{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 03/29/2021 }

Good morning dear friends.  I hope this post finds you well.

I don't have a lot of time this morning to get this up, I overslept, for the first in about a year, I would say.  I think it is my body's way of telling me to slow down.  God is forcing me to stop, to rest and to work on replenishing my soul.

It's been hard, I'm not going to lie, but I'm working my way through the muddy water, trying to get back to my old self and to my usual blog posting.  I mentioned a while back that while I was doing my blog to book, I was sad that some years didn't have much of blogging, but were rather filled with just the Happy Homemaker Monday posts, and book reviews, and that was NOT what I wanted my blog to be.

Yet, here we are again.  It just is what it is for the moment.  Better that than nothing at all, that's what my husband tells me.

Anyway, good morning, I hope you all have a blessed week ahead, and let's get right on with our post.

♥♥The Weather♥♥
Hot weather, I think we are completely done with Winter.  Yay!

Friday - Partly cloudy, 68

♥♥How I am feeling this morning♥♥
I'm doing ok.  Slept well last night, and slept in, so that's always good.

 ♥♥On the breakfast plate♥♥
Cup of coffee with Peppermint mocha, and will probably just have toast.  My stomach is a bit off which always happens when I'm stressed.

♥♥On my reading pile♥♥
Almost done with Ezequiel in the Bible.
The Girl in the Painting by Tea Cooper

 ♥♥On my tv♥♥
Just random Youtube Videos when I have a spare moment, or when I'm cooking dinner etc.
I remember when I used to have a huge list under this category, kind of miss those days.  I need to see what is on TV that interests me, and maybe start catching up with some shows.

♥♥On the menu this week♥♥
I'm hoping to pick up my Weekly Meals videos again.  Hopefully soon, might try this week, and see how it goes.   I am working on the new meal plan this week, and will be grocery shopping on Friday, so don't have meals for that day or Saturday yet.

Monday - Butter Beef Roast, Basmati Rice, Roast Spaghetti Squash
Tuesday - Hamburger Helper, Salad
Wednesday - BBQ Chicken, Potato Salad
Thursday - Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans
Friday -
Saturday
Sunday - Brunch (Sausage Casserole, Bacon, Biscuits and Gravy)

♥♥Looking around the house♥♥
We had a really busy weekend, had to go to Oklahoma to deal with my mother in law's house, the one she left to Curt and his brother Chris.  It's a whole mess going on there.
Anyway, everything I needed to do in my own house, got pushed to the side, so I have a lot of cleaning to do today and this week.

♥♥To relax this week, I will♥♥
I have absolutely no clue, just going to take it one day at a time.

♥♥Something I want to share♥♥
Today's video is another from the Village Foods channel.  It is called Heavenly healthy tropical
 fruit.  Hope you enjoy ♥

♥♥Devotional, inspirational, prayer list or Bible verse♥♥

We are under such a tremendous spiritual war.  As Christians we need to be praying without ceasing, and we need to remember to put on the Armor of God, daily.  It really is imperative that we do this without fail.

I put on the armor every single day, twice a day matter of fact.  In the morning and then in the evening before bed.  I tend to see it as a normal armor, that when you're at war all day long, it is bound to have dents and kinks and will need repairs to sustain the attacks.  So at night, I replace it or repair it.  Just a reminder for us all.

{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 03/22/2021 }

Good morning everyone, hope you've had a blessed restful weekend, and that your past week was a good one as well.

I apologize for my absence from the blog lately, but a lot has been going on and I haven't been feeling very well mentally.  I mentioned our friends passing last week, but on top of that, Marley hasn't been feeling well.  It's just been draining emotionally in more ways than one.

I had all these plans to go back to blogging daily, taking photos, sharing recipes and my usual content, but just haven't felt able to.  I know many of you will understand and I thank you for still hanging around and showing up every Monday.  Thank you so much ♥

Anyway, I wish you all a blessed week ahead, and am equally hoping mine is blessed as well.

♥♥The Weather♥♥
Spring has arrived, and with it, the rain.  The temperatures have been a bit weird though, cold in the morning, and super hot in the afternoon.  It's all up and down.  We have some more rain this week but for the most part, temperatures will be in the 50s and 70s.

