I'm sick, and not of laundry....

the actual sick, cold, congested sick one. See I can't trust my body to handle something as simple as a trip to an ice cave, which by the way, has a normal temperature between 24 and 27 degrees, no matter how hot it is outside, it could be melting all around it, but that baby is going to stay a nice cool chilly temp.

So we go in there and we had to take coats (right there is a sight to see), yeah, it's over 100 degrees and everyone is walking around with coats on preparing to head into the cave. But anyway, going back to my story.....we went in the cave and it actually felt really good, I was enjoying the coolness inside after the oven we had come from. After we left the cave we get hit with this wave of heat, the kind that makes you want to drop to your knees and in an exagerated voice start chanting "Water, Water".

The minute we walked out I said to mom "boy I hope this doesn't mess up my sinus or make me sick". Well I might as well have invited the sinus and the cold to enter me, right there and then. I got home and had a bit of a sniffle, Jasmine on the other hand felt a little warm and was sooo congested that she had a hard time going to sleep.
This morning I woke up with a sinus headache, I've got the sniffles, I'm congested, and I'm sneezing every 5 minutes.....*sigh*. Oh well, what can we do, just get through it and be content in the fact that it was worth it right???

I took some medicine and then sat here at the computer trying to read some blogs but I think I only managed to visit the first 5 on my list before my eyes started hurting my nose....does that even make any sense?!?!?! Your eyes hurt and it hurts your sinus, there I think that explains it better (though I still don't understand it).
I went ahead and decided to go check out my Paperbackswap account since I had 3 credits available (3 books for free). This is what I got:

I'm really looking forward to reading all 3, but I think the one by Col. O'Leary is the one I'm really eager to start on. We all know that God is at work in our lives and it's always amazing to hear stories of how he has intervened or guided us and kept us from harm. Well what Col. O'Leary has done, is write a book about powerful personal war stories from America's beginnings through September 11th. Being a military family, it's just something we're looking forward to reading.

Well I wish I could stay here longer, I do miss visiting everyone and blogging as I usually do, but we have family and since I don't feel well either, it's time to bid my goodbye, say my Adieu, you know, the whole Au Revoir, Adeus, Totsiens blah blah blah. LOL

I'm off to start our grill and have us a BBQ, and for dessert we have some Jelly Rolls, check out the recipe on my food blog if you wish :)

I'M POOPED?!?!?! CAN I SAY THAT?!?!?

We left for the Shoshone Ice Caves this morning, it was about an hours drive from home so we had the usual kid questions "Are we there yet?" and "how close are we?", you know how it is, doesn't matter how far you're going they still want to get there like, yesterday.

Nicholas had a bit of a hard time at one point in the trip, it seems he sometimes gets car sick (something he must have picked up from me, poor kid). So I had to go sit in the backseat with him while he rested his head on my shoulder and tried to take a nap.......let me tell you something, the backseats of trucks are NOT comfortable. Not only are they way too straight, but I had to keep my legs either wide open or pushed together with my knees almost to my chest. What a pretty picture that paints doesn't it? LOL
Needless to say, I'm really sore right now, my lower back is just killing me.

Anyway, the Ice Caves were fun to see, we had a pretty young guide, she didn't look older than 18, but she was really sweet and I have to envy her petite thin body. How frustrating is that? She's going on and on about the ice in the caves and all I could think was "you make me SICK, I want to be that thin" LOL
Then I had another idea (and all this while on the tour), maybe I should become a guide, this girl has to climb up and down stairs and climb rocks every hour for 45 minutes, no wonder she's that thin. NAH, I better stick to what I already do!!!!

So here are some of the pictures I took, couldn't get too many because I was scared of either dropping the camera in the ice, or slipping and falling in myself......the little wooden bridge thingy we were on was kinda slippery and wobbly too. I'm surprised that with my usual claustrophobic feelings, I didn't freak out in the cave, although I DID look up a few times and think "Oh man, if this thing caves in I'm a goner".

We really did have a lot of fun and the kids enjoyed seeing the dinosaur and the ice caves. I have to tell you I was surprised because I had thought that the cave floor would be covered in ice but that underneath it would be rock.....but no, actually it's about 15 to 20 feet deep solid ice where you can actually stand on. I wouldn't test that theory though because with my luck....well you know, I would find that ONE spot that actually melted LOL

Oh and if you love antiques and old stuff, you will really enjoy the antique store outside, if I had taken cash with me, I think I would have walked away with a LOT of things. I did get a rain stick that my wonderful hubby got for me....he knows how much I love them, so he surprised me with one when I returned from the dreaded porta potty....EWWWWWW!!!! That's all I'll say to that!!!

And that's it, we spent the day on the road, driving to and from the Ice Caves, on the tour and now we're home and going to start a game of Back Alley Bridge and THEN I'm heading to bed, this girl is getting way too old to stay up so late, must be because I'm turning 32 next week.......ahhhh I remember the days I would so look forward to August 10 and now it's a day like any other for me.......is that how it is from now on, I mean the minute you hit 30 you stop caring about birthday's right???? Say right, or otherwise I may have to think that I'm not normal, well, whatever being normal means nowadays LOL

My sides hurt from laughing so much.......

