Happy Homemaker Monday - 05/27/2024

Good morning and a very happy Memorial Day to you all.

I hope you've been enjoying your long weekend.  We had a barbecue with family yesterday, which was wonderful.  Today we are just planning on resting and preparing for the week ahead.

Curt took off most of last week for his birthday, and we spent it working on our back patio and back yard.  We have all these plans, but we move according to God's timing and will, as well as our finances.  It's great to plan but you need to have the money to invest, so we cling onto our dreams and plans, and fulfill them albeit in a slower pace, but they come true nonetheless.

I do have to step out to Petsmart this morning for turtle food, we ran out last night and I didn't even realize we didn't have another on hand.  So, my plans of relaxing for the day will have to wait just a little while I run these morning errands.

Tomorrow I have my yearly mammogram, which is always so nerve wrecking, but I'm praying on it, mainly praying for God to calm my heart, to take away the worry, the fear, the anxiety.  We all know that fear does not come from God, and so our job is to rebuke it, right?

Anyway, let's get right on with our post and then move on with our day.  I hope you all have a blessed week, my friends.  Thank you for always coming by and letting me know you're still reading my blog.  I appreciate it more than you know ♥

Sandra

*** Right now I am ***
I WAS sitting on the back patio working on this post, but there is an insufferable fly that won't leave me alone, and I retreated back inside.  It's fly season, so annoying.  Sometimes I wonder why God created flies lol

*** Thinking and pondering ***
Just mentally preparing for the mammogram.  I wish it didn't bother me at all, and I could just walk in there, do it, wait for the results and not think about it at all.  Honestly, that is what I pray for the most, to be able to go with the flow, to trust in God's words and plans, and not let it affect me.  Work in progress, for sure.

*** How I am feeling ***
I'm feeling pretty good.  Still going strong on the health journey, and Curt has joined me as well and has also lost 30 pounds.  He just turned 51, and I'm turning 50 and I truly believe, if you haven't until now started taking care of your health, this is the age to really focus on it.

*** Devotional, Prayers, Bible Verses ***
The apostle Peter warned us: “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” He tempts us in various ways and uses discouragement in suffering and persecution to try to draw us away from our faith in Jesus.

This is exactly what I was referring to at the beginning of the post.  Fear, worry, anxiety, suffering, it is all done by the enemy to draw us away from God.  When we focus on what is happening around us or a specific situation, we get so consumed with it, that we pull away from God.  We don't have time or the mindset to think about our faith, to think about reading the Bible or drawing closer to Him.

This is what we fight through every single day, as Christians it is our daily struggle.  It's also when we need to pray harder and press in deeper.

Happy Homemaker Monday - 05/20/2024

Good morning sweet ladies, welcome back to the blog.  I feel a bit weird even saying that, considering the fact that my poor blog has been so neglected, but try as a I may to get back into the rhythm of posting consistently, I just seem to fail no matter what.  Anyway, it is what it is, at least for now.

It is Monday morning, another start to a week, it is also my husband's birthday week.  He is turning 51 on Wednesday.

This week I hope to get a bit more gardening done.  We've been slowly working on our back patio, creating a patio garden, adding some flowers and plants and just trying to make it a wonderful, comfy place to hang out during the summer.  I can't wait to get out there and enjoy a cup of coffee.
I do hope to take photos and post about it.  Fingers crossed I actually go through with it.

Anyway, let's get on with our post.  I wish you all a very blessed week!

Sandra

Happy Homemaker Monday - 05/13/2024

Good morning sweet ladies, and a very happy Mother's Day to you all.  I sure hope you had a blessed Mother's Day.  Mine was wonderful, spent with my kiddos both human and furry Hahah

I am actually typing up this post a little late today, I forgot to plug in my laptop last night (something I do every.night), and woke up to a dead laptop.  Had to plug it in and wait for it to charge before I could come and sit down.  Some days right?

Anyway, let's get on with our post that is already running a bit late.  Have a blessed week ladies!