Monday - Rain, 60
Tuesday -  Sunny, 71
Wednesday - Cloudy, 63
Thursday -  Rainy, 61
Friday - Cloudy, 77

My daily devotional book.
The Girl in the Painting by Tea Cooper

 ♥♥On my tv♥♥
Nothing really, last week I didn't watch much of anything at all.
I HAVE however been wanting to watch a good period drama or series, and there is one on Amazon Prime that looks interesting.  It is called Anzac Girls.  I'll let you know if I watch it and if I liked it.

♥♥On the menu this week♥♥
Quite a few meals didn't get eaten the past two weeks, so I'm shifting those to the next two weeks meal plan.

Monday - Instant Pot Spaghetti, Garlic Bread, Salad
Tuesday - Steaks with pepper sauce, mashed potatoes, sauteed squash (still haven't made these)

It is quite dark even though it's 8 in the morning.  I have a ton of laundry that has been washed and folded, sitting on my couches in the den right now.  Just need to get it all put away sometime this morning.
Need to vacuum and dust as well.
I'm hoping to get a spring cleaning list ready to tackle the house.

♥♥To relax this week, I will♥♥
I am hoping to catch up on some reading, and maybe crocheting.

♥♥Something I want to share♥♥
Another beautiful video by ErmiChuiyan.  This one is called Radish.  Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

REVIEW:

This book couldn't have come at a better time, not just for me, but for my husband as well.

Last year we went through a 3 month desert, a horribly trying season that left both of us feeling vulnerable and unsure of our future.  Not only were we dealing with the affects of the pandemic (as so many of you were), but it was a separate issue that threw even more fuel into the fire.

We both turned even more to God, and together and individually started a spiritual journey that would lead us to where we are this day.

I started reading my Bible daily,  and my husband did too.  His journey led him to enrolling back in college to get his Master's Degree in Christian Ministry.  Wow!

As we both started reading more, we began really taking in the word of God, and became fascinated by the people in pages of the Bible.  Who were they really, where did they come from, how did they get to be featured in such an important book.

Who's Who in the Bible answers these questions and soooooo much more.

The book is divided into 5 Chapters, each one focusing on specific books of the Bible.

Chapter 1 From Genesis to Deuteronomy
Chapter 2 from Joshua to Kings
Chapter 3 from Chronicles to Maccabees
Chapter 4 The Four Gospels
Chapter 5 From Acts of the Apostles to Revelation

I'm currently reading through the book of Ezequiel, so that is the first one I looked up.  I really wanted to know more about this prophet.

Filled with information, brilliant illustrations as National Geographic is known for, and pages upon pages of interesting facts from the people in the Bible.

My husband has been able to use it for his studies, as he tackles theology and who is who in the Bible, this has come as a much needed companion for his classes.

And if all of this isn't enough, we are privy to a ton of interesting pages filled with artifacts and treasures that have been found dating back to those times.

We also have pages upon pages of maps of the areas, how they were in those days and how they are today.   Are you wondering about the Lineage of Abraham?  It's in there.

Do you sometimes wonder what all these famous places look like and wish you could travel there?  Well National Geographic have included photos of many of these important places.  It truly is like traveling to Israel without leaving the comfort of your home.

This book, is a must in any home library.  Not just for those who are reading the Bible, doing Bible studies or taking theology classes, but anyone who has ever wondered what the Bible is all about, who the people were, where did they come from and why were they included in these pages.

This beautiful book includes a running timeline on the bottom of every page, as you turn to the next you can continue following the dates and events that took place.  Brilliant!!!

5/5 for me.

Thank you to TLC Book Tours and National Geographic for providing me with a review copy.

{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 03/15/2021 }

Good morning everyone, welcome back to my little corner of blogland.

How was your weekend?  How was your week?

I apologize for not getting to your blogs and your HHM posts last week, but it was just not a good one for us.  We lost a few people we knew, it just seemed to have been one of those weeks where one of your friends passes, and then you find out someone else does, and within a few days someone else.

I am hoping and praying that this week is better.

♥♥The Weather♥♥
Last week I was hoping that Spring weather had arrived, and it certainly did.  We have had such beautiful warm days, and it is continuing throughout this week.  It also means the rains are arriving, and next month we head into Tornado season.  Not looking forward to that.

