{ Blogtober 2026 - Day 13 - New crochet hooks }

Ever since being diagnosed with osteoarthritis, I've had a hard time crocheting.  All my old hooks are uncomfortable, hurt my fingers, hurt my hands and after a while I have to set the project aside.

It's frustrating and disappointing, and I thought that I would be left with no recourse, when it comes to doing this hobby that I love.

I had heard over the years about how certain hooks help but hadn't yet gotten around to purchasing new hooks, mainly because I wasn't really crocheting as much the past two years.

Now that I have gotten back into it, I knew it was time.

While at Michael's this past weekend to pick up my yarn for the blanket I'm working on, I saw a hook from Loops & Threads which is actually the same yarn that I'm using.

It looks so comfy to use that I decided to grab it and just see.  Oh my goodness, what a change in crocheting, it was life changing, really.  I know that sounds super cheesy to say, but for me it truly was.

I wanted to get a few more, and I found this set at Amazon, not the same brand but it was only $7.00, Ergonomic soft grip, and shipped overnight.  I just got them and love them as much as the other hook.  I think the soft grip is definitely key when you suffer from arthritis.

I keep all my hooks in these two Cath Kidston pouches.  I used to have them all over the place and sometimes it was hard to find what I needed, now I know where they are at all times.

I also ordered these binder clips which I find very helpful when I'm working on a crochet pattern from a book.  It keeps the pages open and where I need them.  They were also really inexpensive at just $8 for 180, with different sizes.  Just perfect.
