I have always been a creative person, and I thank God for that gift. It's a gift I have been very aware of since I was a child. I was never content just sitting around being bored, I got creative, I got imaginative and as I grew, those ideas formed in my hands and started showing up around my home.
I don't think there is a certain hobby or creative outlet that I prefer over the other. If I can make it, I will, and if I've never tried it before, I'll jump right in to give it a go.
For a while, probably around the last 2 or so years, I have been seeing this adorable pumpkin fairy houses showing up. It's always been something I wanted to try, and last year, I purchased a foam craft pumpkin just for that purpose, but ended up not getting around to it.
Last week, I finally decided to go for it, to get creative, to gather around the house whatever I could use to make my vision come true, and what came out of it was the sweetest, most adorable little pumpkin house that just brings a huge smile to my face.
I envision a little fairy living within it, fluttering around here and there. Seeing that it's my first ever little house, there are things I need to make better and to fix, but I've learned as I created this one and can't wait to make another. Matter of fact I have a small orange foam pumpkin that I will be adding to this collection.
I'm thinking, a whole little pumpkin fairy village for Autumn. So cute!
Covered the top of the pumpkin with moss, wood chips and a tiny pinecone. I would love to add little mushrooms on top too, I may still do that.
For the little area beneath the pumpkin, I took some giant popsicle sticks and glued them together to create a sort of deck which I then covered in moss and pebbles, giving it a little walkway, and a surrounding pebble fence, so to speak.
I created the ladder out of twigs that I snapped into the right size, I also used twigs to create the frame for the windows. Added a little shovel and some cute red rain boots and that was it.
Very primitive and basic door. I used what I had on hand, which were some popsicle sticks that I actually broke into the size I needed. I thought about making it all perfect, but then I thought, if I was a fairy living in a forest and wanted to make my home, would I really have everything perfectly cut?
Or would I use what I could find and make it work?
I covered the top of the pumpkin with moss and took it down around the windows too. My plan is to put small little strips of lace inside, to make it look like sweet curtains.
Next I used pebbles I had to frame the door, because I felt that it looked a bit bare and needed something more. I love how it turned out.
I cut out a circle on the bottom of the pumpkin to be able to push in some little battery powered led lights, which makes it look like it is lit up from the inside. You should see it at night, the most adorable little fairy house in the corner of my bedroom.
I wondered if I would share this with you all, and at first I thought probably not, but I wanted to share it to encourage you to get creative