See I told you yesterday that the minute I get together with my family or the in laws, we laugh and laugh until our sides hurt. We are just nutty, funny people and there's always bound to be someone saying or doing something silly (not even intentional) to make everyone else just break into laughter.

It's been wonderful having MIL and BIL here, what a blast!!! We play a lot of games, but I would say our favorite is Back Alley Bridge. The first time I actually played was when visiting my in laws in Oklahoma....it was my father in law's favorite game, something he had been playing since he was in the marines. I vividly remember sitting at the table with them and he asked me to be his partner (oh yeah, that's gonna be fun lol)....I tried to say no because I'd never played the game but he insisted and taught me how to play, but everytime I would pull out a card he would either give me a funny look or say "Why are you playing THAT?!?!?" and then start laughing LOL It was just hilarious but it's one of my fondest memories about dad :)

There's just one thing that I'm not used to, and that is the staying up late playing games or chatting, and everytime family comes to visit that is exactly what we do. I get so frustrated with myself because by 10pm I'm literally struggling to keep my eyes open and then I get into that delirious drunk like state of mind. You know the one right???? You're so tired and everything becomes funny, you even slurr you're words.....that's quite sad to think that the only way I get some sort of buzz is by staying up late LOL

We have nothing planned for today, just going to hang out again and have fun, but tomorrow we're heading to Twin Falls to see the Shoshone Falls and the Shoshone Ice Caves....the kids are excited just because they heard that there is a HUGE dinosaur statue thing outside the caves LOL Funny how such little things can get them excited huh?

I'll post the pics when we get back from the trip, right now we're heading out to the bowling alley, guess I should grab the camera for that too LOL

It's so great having family visiting......

You know it's one of the best feelings when you have family over and you can all just hang out and have fun. Curt and I were just talking about it on the way to the airport, because I was saying that when I'm with my family or his family is when I actually laugh until my sides hurt....you know the kind, you can't breathe and you just laugh and laugh. What a great feeling!!!

Being military we are constantly on the move and don't have family living next door or just down the street, it's tough at times, especially when there's something going on in your life and you would like to have some help or even just someone nearby to talk to. Anyway, my MIL and BIL arrived yesterday afternoon and then we all headed to Chili's for some dinner........can I say YUM????
It's my favorite place to eat at, it's inexpensive and the food is just deliscious.

Our friends left this morning, it's the one thing about military life that always gets to me. You do make a lot of new friends and meet new people, but you're also constantly having to say goodbye to old friends. Life continues though, and we deal with it one day at a time. :)
Just hope they make a safe trip, I don't envy them being on the road for the next 6 days with 3 kids......so if you could say a little prayer for them to have a good and safe trip, please?

I know I haven't been here as much as I would like to, but you all understand right? I miss seeing everyone's blogs though and chatting, but I guess that will have to wait a bit, guess my blog is being put on the back burner for now. So if you haven't seen me commenting on my usual blog hangouts, don't panic, I'LL BE BACK *said in schwarzeneger voice*

I was just thinking that I didn't get to participate in the WFMW today, but honestly I couldn't really think of anything that makes my life easier, I've pretty much shared all my shortcuts, tips and handy dandy things in my life.....I'm running out of ideas though.

The kids are hanging out with grandma right now, having fun and playing, it's always wonderful seeing the joy in their faces when they know their grandma and uncle are coming to visit. So they're spending a lot of time with her, my BIL and hubby are playing games on the Playstation, and I took this time to sit down and quickly write my post.

We don't have anything planned for tomorrow, just talking and playing games. Did I ever tell you that my hubby's family is big into playing card and board games???? It's just so much fun, we get together and instantly the games appear, it's something we've passed onto our kids too and they're very competitive but also great loosers....they've learnt how to shake hands and say "Great Game" even if they loose, something my father in law did ALL the time :)

So as you can see, nothing much is going on here, I'm just extremely grateful to God for the time he gives us with our families, it may not be long but it's always the best.

TACKLE IT TUESDAY!!! August 1st

Since I'm going to be out all day today, I tackled my project yesterday. Wanna know what it is???
MY HOUSE!!!!

Yep not just one single room, or a drawer, or maybe even a yard....no, that's too normal for me, I have to deviate from the norm just because....well, just because I'm ME. LOL
I'm doing the whole house, and why you may ask? Because I have family coming in this morning, and yesterday I had to watch my friends kids the whole day which meant by the time they left, at 6pm, THAT is when I was able to get my house cleaned and ready for company.

So what happens when you mix 5 kids and two dogs??? Although I shouldn't even mention the dogs, the poor things didn't do anything but try to stay out of the kids way. It's not like I caught them playing with a toy LOL
But this is what you find......

Not a pretty sight huh???? I had to set the 1 year old down in the middle of that chaos so I could grab my camera LOL
In the meantime, my hubby was busy with the upstairs bathroom, removing the old sealant and adding new one, so my bathroom looked like this.


Not exactly what you want to see when you know it's 6pm and you have family arriving early the next morning.

After the kids left, hubby and I got to work on the house and trying to get everything done, well apart from some little things that I need to finish off this morning. But at least those 3 rooms look like this now. MUCH BETTER!!!!!

Not perfect but hey, it's a lived in house, we can't have Martha Stewartish rooms around here, that would just be silly LOL (for us at least)
