{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 09/01/2025 }

Good morning friends, guess what?  It is the first of September, the beginning of the BER months, and I couldn't be happier.  Looking forward to the cozy, warm season and very glad to see the heat behind us.

Welcome, come on in and sit with me.  It is foggy this morning.  We've had some wonderful rainy weather the whole weekend, which I have of course, loved and embraced wholeheartedly.  We have more cooling temps on the way along with more rain and I am here for every minute of it.

So, let's get started with our homemaking post, on this very first day of September.

I hope you all have a wonderful blessed week.  ♥

The weather:::
Just look at those temperatures?  The perfect combination, warm but not unbearably hot, just the right weather to head into the Fall.

As I look outside my window:::
I have the back porch light on, as the sun has not yet started to rise.  From my spot on the couch, I see June bugs flying around (what are these guys still doing around here?).

Right now I am:::
Actually sitting in the living room, working on this post for you.  Everyone in the house is asleep still, except for Elliott and I.  I am typing this up and Ellie is sitting at the back screen door, just watching the bugs and enjoying the morning.  He loves these early mornings where he gets to enjoy the outside without actually being out there.

Something fun to share (a blog, a video, a tip):::
I love watching videos of days gone by, especially homemaking in the 1950s and 1960s.  Sometimes I think that I would love to have everyone dress the way they used to, instead of the sloppy mess we see walking around daily.  I just feel that people gave a lot more attention to their appearance and made an effort.  Wouldn't it be wonderful to see that kind of self love again?

Here is a video of a 1960s housewife.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Thinking and pondering:::
About my to do list for today.  I usually do a Sunday reset, but I have been so busy this weekend, that my reset will kick in today instead.  Here's what I hope to get done:

Change bed linens
Make my garlic paste
Clean fridge
Wash carpets
Pull out Fall decorations
Clean out back porch
Make tomato jam

On my bedside table:::
My book, tv remote and a bottle of water.

What I'm currently reading:::
Sara Donati's Into the Wilderness.

Just received a copy of the Book of Enoch, which I have wanted to read for years.  I understand that this book is not canonized, but I still find it interesting and from the first few pages I have read, I am already really and I mean REALLY loving it.

On my tv:::
YouTube (homemaking, books, crime, fall inspired)
Christian sermons, prophets, teachings.
Star Trek New Strange Worlds
September Reading Lists on Youtube

Listening to:::
At the moment, nothing but the birds chirping outside, the june bugs flying into the wall, and the roosters crowing ever so often.

On the menu for this week:::

Monday - Shrimp Tacos, Mexican Rice, Salad
Tuesday - Penne a la Vodka, Garlic Bread, Salad
Wednesday - Pork Schnitzel, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans
Thursday -  Chicken Casserole, Spaghetti Noodles, Broccoli
Friday -  Spicy Italian Crumble Pizza
Saturday - Sausage and Peppers Bake, Macaroni Salad
Sunday - BBQ Chicken Legs, Home Fries

On my to do list:::
I listed above what I need to do today, but let me paste it here as well:

Change bed linens
Make my garlic paste
Clean fridge
Wash carpets
Pull out Fall decorations
Clean out back porch
Make tomato jam
Daily Bible reading and daily decree
Daily 10k steps

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
The crochet projects continue.
Also making some DIY little pumpkins for my kitchen.

My simple pleasure:::
Watching videos about homemaking in the 1950s and 60s.

Looking around the house:::
Needs a good clean today, this weekend we were quite busy so I haven't had a chance to do my usual daily homemaking.

From the camera:::
One of my favorite bookmarks ♥

August 28, 2025

Bible verse, prayer, devotional:::
Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing. - Psalm 150

I ABSOLUTELY adore fall, it's my favorite time of year! And I LOVE the way the weather subtly changes into the cooler breezes at night and in the mornings just giving that HUGE hint of the change about to happen for the BER months. Our weather has been somewhat similar but our highs aren't arriving until mid afternoon and the lows being in the 50's is making it so glorious.

I 100% agree about the way people dressed then vs. now! I HATE it. It's just pure laziness if you ask me.

I too have begun my "reset" for the season and am enjoying every minute of it! Your book mark is just so darn cute!!!! Have a wonderful week my friend.

So lovely that you are enjoying simple home comforty things and I liked seeing your menu and to do list. We have a menu on the fridge and do our weekly shop from that, it makes life so much more organised and saves a lot of time. Betty