Tuesday -  84

Thursday -  64
Friday - 65

♥♥How I am feeling this morning♥♥
I am tired folks.  Insomnia is not a fun thing to go through, and these past few weeks, it has been rearing it's ugly head.
I was sleeping quite well last night, and woke up at 2:30 AM, that was it.  Couldn't fall asleep the rest of the night.  There is nothing like staring at the clock, seeing the minutes go by and not being able to go back to sleep.  I have a busy day today, lots of appointments and errands, which means, no chance of sitting down for a bit to rest.

 ♥♥On the breakfast plate♥♥
Just a cup of coffee, will have some toast later.

♥♥On my reading pile♥♥
Still working my way through Ezequiel in the Bible.
My daily devotional book.
Who's Who in the Bible (review book)

 ♥♥On my tv♥♥
Have fallen really behind on my Portuguese soaps, I am now two weeks behind, but oh well, I'll catch up eventually.
Nothing else on my list, I do catch a few homemaking vlogs here and there, or a random youtube video, but nothing I'm currently watching.

♥♥On the menu this week♥♥
Quite a few meals didn't get eaten the past two weeks, so I'm shifting those to the next two weeks meal plan.

Wednesday - Chicken enchiladas, cilantro lime rice
Thursday - Steaks with pepper sauce, garlic spaghetti, sauteed squash
Friday - *Grocery shopping*

Sunday - Leftovers

♥♥Looking around the house♥♥
This daylight savings always messed with me.  I was so used to getting up with the sun and it would be bright by this time of the day, but it is still pitch black outside.
I need to tidy up the house today, vacuum and carpet clean is also on the agenda.  I am just hoping I can get to it all between errands and appointments.

♥♥To relax this week, I will♥♥
I am just going to say nap.  I think that is what I will try and do to relax this week.

♥♥Something I want to share♥♥
I think by now you all know the channel The Fairyland Cottage.  She is one of my favorites and I love everything she shares, from her quiet life, to teaching us wonderful tips and tricks, and sharing the beautiful area she lives in.

Here is her newest video called The Joy of a Slow Life.

♥♥Devotional, inspirational, prayer list or Bible verse♥♥

My heart is just broken. I mentioned our friend Isa and her battle with cancer. She had been battling ovarian cancer for about a year now. About 2 or 3 weeks ago her doctors had told her she had but 2 to 3 months left. Unfortunately she went home to be with the Lord last week. Isabel left behind her parents, a sister and a brother, and her husband and two children, the oldest was only 15.  Heartbreaking!

A day after Isa's death, we found out an old friend of ours in Portugal passed away.  Just 5 days later, his brother passed as well.

Please pray for all these families, they need comfort and strength through this difficult grieving period.

{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 03/08/2021 }

Good morning sweet ladies, welcome back to my blog.

I haven't been blogging much this past week, it's been a bit busy and a lot going on around here.  This weekend has come and gone and both Curt and I feel like we haven't sat down and rested for more than 10 minutes.  With that in mind, we have declared that next weekend, we will be home, going nowhere and trying to get some much needed rest.

Wishing you all a very blessed week ahead!

♥♥The Weather♥♥
The Spring weather has arrived and we've been enjoying warm sunny days.

Monday - Windy with a mix of clouds and sun, 71
Tuesday -  Mostly cloudy and wind, 76
Wednesday - Partly cloudy and wind, 83
Thursday -  Partly cloudy, 82
Friday - Scattered Thunderstorms, 76
Saturday -  Thunderstorms, 64
Sunday -  Showers, 56

♥♥How I am feeling this morning♥♥
Both Curt and I are exhausted this morning.  At 1:30 am, Curt jumped out of bed because he had heard some weird noises.  He took off through the house to inspect it and make sure the kids were ok, and that everything was fine.  But, that woke us both up from a good sleep, which meant we weren't able to really fall back asleep for the rest of the night.
It's going to be one of those days, but that's ok, God is with us and we will get through it.

 ♥♥On the breakfast plate♥♥
I've had a cup of coffee, and here shortly will have some oatmeal.

