{ Blogtober 2019 - Day 14 - Pumpkins for carving }

Blogtober 2019 - Day 14 - Pumpkins for carving

Hi everyone, welcome back to the Blogtober.

Yes, I missed two days this weekend, due to some internet issues, but I'm back, thankfully.

Curt and I had to run a few errands today and while out, we picked up 4 pumpkins for us to carve.  It's been years since we've carved pumpkins, as the kids have gotten older, it's not exactly something they wanted to do anymore, but the past year or so they've shown interest in doing it again.

I think it's something we all go through.  As we start growing up we no longer look forward to things we pertain to be for little kids.  Then as years start going by you suddenly begin missing all those things that made your childhood such a wonderful one, and then once again want to go back to traditions and customs.

Think that is where my kids are at, so we are carving pumpkins this year.

Of course they also want to do it because they want me to roast pumpkin seeds, they're not fools are they?

And now just to show you, not pumpkins but the sewing project I've started on.

And also not a pumpkin, but this adorable blanket our daughter bought for us, it's perfect for this time of year.

{ Blogtober 2019 - Day 11 - Golden Light

October 11, 2019 - Golden Light

Hey everyone, happy Friday!

I am so glad the weekend is upon us, my allergies have been so bad the past two weeks which has meant not so good sleep.  I'll be happy to know that I can sleep in and not worry about the alarm going off so early.

Anyway, here we are, day 11 of October.

For today's prompt, I thought I would focus on the beautiful golden light that Fall mornings seem to bring us.  Hope you enjoy :)

{ Blogtober 2019 - Day 10 - Fall Look Back through the blog }

October 10, 2019 -Fall Look Back through the blog

Hi everyone :)

It is October 10th, so we are well on our way to being halfway through this month.  Insane!!

I do have to say that I'm excited for Thanksgiving, it is always something to look forward to.  All the family gathered together, the yummy food and then of course the preparations for Christmas.  It's a little strange thinking that we are already coming up to the end of the year.

But let's not get stuck on that and rather focus on the season we are in at the moment.

I wasn't sure what to post today, because I didn't have time to take any photos or do anything fun or interesting enough to share.  It was a busy day of driving back and forth and schooling with the boy.

I wasn't about to let a day slide though since I've been doing so well with the daily posting, so, I decided that I would take a look through previous years, going back all the way to the first year I started this blog, in 2006.

It might be fun to take a quick peek back and see how I've celebrated Fall through the years.  I'm going to show you a photo from the post along with a few lines of the beginning text, but I'm linking the actual blog entry for you all so if you're interested you can go back and take a look.

Let me tell you right now, if you don't like pumpkins, I suggest you move along because I'm surrounded by them, literally.

Yesterday we finally made it to the Pumpkin Patch, remember we had wanted to a while ago but they were closed and then hubby was gone for a while, so we figured we better get on out there with Halloween being only 2 days away.

I know you're probably laughing, I tend to change my template a lot around here, I think having the advantage of knowing how to do it tends to make me mess with it whenever the mood strikes me.

I do like this one for Fall, the colors, the changing leaves, the pumpkins, just makes me want to grab the family and head for the nearest Pumpkin patch. I remember when we went last year, still back in Idaho, what a blast we had.

Right Now, I am:

feeling... tired but content with a spotless house

enjoying... the sound of birds chirping outside and no other sound to distract me

wondering... whether I can wait for my new McLeod's Daughter DVD or just watch it online

listening... to Casting Crowns on the computer

Hi there, come on in and sit with me for a few minutes, I promise I won't take up too much of your time, I am kind of in a hurry because in 15 minutes the Ghost Adventures Live show begins.....7 hours long. Yippee!

But feel free to grab a donut, I just made those and they are DELISH.

From a stomach virus to busy homeschooling to housework and other stuff, I've had my hands full around here.

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen.....

October 21, 2012

Had such a good, quiet Sunday, that I really hope that you all had one too.

My day started with me sleeping in, well, if you can call it that, but then again 7:30am is sleeping in for me.  HA!

I really do live in one of the most beautiful States in the US.

Idaho is gorgeous!

White Pumpkin

I am loving the mornings around here, just beautiful. We've been having the cooler temps but also quite a bit of rain, I'm just hoping it doesn't rain tomorrow night or we'll have very disappointed kids.

October 30, 2015

Goodness gracious, the rain is just pouring down here in Texas, not just where I am, but pretty much all over the State, and we've even had some tornadoes down in San Antonio, floods in Austin and Dallas.....just a total mess.

Marley

Well ladies, I want you to say hello to the newest member of our household.

This is Marley!!!

After losing Lola almost 3 months ago, my heart has been so sore and so sad.  For the longest time I told my husband and kids, that I didn't think I would ever be able to have another pet.  I was certain of it, I wanted nothing to do with it.

October 12, 2017

Good morning friends.  It's a beautiful Friday morning here in North Texas.

I am on my second of coffee, because I just need it today.  I slept pretty well but woke up feeling so incredibly tired still, I'm pretty certain it's a mixture of being sick with a cold, allergies and being a woman (you know what I mean *wink*).  My husband tells me I got triple damage this week LOL

The leaves have yet to turn color.  I spend a lot of time looking out the window, from all areas of the house, just trying to catch that first glimpse that makes the bold statement that Fall is definitely here.

{ Blogtober 2019 - Day 9 - In the Kitchen }

October 9, 2019 - In the Kitchen

Hi everyone, welcome back to my little corner.

