{ Saturday Photo Meme }

Do you remember back when blogging first kicked off, there would be so many memes going around, and tags?  I was constantly tagged by blogger friends for all sorts of different posts, and it was a fun way to get to know all the amazing bloggers that made up this wonderful community.

But, like everything else, times have changed and some of the things we loved have disappeared and often been replaced by tacky things, or things that leave me scratching my head.  We have a choice, either move on with the times and the flow and become just another voice repeating the same thing, or continue doing what we love and be individuals.

I must say, I have always been the odd one out.  If everyone in the world is screaming and shouting about bananas, I am in my corner giving credit to strawberries.  I don't like to follow a crowd, I don't like the whole herd mentality, I'm just not cut out that way.  So, with that said, I intend to continue posting and talking about the things that I love, and memes is one of the things from the old blogging days, that I miss.

So here's an oldie, and I would tag some of you but I'm not sure if you'll join in or not, so I'll leave it open and if you want to do it, just copy the categories and do your own post, but be sure to let me know if you so that I can come and read it.

How does it work?  Well, you go to Google Images and type in the category and then paste the photo that shows up for it.  That's it!

{ Things you may not know about me }

Back in the beginning of my blogging journey, I remember that one way we got to know each other better, was through all sorts of memes and tags.

It wasn't something all bloggers liked or even enjoyed and it did get to a point, where many times we would have to tell each other not to tag us or give us awards because it became so overwhelming.

But like I said above, that was in the beginning, I can say that it has been years since I've done any kind of tag or post where you get to learn a little more about me.

So here we go, I hope you enjoy this fun little post and maybe learn a little more about me, I may even surprise you with some things that you didn't know about me.

Never mentioned it online - Controversy, Venting and Curiosities

Well, let's see.....I mean for the most part I'm an open book and I tend to share and sometimes overshare (something I'm learning to not do).  I don't really think there is anything that I have never told anyone, but come to think of it, I don't think many people know that I smoked or rather, dabbled in smoking when I was about 18.  My greatgrandmother actually caught me in the bathroom and I about died LOL  I gave it up right then and there and never again picked up a cigarette.   To be perfectly honest, I smoked for a few weeks at most, so can't really count myself a smoker.

I have to sleep with a small pillow that I prop under my right arm.  It started as a way to help with the pain in my shoulder but even though my shoulder is not as painful as it used to be, it's a habit that just stuck and I can't....I mean really CAN'T sleep without it.

I think the only fear I really have is that of either dying and leaving my husband and children behind, or my husband dying or one of my kids.

Clingy dresses.  You know those type of dresses with that fabric that just clings to your curves and shows every little dimple and cellulite?  I can't handle those and will not wear anything like that, which is hard because it seems that all the cute summer dresses are made that way.

Oh boy!!!  When I'm PMsing, I can't stop eating and I crave, I mean CRAVEEEE chocolate.  I could go through chocolate bars like nobody's business.  It's like I can't get enough food, am constantly hungry and never satisfied.

Our finances and budget.  It's not that I don't think he can do it, but I am so methodical and have been doing it since we got married, so I have a method to my madness *so to speak*.  When he does it, it just confuses me and nothing seems right, it's frustrating to watch hahahah

Oh without a doubt, it's driving.  I never drive when we're all going somewhere, I make him drive all the time.  I just don't enjoy driving at all and only do so because I have to, so that's definitely the one thing I hate doing that I love when Curt does.

Yarn and books!!!  Although I still hold back on the yarn a bit but books are my downfall.  I have so many on my shelves that I still haven't read, and I receive books quite frequently to review, but if I'm at a bookstore I still have to bring home one.  What can I say, I love books!

Everything!!!  Curt gets frustrated at me sometimes because he wants me to spend money on myself or get something at the store, and I just won't do it.  I always say do I want it or do I need it, and if it's not a need or something we need to replace for the house, I will leave it behind and say "we can get it another time, I don't need it right now".

Marry my husband and have his children.  There are many things I could consider as being some of the best things I've done in my life, but I think by far, the top has to be my husband and children.

Cleaning the bathrooms.  I loathe cleaning bathrooms and I have to really force myself to get in there and do it.  I think it's the one chore in the house that if I could pay someone to do, I would.  But I'm a cheapskate remember?  LOL

Two faced and use people or only contact them when they need something.  It drives me insane.  I know we all have our faults and we're all human and make mistakes etc., but it really grates on my nerves when someone only contacts me if they need something, or when they act one way to my face and another behind my back.  Lying, disrespect is another that really bothers me.

That was quite fun to do, and I hope you all enjoyed learning a little bit more about me.  If any of you choose to do this tag, let me know, I would love to read yours and get to know you a little better :)

Tag, you're it!

It's been forever since I've done a meme, I don't even remember the last time, maybe a year, two?  Really that long?

Anyway, my wonderful bloggy friend Susanne at Living to Tell the Story, tagged me with this fun 8 questions meme, she asks me 8 questions, I answer them and then I tag 8 people and ask them 8 new questions.  Got that?  Did I confuse you?

So here we go, these are Susanne's questions:

1. What is your greatest joy?
Without a doubt, it has to be my children.  Now I know you're probably sitting there laughing or thinking "like we didn't know that was coming" LOL  But really, it's my babies, they have brought me the most joy in my life and I feel so blessed to have them.