♥♥On my reading pile♥♥
Still working my way through Ezequiel in the Bible.
My daily devotional book.
Have review books to read, just finished one and need to see what is next on the list.

Haven't had much time to watch tv last week.  I've fallen behind on my Portuguese Soaps, Bem Me Quer and Amor Amor.  Will try to catch up this week.

♥♥On the menu this week♥♥

Monday - Bifes de Cebolada, Mashed Potatoes, Salad (still haven't made these, they've been waiting for a couple weeks now)

Friday - Rotisserie Chicken, Ono's Hawaiian Macaroni Salad
Saturday - BBQ Burgers, Potato Salad
Sunday - Leftovers

I did a book review on Limitless, a few days ago.  I encourage you all to read it, it is amazing, and so inspiring.  Mallory Weggemann is such a strong brave woman.

♥♥Looking around the house♥♥
The sun is already up, the house is bathed in golden light and the back screen door is open, letting in a fresh breeze and the sound of birds chirping outside.  It's a beautiful Spring morning.

♥♥To relax this week, I will♥♥
Truthfully not sure if I will have time to relax at all, and I think if I do sit down, I may fall asleep.  So maybe some power naps are in the plan for this week ahead.

♥♥Something I want to share♥♥
Today I bring you a video from a channel I just found, last week.  It's right up my alley, and I am pretty sure you all will love it too.

It is called Sewing Through the Past and oh my goodness.  Just watch this first video and let me know what you think.

{ Limitless by Mallory Weggeman - TLC Book Tour }

Hardcover: 272 Pages
Publisher: Thomas Nelson (March 2, 2021)

The Paralympic gold-medalist, world champion swimmer, ESPY winner, and NBC Sports commentator uses her extraordinary story to equip others to meet whatever challenges they face in life.

On January 21, 2008, a routine medical procedure left Mallory Weggemann paralyzed from her waist down. Less than two years later, Mallory had broken eight world records, and by the 2012 Paralympic Games, she held fifteen world records and thirty-four American records. Two years later a devastating fall severely damaged her left arm, yet Mallory refused to give up. After two reconstructive surgeries and extended rehab, she won two golds and a silver at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships. And perhaps most significantly, she found confidence, independence, and persevering love as she walked down the aisle on her wedding day.

Mallory’s extraordinary resilience and uncompromising commitment to excellence are rooted in her resolve, perseverance, and sheer grit. In this remarkable new book, Mallory shares the lessons she learned by pushing past every obstacle, expectation, and limitation that stood in her way, including the need to:

  • redefine limitations;
  • remember that healing is not chronological;
  • be willing to fail;
  • and embrace your comeback.

Mallory’s story reminds us that whatever circumstances we face, we have the capacity to face down whatever challenges, labels, or difficulties confront us–and to do so on our own terms.

REVIEW:

Wow and wow again!!!

Mallory Weggemann is an inspiration and a true fighter, in every sense of the word.

I believe that God puts certain books, movies, thoughts and people in our lives, to teach us a lesson.  Sometimes it's something we can relate to and therefore gives us the strength we need to move on, knowing that someone else is in that same situation.  Other times, it is lessons that are not exactly directly related to what we are going through, but also teach us some important and extremely pivotal lessons in life.

It's funny how this book review came about, because lately God has been working on my heart, changing a lot of things within me that I didn't want to see or admit, and others that I've been asking for help changing.

One of those is learning to be content with where I am, and who I am, and also realizing that no matter how bleak I think things are around me, there is always someone out there going through a worse situation and still managing to do it with a smile on their face and grave in their hearts.

Right before I started reading Mallory's story, I had been complaining about the annoyance of my allergies and how debilitating they sometimes can be, how I was feeling unwell, and wah wah wah.

In that moment I had come across a Youtube video about a young man, 19 years old, that had lost both his legs and his right arm in an work related accident.  It was like a slap in my face, to knock it off and realize how easy I have it.

Then I started reading Limitless and that was a double whammy.

In 2008 Mallory Weggemann went in for a routine procedure.  In her senior year in high school, Mallory was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and shingles. The shingles resolved itself but she was left with searing pain in her nerves, a condition called postherpetic neuralgia.

