The problem is that suddenly murders start happening all around her, and whoever is behind these murders is not exactly waiting for people to pass away naturally but rather picking the victims out themselves. For Cora Lee it means she may be next on the list, after all, she has two hearts and people would pay big bucks to get their hands on her.
I so enjoyed this story, it had a mixture of everything, even a little romance.
