Happy Homemaker Monday #23

Hope you all had a fantastic Father's Day weekend.
Here we are, another Monday, another week ahead of us, so I'm hoping that this is a good one for you all as well, and for me of course :)

Grab your coffees and let's get started.

The weather:::
It's 7am and 87 degrees LOL  I couldn't make this up if I tried.  BLECH!

On my reading pile:::
::   Bible.
::   Love Finds you by Tricia Goyer.

On my TV:::
- Watching the sixth episode of  "Starlings".
- Eureka on tonight.

On the menu for this week:::
Monday -  Beef Pot Pies, Salad
Tuesday -  Waffles with Vanilla Custard
Wednesday - Baked Potato Bar
Thursday - Honey Mustard Chicken Fingers
Friday - Homemade Pizza
Saturday - Peter Pan's Pasta
Sunday - Breakfast for Dinner

On my to do list:::
Iron a load of laundry and put away
Some sewing
Crocheting

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
Finished my potholder and am really pleased with the result, though I won't be making another.  The switching of colors in the middle of the rows is a little too frustrating for me LOL  Need to block it again now that I've got it completely finished, I don't like the curling ends.

Homemaking Tips:::
So the summer fun category wasn't really working for me, it is kinda hard to try and find something to put in there, so I am switching it back to my old Homemaking Tips.  I think this one will be easier for us to fill in.  Just think about any cleaning, cooking tip, or whatever works for you to make things easier around the home :)

Here's my tip for today.  When I pack a lunch for my husband, I never pack the dressing with the salad because by the time he gets around to eating it, I don't want him to have nasty soggy lettuce.  What I do, is, I have a small empty spice jar that I have washed out really well.  I keep that one for his dressing, just fill it up, pop it in the tupperware with the rest of the lunch and he just pours it on when he's ready to eat :)  Problem solved.

Looking around the house:::
I actually have dishes in the sink from last night.  *GASP*
Shocking I know.  So first thing this morning, after I am done posting this, is to tackle those.
Kids are still asleep and the only sound I hear is the humming of the refrigerator behind me, the water in the fish tank in the living room and some snoring coming from some sleeping pugs on my couch.

From the camera:::
My favorite time of the day.  When everything is starting to slow down, when there is nothing but the glow of candles around the house.  It really does scream HOME to me :)

Day 19

Something fun to share:::
Are your kids bored already of summer?

Are already hearing the "I am bored, I don't know what to do, I'm BORED"?  Well, then you should probably come up with some fun stuff for them to do right?  That's where Skip to my Lou comes in.  She's been doing a Summer Crafts Camp for a few weeks and there are tons of cute activities and crafts for your kids to make and indulge in.  Go on over and take a look.

On my prayer list:::
My husband.
Lois's husband, as he is also away right now.
All the other soldiers who are currently away from home, praying for their safety and their fast return to their loved ones.
Actually praying for some rain, we need it.

Bible verse, Devotional:::
"But will God really dwell on earth with men? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!"
—2 Chronicles 6:18

I love that candle photo! Looks so cozy! We haven't even started our summer yet -- Friday is the last day of school, though. We're all looking forward to it :-)

I LOVE the potholder. You did a great job! I was thinking while looking at your foods that I should try and follow your menu plan but then I realized I am not a good cook so I will just follow in spirit. ;)
Hope you and the kids enjoy a wonderful day to follow your great night's sleep!

Love the picture! Although school is "done" for us...we still do a little through the summer. It really helps with the kids becoming bored.

Praying for you!!

We're having chicken pot pies! And that is way too hot for me at any time of day! Glad you were able to get a full night's sleep!

Sandra, I love your blog. It's so sincere and helps me put my life into perspective. I cannot image living without my husband for an extended period of time, and I pray for your strength often. My father-in-law was in the Navy and often had to leave my mother-in-law behind. Military wives are strong beyond all reason. Keep doing what you're doing!

With love from Chicago

I'm glad I read your blog before I sat down to do my menu for the week. Is it considered plagiarism if I just copy your menu?

Hi Sandra, your home looks like it is so welcoming and cozy, imagine what a paradise it will be to your husband when he gets home! Hang in there girl. Hope your week is off to a great start.

Love the candles! It's so hot here right now -- 94F even after sunset! -- that candles are just a memory for me. Anything that puts out heat right now, including my cats, sends me scurrying. But that candle photo reminds me that sometimes our mind needs things that the rest of our selves think we can't handle. I'll be lighting candles tonight, because they say HOME to me, too. Yes, I may have to kick the A/C into overdrive, but it's worth it to give my soul the peace it needs after a stressful day. Thank you for reminding me of that.

I took a note from you and mostly have the house lit with candles. I love your candle picture.

I'm with you and praying for rain.

Dang, you can have my weather. It was so cold, cloudy, and breezy today (53 this afternoon) that I had to shut all the doors and windows (except in the extra room, where it still needs to air out some from the ex-roomie--I just shut the door to that room so it will be warmer in the main house).

Two potential roommates have gone in other directions. I keep reminding myself that when God shuts one door he opens another. And last year it took TWO MONTHS to find a roommate; this year I've had 4 legitimate nibbles in less than 2 weeks.