Sandra

*** Thinking and pondering ***
I was a bit bad this weekend, especially yesterday, I had two slices of pizza and a lemon bar.  But in my defense I am good every other day and have been for months.  I do tend to be a bit hard on myself and feel guilty for doing it, so I'm trying to remember that it's a one day thing, and that we just go right back to watching what we eat, and it's fine.

We really can be our biggest critics, can't we?

*** How I am feeling ***
Honestly?  Gross.....carbs don't do well with me anymore and I'm feeling it.

*** Looking around the house ***
With all the rain my poor carpets need constant cleaning, which is also not good for them.  I've been spot cleaning as I go, but today I really need to get the carpet cleaner going.

The house right now is quite dark for this time of the day, because it's cloudy and we're expecting storms.

*** To do list ***
Cleaning the house

Bible and Devotional time
Reading time
Crochet time
Workout

*** From the camera ***
My sweet girl got me some really cute gifts for Mother's Day, among them the cutest coffee mug that says Crazy Chicken Lady with a ton of cute chickens on.  I did use it already this morning and it's in the sink, so will take a photo another time to show you.  But, something else she gave me is something I've been wanting for a long time.  A Turkish Tea glass and saucer set, the teapot and the Turkish Tea.  I am so excited to try it this afternoon.

Happy Homemaker Monday - 05/06/2024

Good morning everyone, welcome back.  How was your weekend?

Can you believe that we are already in May?  This year is flying by.  Well it is Monday, it is hot, and we are once again looking at some severe storms.  I have never seen so many strong storms, and so many tornadoes in our area.  Please keep the entire Tornado alley in your prayers as we head into more severe weather.

Stay safe friends, please and make sure you're covering yourselves and your homes with the blood of Jesus.

Anyway, let's get on with our post for today.  Have a blessed week ladies!

Sandra

About this weather, again like I said I don't want to be scared, but it's been very unnerving and scary.  .

*** How I am feeling ***
I'm doing very well, aside from this weather stuff, I'm doing good.

*** On the menu ***
Will start working on the new meal plan, which as always, will kick in on Thursday.  Also, just keep in mind these are the meals I make for dinners, but I am doing low carb, so many times, I have just the meat or fish, and the salad, and not the rice, pasta or potatoes.

Wednesday
Bacon Spaghetti, Garlic Bread (I will probably have something else, since I am avoiding carbs)

*** What I am wearing ***
Summer nightgown.  Might throw on a summer dress or some shorts, not sure.

*** On my reading pile ***
Done with Exodus, now debating which book to read next in the Bible.  I am kind of pulling towards Revelation.  It is a difficult one to get through, but it's also important to read.  Which book are you reading through in the Bible right now?

*** On my TV this week ***
This one hasn't changed much at all, but it's what I'm watching so leaving it as is, for now.

Youtube - Brazilian and Portuguese Homemaking Vlogs, Slow Living and Quiet Vlogs
Turkish shows - Ruzgarli Tepe, Gelin, Kara Agac Destani, Sen Anlat Karadeniz

*** Looking around the house ***

*** To do list ***
Cleaning the house
Bible and Devotional time
Reading time
Crochet time
Workout
Start working on meal plan and grocery list

*** From the camera ***
This time of the year, we are flooded with butterflies.  Small ones, big ones, yellow, white, black and orange.  I just love sitting outside and watching them fly around, sometimes coming right up to me as if to say hello.

I snapped this photo in my front yard, this is a female Black Swallowtail.  How magnificent are they?  God's creations are something beyond words.

*** What I am crocheting or sewing ***
Still slowly working on the crochet blanket.  I did get some new crochet hooks yesterday, my daughter got them as an early mother's day present, and I'm so excited to try them.  Will take a photo and show you tomorrow.

*** Devotional, Prayers, Bible Verses ***
I pray that the Lord covers everyone in the path of these storms, with the blood of Jesus.  We have been given authority and power over the everything, and we are to use that authority when something is a threat to our well being.

So with that in mind, I cancel and rebuke all storms, in the name of Jesus Christ.  They will NOT come anywhere near our homes and our properties, our animals, our families.  I draw a bloodline around the areas in the forecast and call upon God's army to protect anyone in the path.  Amen and Amen!!!
