Show and Tell Friday!

The wonderful Kelli over at "There's no place like home" has started this friday feature, here's what she had to say:

Welcome to Show and Tell Friday!" Do you have a something special to share with us? It could be a trinket from grade school, a piece of jewelry, a new antique find, an old love letter. Use your imagination and dig through those old boxes in your closet if you have to! Feel free to share pictures and if there's a story behind your special something, that's even better!

So today I thought I would show you my husband's jet....his pride and joy, his F-16. My husband is a SSGT in the Air Force, a Crew Chief, a mechanic for these amazing machines. He works extremely hard, sometimes 14 hours a day, Saturdays and Sundays. It's not the first time that he's been called in to work in the middle of the night if one of the jets is broken and has to fly the next day.

It's a mighty powerful experience when you get to step this close near the airplanes, you can't help but be amazed at their power.

It's even better when you see your husband's name on the actual jet, right under the cockpit. The kids were so excited, they couldn't wait to tell everyone.

And sometimes they are rewarded for their hard work.....they get a Jet Ride. Boy was my husband ever excited about this, he was like a little kid in a candy store...a candy store with very big F-16's inside LOL

Here he is before take off

A view from the top....see there in the distance? That's another F-16 taking one of the other crew chiefs for their ride

It's just one of the wonderful perks of being in the military, this and so many other things are what we sacrifice for. And to watch the happiness on my husband's face as he works on HIS jet every day is worth it for me.

Very cool - I bet he was so thrilled to have his name on that jet! My husband and son are so much like him. Andy is so proud of "his" Apache helicopters!

What an awesome entry! It's great that you are so tuned in to your husband's career and his pride and joy.

I love the heading on your site - what charming English cottages. Have you been to England with the military? My parents used to fly out of RAF Mildenhall (Dad's retired from the US Army) - they retired in England but flew to the States to visit us whenever they got the chance.

Your Getting to Know Us entry is really cool - is it part of a group like The Simple Woman's Daybook or Show & Tell?

Have a great weekend!

Way cool! Your husband looks very proud. I bet your kids think he's the bomb! My husband would be jealous. He is fascinated by planes but gets sick even inside a flight stimulator :-)

Wow! This is fantastic. No wonder you and the kids are proud of him. How great the kids get to go for a ride (or fly).
I stopped by your other blog before coming here. The chicken looked so good. Love the header picture on that blog and this one too of course.

Oh my.....my heart flutters! I feel like saying "I have the need...the need for speed!" This is just awesome! Thanks for sharing....and yes, I can TOTALLY understand his love for his 'bird'!!! I'd be the same way.

Have a super Friday evening. I'm running a little behind in my visiting this afternoon since I've been scrubbing and cleaning all day. It's done...now I'm gonna crash in front of the TV a while. :o)

The photos are great. My father was in the air force and I remember visiting planes (but not as cool as your husband's! - I like his name on his plane).

My six year old LOVED all these pictures. He is a plane fanatic and draws planes all over the place. These pictures gave him addition inspiration. Thanks!!

Thanks for sharing a little more with us about your "Top Gun". I bet you both like that movie, by the way. Even though I am Canadian, I know our freedom is guarded by the U.S. and so a big thank you to your husband for helping to guard the freedom of the Western World. TOP GUN!!

My husband will be a crew chief at Carswell AFB here in TX. He is currently at Tech school in AZ. I can't wait till he gets home and starts working with these! He is so excited already and I bet if any of the pilots take him up, it would be an experience of a lifetime!!