She began a series of treatments which consisted of epidural injections to treat the nerve pain.  The first two went as planned, the third however came as a shock.  Mallory walked into the clinic, was administered the epidural and never regained feeling below her waist.  She would later find out she had sustained a T10 complete spinal cord injury.

And so begins her journey.  From fear, horror, and an overwhelming sense of helplessness, to taking back control over what she could change and realizing that she would not let this condition dictate her life, but rather that she would fight every single morning.

This isn't just a book about her overcoming her disability, but rather a lesson of faith, unshakeable faith and determination to push through and go above and beyond what they said she could and couldn't do.

Mallory had always been a swimmer, being in the water is where she felt the safest, and that dream, although set aside for a very short period of time while she dealt with the immediate changes to her body.....would become one of her most proud accomplishments in life.

She broke eight world records, held fifteen world records and thirty-four American records. And then came another blow, a fall severely damaged her left arm.  For some this may have been the last straw, but for Mallory it just meant another obstacle that she would push out of her way as she continued on her journey.

In 2019, she won two gold medals and a silver.

What Mallory has taught me through her story, is that we need to stop sweating the small stuff.

Life doesn't always go to plan, rarely does it actually, at least in my experience.  The things that I choose to focus on can determine my path and my happiness and joy.  The next time I complain about my nose being congested, my sinus acting up, the dishes piling on the sink, or the sleepless night I had,  I need to remember that there are so many out there who have had to face huge and I mean huge life changing situations.

And they've done it and continue doing it with a smile on their face, and thanks in their heart.

Mallory Weggemann is amazing and I'm sure that she is going to continue doing incredible things, despite her limitations.

{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 03/01/2021 }

NOTE:  Seems that Mister Linky is being a bit difficult to work with today, I am so sorry for that.  I have deleted it, and reinstalled it again.  Hopefully this fixes it, if not, please let me know and I will contact the support team to see what is going on.

ALSO:  I changed the blog template a few days ago, and I'm not sure if I like it.  (leaning more towards not liking it, so you will probably see a new template this week, sorry about that, it's hard to find the right template sometimes)

Good morning sweet friends, hope you've had a wonderful weekend.

Mine was good, we got quite a bit of yard work done, some fruit trees planted and the new garden area tilled and ready to go.  Actually, my husband did most of the work because it was so windy outside, and with my bad allergies, I can't be out there for long.   But, I helped as much as I could.

We have a full week ahead, more projects inside and outside the house.  Work, schooling and the usual day to day activities.

I wish you all a good and blessed week ahead!

♥♥Looking around the house♥♥
The sun is starting to rise much earlier, which is always a sign that Spring is around the corner.  Right now, the sun is streaming in through the windows and leaving the most beautiful golden light.

I need to tidy up the living room and dining room, we were in and out this weekend, and things just got left on the dining table, on the coffee table.  Couch pillows are thrown about, blankets are left in crumpled messes, and there are some glasses and mugs that need to be taken into the kitchen.

I also need to vacuum and re clean the carpet right by the back door.  We had a lot of fog this weekend and high humidity, which made everything outside wet.  Working in the garden, meant a lot of in and out, and that is rough on the carpets, no matter how well we clean our shoes on the mat or rug.

♥♥To relax this week, I will♥♥
Remember that crochet granny square blanket I started?  I wasn't feeling the color combo, so I ripped it all out a few days ago, and started again last night.  Hope this time I stick with it.  So that is what I'll be doing this week in my spare time.

♥♥Something I want to share♥♥
I have another really good channel to share with you all, this one is called Country Life Vlog, and follows a families village life.  It focuses mainly on the food they eat and the way they cook, which of course is a favorite for me, but I think you will all enjoy it too.

In today's video, they show us how they make their traditional Azerbaijani Baklava.

♥♥Devotional, inspirational, prayer list or Bible verse♥♥
Reading from my devotional today, for March 1st, it is called Eternal Perspective.  The verse is from Titus 3: 6-7, and I'm also including the prayer below.

Today's Prayer

I know Lord, this world is not my home;  I am only here for a short time.  You have given me the priceless gift of eternal life through Your Son Jesus.  Keep the promise of Heaven in my heart, and help me to pass through this world with joy, with perspective, with thanksgiving, and with praise on my lips for you.  Amen.
