I thrive in craziness, and running around and busyness.
It's become second nature to me, honestly, I can't sit still for very long without feeling like I should be up doing something, making something, fixing something, or cleaning or cooking.
Is this a homemaker thing? The constant need to be on the go?
I often laugh when I read or hear people dismiss the role of a homemaker as just a homemaker, you know like, "Oh she doesn't really do anything, she's just a homemaker". HA!
Obviously I can only speak for myself, but I have yet to have a day of doing not really anything, because there's always and I mean always something do to. At least in my house, matter of fact there's dishes to be done before they're even dirty because you know the minute you have everything washed and dried and put away, it's time to get them all out for another meal. Never ending, but in a good way.
It was a really busy day for me, again. Thankfully my sciatica didn't act out and my head/sinus thing was not too much of a bother.
Started early this morning with the menu plan, had about half of it written out but had to finish it and compile the grocery list so I could go shopping.
I find that I get a lot done in the early morning hours, right after my husband leaves for work and the children are still asleep. It's quiet, and I can think and plan and spend time with the Lord.
After dealing with some paperwork, I sat down and got in some hooky time, sitting by my back door with the sun starting to rise.
My blanket is coming along nicely. It's not big, it's going to be a lap blanket so it's faster to work up than if I was doing a big size one, which I would love to do but I need something I can pick up and quickly add some rows and get back to later.
With big projects I tend to get overwhelmed or lose interest fast and then they just sit there.
Ran some errands, got all the groceries done and back home before 11am.
My favorite time to get things done is early morning, I am not into big traffic and driving around during lunch time and rush hour. Actually, I may never have told you guys this but I really don't like driving and I hate highway driving the most hahahahah
While at the base commissary, I picked up two of my favorite chocolate bars, they remind me of my childhood in South Africa, especially the Crunchie which is my all time favorite. If you've never had one, and find one around, you should definitely give it a try. Yum!
Spent the rest of the day homeschooling, folding and putting away laundry and then make a quick supper of fried shrimp, pork egg rolls and a salad....with chicken dumplings for the girl who can't stand seafood. How is she my child? LOL
And just to show you what Jasmine's research paper is on. Sherlock Holmes. How fun.
Needless to say I think I'm more excited than she is hahaha
You can bet that I'll be reading these two books from cover to cover :)
Alright, now I need to get going, the new season of Face Off starts in just 6 minutes and we love watching this show as a family.
Have a wonderful night everyone, and thank you for stopping by :)

I use Google Calendar for my meal planning. I designate it's own color. I plan my meals 2 weeks in advance. If I don't end up cooking that meal, I click and drag it to another day. Plus, you can share your meal plans with your friends. I love it!
I was just saying this yesterday! Yesterday, I was so busy trying to call apartments, figure out college stuff, and take care of a baby. I was so exhausted by the end of the day, but thought to myself that I am not "technically" working. So silly.
Taking care of home and family is hard work. It's the work that gives us and our families joy and comfort in having our own haven to rest and be revitalized in before heading back out into the world.
Love the photo of you and your little lap blanket is sweet.
Have a lovely day ~ FlowerLady
I too am a morning person, I can get more done by 10:00AM than I can do in the rest of the day. Lovely new lap quilt you arew working on!
I often wonder how women work outside of the home. I find that there is always something to be done. Some days I don't even feel like there are enough hours in the day to get it all done.
Have a great day!
i love mornings....
have a beautiful day Sandra...
Yum,the crunchie was my childhood favourite as well.
I would love to hear more of your childhood in South Africa. The history fascinates me. Did you live there after the end of Apartheid or had you already left?? Do you miss living there? Sorry to ask so many questions, it just truly interests me.
I have always believed that being a homemaker is much harder than working outside the home because one has to deal with overcoming this perceived notion that homemakers are priviledged women who eat bonbons and watch soaps all day. That couldn't be further from the truth.
I absolutely LOVE the lap blanket. I'm trying to learn to crochet. I have a book, and today I think I'll watch the video. For some reason the pictures in the book get me twisted around. I'm more of a hands on person.
You are right Homemakers have a ton of stuff to do. Especially if you have children in the house. I keep myself busy though, always looking for a craft or project. I really don't remember how I survived when I was working and a single mom.
I'm just like you, project after project and always busy. I have a HUGE respect for homemakers everywhere - it's a 24/7 job and the one job that has brought me more satisfaction than any other. Caring for my family is a top priority.
Crunchies are my favourite too! Too bad they are easily accessible over here, I've had a few too many just today. They were the little 'fun size' ones so that's my justification. That...and a trip to the gym!! They are awesome smashed up in vanilla icecream too.