As the temperatures have started dropping, I find myself spending hours in my kitchen.

The kitchen has always been my favorite room of the house, actually from a very young age.  It is where I've spent most of my life, first as a tiny toddler at my great grandmother's feet, then as a teenager around the kitchen table drinking tea, eating biscuits (cookies) and chatting with both my great grandmother and grandmother, and then as a newly married mom, making meals for my loves.

So it's always been a place I've found to be a safe haven, a peaceful corner of the home.

It is also where everyone gathers, holidays, dinners, we tend to end up sitting in the kitchen chatting.

But when Fall and Winter come around, I find that I spend even more time in there.  There are foods and certain things that I mainly make when the temperatures have cooled down.

Yesterday, I spent the day pottering around, I prepped meals, made pickled beets and some more tomato jam.

The hours went by, I listened to soft music, fully immersed in the hum drum of the chores before me, and blocked out the stresses and worries that daily life seems to bring upon us.  While I'm the kitchen, I often think about my great grandmother, the type of woman she was and just how much I miss her.

There are certain tastes, certain smells, and certain moments that are intricately connected with her memory.  What I wouldn't give to have her beside me, to share another cup of tea, a biscuit and a chat.  I miss my grandmas and my great grandmother and especially those moments that we often take for granted, knowing full well that one day they will be over, but never quite thinking the time is coming anytime soon.

So while I continue my journey here on earth, they continue theirs in Heaven.  We will see each other again one day, but for the moment, I revel in every minute I'm in the kitchen and try to keep their memories alive in the things that I do, the food that I make and the love that I have for my home and family.

After all, I learned from the best!

{ Blogtober 2019 - Day 8 - Favorite Vlogtober Channels on Youtube }

October 8, 2019 - Favorite Vlogtober Channels on Youtube

Good afternoon everyone, hope you're having a wonderful Tuesday.

We woke up to 45 degree weather and for the first time in months, I had to put on my robe before venturing into the kitchen for coffee.

The air conditioner has now been turned off for 2 days in a row and I am thrilled, it means a much lower electric bill.  Thank goodness!

Today I thought I would come in and share with you my favorite Vlogtober Channels on Youtube.

Many of these channels I've been following for years, and though they don't post as much or as often as other more popular channels, they are gorgeous and filled with the prettiest of content.  I'll start by saying that a lot of them are knitting, crocheting and crafting channels, mainly from the UK.

They all participate in Vlogmas too which is a vlog every day in the month of December, and they usually share their advent calendars which are enough to leave anyone drooling.  Just think yarns, crafting, beautiful projects and lovely women with the sweetest of personalities.

Anyway, enough babbling about it, let me go ahead and share them with you.  Hope you come to love them as much as I do.

A Homespun House
Molly is such a sweet lady.  When I first started following her, she lived in Germany.  Her husband is German and they have two adorable little girls.  They have since moved to the States.  Molly dyes her own yarn and sells it online, her website is under the same name as the Youtube channel A Homespun House.  She doesn't post as often as some of the other channels, and she also doesn't participate in Vlogtober,  but I thought she deserved to be mentioned here.

Old World Home
I don't watch Hilary as much as other channels, but I do always tune in for Vlogtober and her Vlogmas.  She is a mother of 3 little ones and is busy renovating her current home to a more Old World Decor.

Tales from Cuckoo Land
One of my favorite channels.  Gaina is incredibly talented and takes us along on her daily life, through school runs, her life in beautiful England, and her many knitted projects.

Ollie and Bella
Another of my favorites.  I love all these crafty channels, these ladies are so incredibly talented and put out the most gorgeous videos.

The Last Homely House East of the Sea
Newer channel to me, but I've looked through her videos and she has a ton of different tutorials, a lot of sewing videos and such.  I can't wait to watch it all and try some of her tutorials.  She is such a sweet soul and I love having a little look into her home in the North of England.

SewraymeUK
Rachel has some of the prettiest videos around, and I love that she takes us along on her makes.  In one of her latest videos, she made a quilting pouch.  I am inspired to grab my fabric and move right on to make one myself.  She doesn't only quilt, she knits and crochets and shares a bit of her life in the UK.

Inspired by Nikki
I have only just found this channel, and am quite curious to take a look.  I found Nikki purely by accident, it was recommended on Youtube under the Vlogtober vlogs.  I took a quick look at her channel and liked what I saw.  Nikki is the quintessential Christian woman.  She has a beautiful soul and her mission on Youtube is to inspire other Christian women.  I love the way she dresses, the way she loves her home and the way she inspires other Christian women to be.

Nordic Stitches
Oh my word, I love her and her vlogs.  Lilli lives in Norway, she designs knitwear pieces and works with some of the prettiest yarn.  Her vlogs are gorgeous all the way around, from the setting she lives in, her home, her projects, just the way she films.  Love her, and she does some of the best Vlogmas videos during Christmas too.

Sew Sweet Violet
Another favorite, but unfortunately she doesn't post as much or as often as I would like.  She does however always join in Vlogmas and does some of the prettiest vlogs too.

Elderflower Stitches
Very new to me channel, but she has the most stunning knitting and sewing projects.

Little Drops of Wonderful
Another wonderful crafty, knitting vlogger.

I hope you are able to find a new favorite among the list.  These type of channels may not be for everyone, but I love all things to do with yarn and being creative and so I quite enjoy listening to and watching these ladies.
