Grocery Haul

Alrighty ladies, I'm back with a Grocery Haul and a Menu Plan for the next two weeks.

I did my grocery shopping at the commissary, as usual, and stayed under budget at $246, even though I did buy a few extra bits and bobs for Christmas baking and a few treats for us too.

I think next year I might switch to recording my grocery hauls with video, might be a little easier because this way I have to take so many pictures and just feels like a bit more work, but I don't mind, just saying that maybe I'll try vlogging the hauls from January forward.

Let me show you what I bought.  1 box of corndogs, 2 boxes of pizza rolls for kid lunches, brown sugar and honey sausages for breakfast, 2 packs of hotdogs, mixed veggies, stir fry mix, dinosaur shaped nuggets

Grocery Haul

1 gallon of milk, white chocolate raspberry creamer, whipped cream cheese, chicken thighs, pork loin, pepperoni panini as a special treat for hubby and I, beef and cheese chimichangas, spinach

Grocery Haul

2 packs of shredded cheese, sliced cheddar cheese, romaine lettuce, leek, tangerines, 2 avocados

Grocery Haul

Texas giant bread loaf, pumpkin spice loaf, raisin cinnamon loaf, hotdog buns, plain and cinnamon raisin bagels

Grocery Haul

Macaroni and cheese, 2 beef ravioli, one bacon cheddar chicken pasta, one buffalo chicken pasta, chicken noodle soup, chicken and dumplings and tomato basil soup.  I've been craving tomato soup and it's so weird because I've never liked it.

Grocery Haul

Ramen noodles, as always for kid lunches

Grocery Haul

Chili for hotdogs, actually bought 2 cans but couldn't find the second one until much later, it had fallen in the trunk of the car.  2 pasta sauces, cannelini beans, 2 tomato sauce, one diced tomatoes, 2 tuna cans for tuna salad for lunches, pineapple slices for homemade pizza

Grocery Haul

Stir Fry mix for one meal, bacon pieces for salad, macaroni pasta, rigatoni pasta

Grocery Haul

2 wildberry muffin mixes, 2 banana nut muffin mixes

Grocery Haul

Pepperoni for pizza, roasted garlic hummus, butter and grapes

Grocery Haul

Nescafe instant coffee, Folgers toasted hazelnut ground coffee, ranch dressing, 4 aero mint bars as a treat for us, sage, garlic powder, oregano, mincemeat for me to make mincemeat pies for Christmas and Weetabix for me for breakfast
Grocery Haul

Taco shells, chicken in a biskit crackers, slim jim sticks for hubby and son, twinkies, goldfish and a summer sausage for hubby, he loves these

Grocery Haul

4 advent calendars, 2 for the kids and 2 for the hubby and I.  Tortilla chips to eat with the hummus, 2 bags of cheddar fries for me and Jasmine, kettle cooked chips and mini pretzels

Grocery Haul

3 bags of dog treats, 2 beef flavor and a science diet peanut butter and banana.  Oxi clean for the dishwasher (I am really liking these, they are actually getting the dishes clean), trash bags, kleenex, cotton balls, paper towel rack, method cleaner, nail polish remover, deodorant, lever soap bars and toilet paper

Grocery Haul

Last, I picked up these miniature roses.  I'm missing having plants around and had to leave them all back in Idaho, so figured I could start up my collection again.

Grocery Haul

It wasn't a very big haul, I still had ground beef, steak and sausage in the freezer from last week that we didn't get to eat as we were eating Thanksgiving leftovers.

I'll share the menu plan for the next two weeks tomorrow, I wanted to include it in this post but I left it in the other room and I have the worst headache right now and really don't want to get back up again.  You obviously can't see me, but I'm typing this up from my bed, it's been a crazy busy day with my washer deciding to flood my kitchen, and hubby and I having to run around all day trying to fix it....but that's a story for tomorrow, I promise I'll share in a day in the life post for Monday :)

Hope you enjoyed the grocery haul, let me know how you do your groceries, do you shop just at one specific store or do you go to a few different ones, do you use coupons, price match, and what is your budget like when it comes to food?

Thank you for posting your grocery haul. It helps give me ideas for my menu. You have inspired me to go back to shopping every two weeks. I have tried weekly, two weeks and monthly. I feel I just save the most when it is every two weeks. Tomorrow is my shopping day:) Thanks again.

It's always fun to get menu ideas from what you share Hon! Glad you had lovely family time - but great having you back. ;) I get a kick out of seeing similarities in what we like too. I got those same honey sausages & coffee creamer last time & my daughter lives for goldfish crackers. Lol
Blessings on your week ahead. XO

Looks like a pretty decent haul. I don't shop at the commissary, as it is too insane around here for me. I just hit the local food lion, walmart, and bj's for our grocery needs.

I hope you have a great day!

I love reading these grocery haul posts and I think the idea of vlogging them is awesome! I'd definitely watch. I usually shop at multiple stores since I have to travel about 20 min. to do my major shopping, anyway. I do Aldi, Sam's Club, Shop Rite, and Walmart.

I too love these posts. It's so fun! We don't live close to a store so I usually shop every 2-4 weeks. Our milk and eggs are delivered every week though and thanks to you I now know that milk can be frozen. I use coupons and match them with store sales as much as I can. Thanks for sharing, I really look forward to these posts!

I shop at one store...occasionally Walmart for what I cannot find.
In the city only at Crest...now getting used to HEB and have vowed (to hubby) only to get what is needed even when I have coupons as I tend to do too much stocking up.
I use both in store & manufacture coupons and save a lot especially when over buying!

Is it bad to say that i'm relieved to see you don't cook ALL your amazing meals from scratch that look like they belong in a magazine!? lol!! Our grocery budget is sky high... 3 out of the 6 of us have food allergies, so 'safe' food is crazy expensive. I eat very simple for myself, but for 2 of my allergic kids, I buy GF stuff, peanut/treenut safe foods, etc... it adds up. A head of cauliflower here yesterday was $6.97!! :( It's brutal...

maybe give periscope a try. It's an app for the smartphone and does require you to have a twitter account, but it's live video sharing and if you use katch.me with it you can you have instant archive of the video to share, download, and edit for other purposes.

I'm trying to think of a way to revamp my way of doing groceries. The way I'm doing it now is just so much work all in one trip. Mine gets a bit more complicated because I not only feed my family but a half dozen dayhome kids as well.
