{ Why I am still blogging }

Day 23

In just 3 short days, I will have been blogging for 20 years.  I can't believe it's been that long, and I don't know how I have managed to hold onto this little slice of the internet for that long, without giving up, walking away, or deleting the blog like so many others have in the past.

Looking back on it, it is a huge achievement.  In a world where everything is so fast paced, and constantly changing from one thing to the next, it is a true testament to stay in place, to hold on to your morals, your values and your roots, so to speak, and not give in to the need for the next new big thing.

When I started this blog I was a young mom, with a 7 and a 3 year old.  Life was hectic, I was trying to find my way, learning as I went, and blogging had just kicked off.  It was my place to come and share my day, to sit and take a breather between blowing noses and giving out snacks.  I was exhausted and needed a way to relax and to be with like minded women.

I started sharing daily posts, never anything super interesting just what we were eating, what I was crocheting, making, thinking doing, my tips and tricks as a homemaker, wife and mother.

Through the years I have changed so much, things I loved I no longer enjoy, things I never thought I would enjoy I now love.  It's funny isn't it, we change so much as we get older, it's like becoming a whole new person at times and trying to learn to live with them.

The one thing that has always remained in my love for sharing my homemaking life, in hopes to inspire or motivate someone to look at their homes as a place of love and hope.  A place that is kept as a haven for the family, and most importantly a place to honor and glorify God.  Everything I do is always with Him in mind and for Him.

I have seen so many others give up on their blogs, just walk away, delete it all and not look back.  I don't think I would ever have the courage to do, because within these pages, in this little corner of the vast internet is a life, a life of 20 years filled with memories, photographs, ups and downs, moves and joys and losses.  And I don't believe that is something to be thrown away, but rather cherished.

October 21, 2012

This blog is filled with so many interesting posts made over the last 20 years and I'm sure if you love homemaking and family as much as I do, you will surely find something here to enjoy reading or looking through.

So why am I still blogging after all these years?  Why not just walk away?

Well, I love sharing my life, I love using this platform to inspire others and I truly believe that God wants me to remain here, doing exactly what I've been doing for al these years, and as long as I feel that pull from Him, I will continue here in this little corner.

I will have a post up on the actual blogiversary on the 6th of February, and will take you back in time to some older posts.  I also want to have a little giveaway on that day, just to say thank you to all my readers who have stuck around for this long.

If that's something that interests you, be sure to come back and check out that post.

I'll end this post with a little snippet of what I have been up to today:

Paid bills
Got my 10k steps in
Did laundry and cleaned the house
Watched some tv
Read a few more pages in my book
Received a few more books in the mail

Now, I have a Walmart delivery that just arrived, so I need to go and grab that from the front door and put it away.

I hope you're all having a blessed Tuesday, if you're a blogger too which I'm assuming most of you are, how long have you been blogging and what keeps you here?  Would love to know ♥

I love it too and you were one of the first blogs I started following regularly and that eventually gave me the courage to start blogging myself! I've met so many amazing folks through blogging and I'm happy to hear you don't intend to stop. Blessings on your continued journey dear Sandra. 💗

Hi Sandra! I remember when I first started blogging (I think it's been 18 years now) and finding your blog, your kids were so young. And here we are, kids growing up but we are still young! :)
I don't think I could ever quit blogging either. It's a diary of sorts and I've met so many wonderful people doing it.
It was good to catch up with you. I'll be back!

I'm glad you're still blogging! I have taken breaks a time or two, but I have never thought to delete my blog. There are just too many memories! It's really a scrapbook of sorts. Sometimes I will go back and look at older post and remember what life was like when my daughter was young. Precious memories! I'll be back to visit again soon.

I enjoy my visits here over the years. I have taken long breaks and even had to start over a time or two. But since 2004, I have always came back at some point. My reasons is I felt led to step away from
Media at times and for long periods. I don’t want to but it is what I always feel led to do. I love and admire bloggers who have hung in there and have created a world of special memories as well to come back and see!! Blogging is special! Can’t wait to come back on your blog anniversary.

Congratulations on your 20 years - amazing! I hope you keep writing for another 20!
My first blog started in April 2013 so only 13 years.

I have been blogging for about that long too, though I wish I would have kept the same page. I started on Xanga, which has been shut down. Then I had a few different ones on Blogger and I'm not sure why I didn't just stick to one on here. I did give Wordpress a try once but didn't like it as much. But like you, I love having this little space on the web. I do enjoy your blog so much and I hope you continue to use it. You definitely bring a space of peace and comfort.

"Through the years I have changed so much, things I loved I no longer enjoy, things I never thought I would enjoy I now love. "--this is true for me as well.
I "met" you way back when I first started blogging (I think it was about 18 years ago--have to check my calendar), I used to follow your Full Bellies, Happy Kids blog and still have many of the recipes you shared.

I started a youtube channel - which I am an introvert, so totally no my element, however, it is only Holy Spirit led and I feel He wanted me to start doing this to spread the Gospel. So that is the main focus... my everyday life with Him... so not a blogger, but a vlogger .... haha

I think it's wonderful that you're still here. I started in 2007. If my kids ever take the time to read my blog, they'll read the story of our life together. Every once in awhile, I'll have a few weeks between posts, but I always come back. It's never been about making money, (good, because I don't), it's about sharing the love of Jesus, the way he's provided for us on a short shoestring budget, and just taken me through it all and grown my faith.
Be blessed!

Congratulations Sandra! I started blogging in 2008, when I was knee deep in homeschooling two boys and needed some like-minded moms to keep me from feeling lonely. I am still friends with a few of those ladies and that's what keeps me coming back - the friends you make. I deleted my original blog and I used to regret that, but I'm not really a person who likes to look back, so it's ok. Every now and then I wonder why I still show up and share my life, but it always comes back to the community. Congratulations again :)
