Every year, I read a ton of books. Most that are sent to me to review, and then when possible I threw in a few from my bookshelf.
I've never really sat down and made a list of books that I want to read for the year, like a challenge, and I do see a lot of bloggers and even youtubers doing this, so I thought that this year I would join in and set aside a stack that I want to get through in 2021.
I'm not going to put any pressure on myself to finish them, because it's hard to know for sure what the year ahead holds, and if I'll have the time to read as much as I want to.
But, I'm going to try very hard to stick to my list. I do hope at the end of the year I can come back and say that I actually did it.
I only have one review book on the way, don't have any others planned yet, so I don't have to those to show you yet, but I'll definitely share them once they're in.
I originally picked 12 books, one a month. I read way more than that, but like I said above, I would rather give myself a sensible reading challenge than overdo it and then feel like I failed. But once I set those aside, I realized that I also had non fiction (Christian) books that I wanted to include. So my goal is to read one fiction and one non fiction each month.
Ready to see my picks?

- The Favored Queen by Carolly Erickson
- The Unfaithful Queen by Carolly Erickson
- My Lord John by Georgette Heyer
- Four Perfect Pebbles by Lila Perl
- The Widow of the South by Robert Hicks

- The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette by Carolly Erickson
- In my hands by Irene Gut Opdyke
- I have lived a thousand years by Livia Bitton-Jackson
- Anne Frank The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
♥ Non Fiction and Christian List ♥
Technically I only have 11 books on this list, but that is because one of them includes a bible study, so I'm just counting it as two separate books.
- A Lineage of Grace by Francine Rivers
- Sons of Encouragement by Francine Rivers
- The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace
- The Lazarus Awakening (Bible study) by Joanna Weaver
- 90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper
- Heaven by Joni Eareckson Tada
- A chronological tour through the Bible by Ron Rhodes
- Because of Bethlehem by Max Lucado
- Because of Bethlehem by Max Lucado (Bible Study)
- A Prairie Girl's Faith: The Spiritual Legacy of Laura Ingalls Wilder by Stephen W. Hines
- October Song by Beverly Lewis
- The Harbinger by Jonathan Cahn
As I mentioned above, I will also have review books sprinkled between these, and will do a future post on those.
I don't have a specific order to read them, I will probably just grab whatever I am feeling at the moment, and go for it. I think this will give me about 2 weeks for each book, so two weeks for the fiction and two weeks for the non fiction.
There may be months that I read more, there may be months that I may not be able to read both and just one, it all depends on the review books that come in.
Hope you've enjoyed looking through my book challenge for 2021. Do you have a book list to read from as well?

I don't set a specific list as I am majorly a mood reader. I enjoyed seeing your list :)

I always enjoy seeing book lists. Some years I make lists but lately I've just put things on my "want to read" list on Good Reads. I've read 90 Minutes in Heaven, it's excellent and I think you'll like it. Happy reading!
I have a long list in Goodreads, and I keep adding to it! I'm starting off my year with the book that just came in at the library, The Alice Network by Kate Quinn, and my Christmas books, Snobs by Julian Fellowes, Debbie Macomber's latest Christmas novel, Jingle All the Way, and the final book in the series that began with the Red River of the North books, A Blessing to Cherish by Lauraine Snelling. I'm going to do a monthly blog post on what I've read for the month.
I love seeing everyone's reading challenges and lists. You have a lot of varied books here. I was working my way through A lineage of Grace last year. I gave myself time with those because I wanted to go through the study questions at the end of each story with a thoughtful pace so that they really impacted me. My reading challenge is finally up now too. Happy reading this year!
