Happy Homemaker Monday - 05/05/2025

Good morning everyone, I'm sorry this is going up a little later than usual, just been busy this morning and haven't had a chance to come in and stop for a bit.

This weekend seems to have gone so quick, like I blinked and it was Monday morning.  My goodness!

Anyway, welcome to everyone, welcome to the month of May, which is going to be a bit busy for me as well, but I'm hoping it slows down soon and I can really start enjoying the warmer months.

I hope you are all doing well.  My apologies for not visiting your posts from last weeks Happy Homemaker Monday, I will be doing my rounds later today though.

Now, without further delaying it, let's get going.

I wish you all a wonderful, blessed week.

The weather in my neck of the woods:::
Crazy rainy weather.  All of last week we had rain, horrible storms with high winds, and tornado warnings.  I'm not ready for this time of year, that's for sure, but I do welcome a good rain shower.

Monday - Rain, 67
Tuesday - Thunderstorms, 63
Wednesday - Cloudy, 70
Thursday - Partly cloudy, 74
Friday - Partly cloudy, 74
Saturday - Mostly sunny, 78
Sunday - Sunny, 80

As I look outside my window:::
It is overcast.  I love sunny days but I also love gloomy ones.

Right now I am:::
Sitting on my bed with a blanket over my legs, it's a little chilly, or I'm just chilly I don't know.

Something fun to share (a blog, a video, a tip):::
Another favorite YouTube channel for me is Memory Seekers.  If you've never watched them but love history and seeing and exploring new places, then give them a try.

Here's a look at what it was like living in Britain from 1820s to 1950s.

Thinking and pondering:::
About influencers and the over consumption that they seem to try and push on people.  It's bothered me for a while but lately it's really been playing on my mind.

I see far too many people worried that they are not buying or using the products being pushed through Instagram and TikTok, or that their homes are not good enough, the food they eat is not good enough, they don't take vacations constantly like everyone else.  It drives people into depression and it's so sad to see.  I really dislike it.

On my bedside table:::
My phone, my empty cup of coffee, lotion and my current read.

On my tv:::
Homemaking vlogs
Book vlogs
Last week I watched a couple of Period Dramas and fell in love with them all over again.  On Netflix I watched The Leopard.
I also watched Beecham House and Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light and loved both.
Today I will be starting Shardlake.

Listening to:::
Nothing.  TV is off, the only sound is Kaia breathing heavily while sleeping on the bed, and the random chirp from one of the baby chicks in the office.

On the menu for this week:::
Will be starting the new meal plan later this week, so don't have many meals.

Monday - Korean BBQ meatballs, Basmati Rice, Steamed Broccoli
Tuesday - Bacon Carbonara, Garlic Bread, Salad
Wednesday
Thursday -
Friday
Saturday
Sunday

On my to do list:::
Change Bed linens
Water plants
Daily Bible reading and daily decree
Daily 10k steps

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
Currently enjoying a Star Blanket.

My simple pleasure:::
Puzzles.  Sitting near my big living room window, drinking tea and working on a puzzle.

Looking around the house:::
It is quite dark for this time of the morning.  I have the back door open to let in the fresh breeze, and the front door is also open with only the glass door locked, so letting in lots of light.

I need to do the usual tidying, but the kitchen is clean, the dishes are done and I've taken out the meat for dinner which is currently in the sink thawing.

From the camera:::
Running a home takes effort.  Yes we can get by on doing the bare minimum, but I find that long term that usually means more work for myself.  So, I like to take each Sunday or Monday to get things ready for the week.

Below, I had washed all my lettuce, and let it dry out completely, then pack it in a big tupperware, beween paper towels.  It helps make salad making much easier, it is washed and ready to go, and when you let them dry completely, they stay fresh and crispy.

Bible verse, Devotional:::
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. - 1 John 4:4

Have a safe tornado season. The weather has been absolutely CRAZY everywhere!

As soon as I'm done with this comment I'm going back to that video of BEAMISH - what a wonderful quaint idea.

As for 'influencers" I think they are horrible! It was one thing to keep up with the "Joneses' in the past, but today it seems like they try and shame and guilt people into doing things and buying things they NEVER would have even thought of doing or needing! As grams would have said, influencers are here to do the devil's handiwork.

Have a blessed, but rainy, non-tornado week my friend.

I agree with the influencers... we can see past them but some people just can't - it is NOT ok. Stay safe from tornados.

The weather here is crazy too. We have had so much rain, and it seems to just keep coming. I do not look forward to tornado season either.

Getting the blog listed very late! I've not been feeling the greatest today. I agree with getting things set up for the week ahead! I didn't get a whole lot done but I did get eggs boiled, some lunches made, and my strawberries and grapes prepped. I need to get back into period pieces too! It's been quite awhile and I miss them! Have a lovely week ahead :)

I should take up doing puzzles again! I've got one lying out, half finished and I haven't been able to fine the time and peace of mind to finish it...

Gezellige blog weer en ik ben het helemaal met je eens wat de influencers betreft. Ik houd ook van puzzelden, vooral crytogrammen en sudoku's.
Hsppy new week Sandra! Sorry I'm a bit late. I agree that our society is such a consumer one and easily lose focus on what the truly important things are in this life. :(
I pray the weather behaves and you all stay so safe always. Blessings to you. xo
