{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 07/11/2022 }

Good morning sweet ladies, how are you all doing today?

I sure hope you are well, rested and ready for the week ahead.

It is another beautiful albeit hot day here in Texas.  We are needing rain so desperately, our farmland is struggling, our ponds and rivers are running dry.  Please keep our State in your prayers. I am trying to get back on track with a few things.

I have a mile long list of blog posts I need to get out, recipes I need to put on the food blog, sewing projects I am really itching to get into, and so forth.  This heat however, leaves me not wanting to move a single inch. But, we are going to push through it and get going.

Hope you all have a wonderful blessed week ahead, now let's get right on with today's Happy Homemaker Monday!

♥♥ The Weather ♥♥
Horribly hot, just uncomfortably hot.  We had a random storm the other night, but it lasted just one hour and was not enough to quench the plants, trees, rivers and so on.  Really hoping for some rain and hopefully cooler temperatures.  Actually, I'll be honest, I am hoping for Fall to just sweep in and save us all.

♥♥  Thinking and pondering ♥♥
On everything I want to do.  Lots of projects swirling around my head, and I just want to get them out of the brain and into my hands.

♥♥  How am I feeling ♥♥
Really good, had a wonderful weekend with my hubby and children.  With everyone's different schedules, it's hard to find the time to have all 4 sitting at the dinner table.  Saturday we were able to sit outside, eat a yummy barbecue dinner and then swim, all 4 of us.  It was wonderful.

♥♥  On the breakfast plate ♥♥
My stomach is a bit off, I think I had too much soda this past weekend.  So for breakfast, I had about half a cup of coffee (couldn't handle anymore), and just one piece of toast.

♥♥   On the lunch plate ♥♥
Not sure, depends on how my stomach is feeling later. I may just stick to some plain buttered white rice, or I may have a tuna salad.

♥♥  On the dinner plate ♥♥
Chicken Strogonoff, Mashed Potatoes, Baked Creamy Cauliflower

 ♥♥  What I'm wearing  ♥♥

♥♥  Looking around the house  ♥♥
We have figured out, with help from the vet, that Kaia suffers from separation anxiety.  Due to her being moved from foster home to foster home.  It is ok when we are home with her, but the minute we leave the house, she gets quite antsy, and destructive. It's not something we've had to deal with before, none of our other pets did this.

The difference being that we got all our other pets around 8 weeks old.  Kaia however was 4 months old when we got her.  I've been working hard at figuring out how to best deal with her anxiety.....and so far what has finally worked, is to close off certain areas in the house and leave her just access to the dining room/kitchen and living room. I also turn on the tv and put on a random show or cartoon, sometimes just the radio playing.

Then I take her toys and spread them out all over the living room.  Having something to chew on (her toys), means she won't be looking for things she shouldn't be having.  She has destroyed a couple of shoes and chewed up a couch pillow from an old couch chair we were getting rid of (thank goodness it wasn't the other newer couches). So, all that to say, I left this morning for about 45 minutes, so now I have a living room filled with toys everywhere, which I need to pick up.

♥♥  To Do List ♥♥
- Pick up all the toys
- Wash the big living room rug and set it outside to dry
- Feed my new sourdough starter
- Start a new Amish Friendship Bread Starter
- Vacuum and dust
- Pay bills
- Look up fabric for sewing project I want to start
- Post office this afternoon
- Make egg salad sandwiches, for the fridge

♥♥  From the camera  ♥♥
Current review book, that I am absolutely loving.

♥♥  Devotional  ♥♥
We want life to work according to our will and conform to our plan.  This desire to be at the center never goes anywhere good, personally or relationally.  Self- centeredness is at the core of sin's dysfunction, another powerful evidence of our need for rescuing grace.

Prayers that rain comes your way soon!! And I'm so glad that Kaia has such a wonderful Mommy to help work with her to help her deal with her anxieties. I knew someone that had similar issues of a dog being destructive while they were away and they used to take a strong "kong" brand toy and fill it with peanut butter and freeze it. When they would be gone they would put it out and the cold allowed it to last a long time for their dog to lick at it and work at getting at the treat.
Agree that These precious summer days that are wonderful with loved ones time are the best! I hope you get lots more of them Love. And I hope your belly feels better. Blessings. xo

I had just ordered the weekly gratitude, the weekly faith and the weekly prayer project books! So glad to hear you're loving it. Have you tried some old family videos playing a loop where Kaia would be hearing your voices? Praying you get some rain and relief from the horrible heat soon! Even here we're so much dryer than normal making me worry about fire season. Have a great rest of the week.
