Hi everyone, come on in and see what's in my daybook!

If you want to join in, just go visit Peggy over at The Simple Woman, read the guidelines here and then add your name to Mr Linky. There are so many other participants sharing their day, I'm sure you'll enjoy looking through them :)

FOR TODAY
Outside my Window...
a chill in the air....it's pretty nippy out there, goodness. The rain stopped but there's that scent in the air, that wet earth delicious scent which I just love.

I am thinking...
that it feels wonderful to have the whole house to myself, Curt is back at work, the kids are back at school and it's just me and the girls (pugs). It feels good!

From the learning rooms...
nothing this week

I am thankful for...
a New Year, a new opportunity to better myself, to close the gap between me and God. For me there's nothing better than knowing that I have 12 months ahead, still new and still waiting for me to make the most of them.

From the kitchen...
For breakfast toasted bagels with Whipped Berry Cream Cheese, Lunch for myself will probably be a Grilled Cheese and Tomato sandwich and dinner is Creamy Oven Chicken Breasts with Garlic Mashed Potatoes.

I am wearing...
Jeans and a pink tank top, slippers. The minute I walk in the door, my shoes go off and I slip into my comfy slippers, I just love it.

I am reading...
Just finished The Redbird Christmas by Fannie Flagg and loved it, it was such a wonderful Christmas book, full of love and family and second changes. I've started The Forbidden by Beverly Lewis and I have book #2 and book #3 also waiting to be read.

I am hoping...
to get a good cleaning on this house today. With everyone gone, I'll be tidying up the living room and putting away all the toys and games that have accumulated from the past week of having the whole family home. I'll be putting away laundry, scrubbing toilets, washing all the little rugs around the house, cleaning the bedrooms and sweeping and mopping all the floors. I'll be really busy for the next few hours but I can't wait to have my house back to normal.

I am creating...
a knitted shrug for myself and a knitted blanket too.

I am hearing...
the heater just coming on, my computer tv tuned to Sonoran Living and the pugs snoring on the couch.

Around the house...
Games, Toys, cluttered computer desks, laundry baskets waiting to be emptied and beds that need to be made.

One of my favorite things...
Sitting down to dinner with the family, talking about the day, laughing and joking and enjoying a home cooked delicious meal.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...
I have to make a run to the BX later today to pick up birthday cards for the family in South Africa who is celebrating this month and next. Other than that, absolutely nothing, just getting back into the groove of normal schedules after all the holidays.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Curtis snapped this photo of me and I just love it, because this is who I am, this is what you will most likely see every single day. Me.....puttering around the kitchen.

I am thinking...

From the learning rooms...
We learnt a LOT about castles, why they were built, how they were used, what castle life was like...the kids and I had a lot of fun looking through library books and then online for some more research.

I am thankful for...

I am hoping...
to get to the gas station, my poor Durango is almost out of gas and I need to make it there before I head out to do groceries. I really really dislike having to gas up the car, not just because of the prices but I don't know.....just really don't like it. Have I said I don't like it yet? LOL

I am creating...
a happy home for my family, curtains for the living room and some christmas projects.

I am hearing...
the landscaping people mowing the yards, an F-16 jet flying overhead and another doing an engine run off in the distance....my pictures on the wall are shaking.

Around the house...
it's pretty quiet right now, Nicholas is the only one up and he's having breakfast while playing a game on the Wii. Jasmine is still asleep and the lazy pugs are cuddled in with her.

One of my favorite things...
Looking through my refrigerator and cupboards right after I've finished putting away groceries, there's nothing like that seeing your house full of food.

A run to the post office to mail off the books for the giveaway and a package for Jasmine's best friend's birthday, tomorrow or wednesday a quick trip to the library.

FOR TODAY
Outside my Window...
is a beautiful September morning, there are a few clouds scattered across the sky and a significant drop in the heat, it feels SO good.

I am thinking...
how much I cherish the few hours a day I have to myself, to do devotionals, to read, to clean or to sew. It's a blessing but I do miss my children and count down the minutes until I pick them up from school.

From the learning rooms...
I don't have homeschooling children, so I thought that maybe I will just use this part to talk about anything that I'm learning for myself. Lately my interest has been on Castles and I'm devouring any books that contain history and photos of these beauties. The kids are enjoying them too, so I guess you could say we're all learning together.

I am thankful for...
cooler temperatures and the wonderful rain we've been getting

I am hearing...
the coffee pot brewing, the dryer finishing off my last load of laundry

Around the house...
it is chaotic as my children get ready for school, there's laughter, there's tons of questions about the location of shoes and favorite shirts.

One of my favorite things...
is to crawl into bed after the kids are asleep and either read my book or watch some tv with my beautiful pug Lola at my side

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...
both kids have their Open House Meet the Teacher nights, one on Tuesday and one on Friday

FOR TODAY

Outside my Window
...there are two hummingbirds enjoying the Honeysuckle, they're so close to my window that if I had to reach out I could touch them.

I am thinking...that I need to bake some bread today

I am thankful for...the rain we got last night, we've been needing it and it felt wonderful hearing the pitter patter on the roof and knowing that the plants were getting the water they needed.

From the kitchen...for breakfast we're having Cinnamon Roll Toast and Steak with Pepper Sauce for dinner

I am wearing... camouflage capri's and a black tank top, black flip flops

I am reading...The Barefoot Princess by Christina Dodd.

I am hoping...That my appointment with the OB/GYN on thursday goes well.

I am hearing... The dishwasher buzzing in the background and the coffee pot percolating.

Around the house... Toys scattered in the living room, remnants from the weekend with everyone at home.

One of my favorite things...onions and garlic frying in olive oil

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week... Doctors appointment on thursday

FOR TODAY

Outside my Window
...the base landscaping people are mowing the yards in the back. In the front, there are 2 hummingbirds fluttering around my Honeysuckle, right outside my kitchen window!

I am thinking...that hopefully Nicholas feels good in school, he and I have a small cold and he's not feeling 100% but I can't keep him home if he's not running a fever.

I am thankful for...being sick this weekend while hubby was home to help me, as a matter of fact he ordered me to bed on saturday and it felt so good to relax!

From the kitchen...Portuguese Steak with tomato and onion and these wonderful donuts which my children love.

I am creating...A clean home today, after dropping off the kids at school I'll come back and mop the floors and change the bed linens. I also have a basket of laundry to iron.

I am going... to miss the Robin Hood Series. I've loved watching the first two seasons, but now I have to wait until next year for Season 3. Bummer!

I am wearing...short pink satin robe and slippers.

I am reading...The Barefoot Princess by Christina Dodd.

I am hoping...To get everything done on my to do list

I am hearing... Nicholas sniffling in the background while he plays a little Wii before school, the lawn mowers outside, jets flying overhead

Around the house...Beds to be made, laundry to finish and the wonderful scent of fresh brewed coffee

One of my favorite things...that first sip of coffee in the morning, the one that makes you go "aahhh"

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week... Library on thursday, other than that, nothing at all

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...Jasmine's fairy house in our back yard