2. What do you do when you're bored?
Well now, there is no such thing as bored in my vocabulary, I don't have time to be bored, but when the occasion does present itself once in a while, I read, or cook, or watch a movie.

3. Are you a sweet or salty snacker?
Both, which is just not good at all for my thighs, but I am actually one of those snackers that can never figure out what she's in the mood for, so I end up eating whatever I find, sweet, salty, doesn't matter.  I like it all.

4. Beach or mountains?
Wow that's a tough one.  I would say both, but if I absolutely had to pick one, I would say a log cabin in the mountains, surrounded by beautiful trees and a stream nearby.  Perfect for me!

5. Favorite things on a burger.
Bread and Butter pickles, Provolone cheese, mushrooms, fried onions.  Oy I could go on forever.

6. Would you rather have someone else do your laundry, clean your house or do your yardwork?
All of the above.  LOL  But if I have to just pick one, then my yard work.

7. Are you a one book at a time person or have many on the go at once?
I have tons at once, I think I actually have a book in every room of the house and read as I go, I am not one to get confused between the books I'm reading, so I've been known to read as many as 4 books at the same time.

8. Favorite scripture or quote.

“But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:15

And now I get to tag 8 of you....and please don't run away the minute you see your name pop up.  LOL

If you don't want to do it, that's fine.  If you haven't been tagged and still want to play along, that's great too, just let me know in the comments so I can come see it :)

Mari, Mary, Nicole, The Lady, Conny, Autumn, Jayleigh, Lori

Here are my 8 questions:

1.  What is your biggest pet peeve?
2.  If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
3.  Have you ever been searched by the cops? (LOL inquiring minds want to know)
4.  What is the one thing on your mind right now?
5.  Favorite song right now.
6.  What talent do you wish you had?
7.  Favorite drink.
8.  In one word, how would you describe yourself.

Tag you're it!

http://www.tagyoureitonline.com/images/graphics/tag_logo.jpg

It's been a while since I've done a meme, for the most part I do appreciate all the awards but then I don't get to pass them on, I feel horrible having to pick just 5 or 3 or whatever.

BUT, this one looks like too much fun to pass up.

***********************************

Yesterday Mari who knows how much I love living in My Little Corner of the World came over to tell me about tagging me, I had to smile because sometimes we really do feel like 2 Peas in a Pod.

I'm surprised she even tagged me because we all know that at times I'm 3 Sides of Crazy if I haven't had A Good Cup of Coffee.

But I accepted the challenge, I mean it's just Another Bend in the Road for this Frugal Domestic Goddess who at times lives Life in the Z Lane and somehow ends up Living to Tell the Story but I'm having so much fun doing this tag that I may as well be living Michelle's Family Life even though My Heart is Always Home and I'm always taking it One Day at a Time only sitting back and sometimes watching my Reflections in the Window and thinking about how one day I will be sitting in my porch watching those reflections change to Rocking Chair Reflections.

See it's all in the Simple Beauty of things that make up The Joy of my Heart, so please come on over to this Raggedy Girl's Place and chat with this Frugally Old Fashioned Homemaker.

**********************************

This is a new way of tagging people. If you see yourself in the story, consider yourself tagged, but only if you want to participate. If you decide to join, you need to write a story that includes as many blog names as possible. Thank you again Mari for tagging me :)
This was so much fun.

Christmas Spirit!

My sweet bloggy friend Susanne over at "Living to Tell the Story" tagged me for this meme/award combo. Thank you Susanne :)

5 Things I Love About Christmas

1. Christmas Tree - There is something magical about the tree when it's lit up, especially at night. I absolutely love turning all the lights off and leaving just the tree with it's pretty wrapped presents underneath and allowing it to illuminate the whole living room. It's not the first time that I've been caught laying underneath the tree, just staring up into the twinkling lights.

2. Christmas Baking - The hours spent in the kitchen on Christmas Eve are my favorite. It brings back so many wonderful memories from my childhood. After breakfast on Christmas Eve, the family members would start arriving at my dad's house and the kitchen would be buzzing with moms and grandmas cooking up amazing meals and yummy treats. The whole day was a mixture of excitement, last minute gift wrapping and the scent of delicious meals wafting throughout the house.

3. Christmas Snow - One of the things I miss the most from Idaho are the wonderful holiday snow storms, standing in the kitchen with a cup of hot coffee in my hand and looking out the window as the snow falls and Christmas music plays in the background.

4. Christmas Movies - Sitting down in front of the tv with my husband and children, cuddled in blankets and with bowls of popcorn on our laps while sipping on hot cocoa. The old movies, the new ones, anything Christmas, especially the ones on the Hallmark Channel and Lifetime. Love it.

5. Christmas Mail - Is there anything better than getting beautiful cards from friends and family? The whole month of December I literally wait in anticipation for the mailman to come, then run to the mailbox as fast as I can. I love displaying the cards near the Christmas Tree and knowing that somewhere near or far, another friend or family member is thinking of us.

I'm passing this Spirit of Christmas Award/Meme Combo to the following wonderful ladies who have made blogging such a joy to me.

Mari - My Little Corner of the World
Amy - The Joy of my Heart
Eden - The Khaje Khronicles
Sarah - Another Bend in the Road
Cheri - Just Another Day in Paradise
Roberta Anne - Little House in the Desert
Sherry - The Journey Back
Renee - 2 Peas in a Pod
Tamy - 3 Sides of Crazy
Elizabeth - Turtle Cottage
