Happy Homemaker Monday - 04/21/2025

Good morning ladies, welcome back to my blog.  How was your Easter weekend?  I sure hope you had a blessed, wonderful time with your family.

My weekend was good but very busy, and as I sit here this early morning, I can't help but think that I am already exhausted going into the new week, and kind of wish my weekend had been slower, but it's ok.  We make do, right?

Coming up this week, I have Jasmine's birthday on Friday.  She is turning 26.  My word, if you've been following me since the beginning, you will remember a little red haired girl full of energy and beans as we like to say Hahahah
How can she be turning 26?  It's crazy!

Anyway, so coming up this week, a birthday, grocery shopping, more spring cleaning and more crocheting.  I can't wait to show you what I've been working on, hopefully it will be finished today.

So, that's basically it, let's move on with our post for today.

Have a blessed week friends ♥

The weather in my neck of the woods:::
We had some strong storms this weekend and the first Tornado watch of the year.  It's that time again.  Looking forward to a beautiful Spring day today, followed by a week of storms and more rain.

Monday - Sunny, 81
Tuesday - Sunny, 85
Wednesday - Scattered thunderstorms, 79
Thursday - Thunderstorms, 78
Friday - Thunderstorms, 77
Saturday - Thunderstorms, 71
Sunday - Scattered Thunderstorms, 79

As I look outside my window:::
The big soapberry tree is right outside my bedroom window.  Right now, the sun is shining so brightly on it's new, green leaves, that it has turned them a golden color.  It looks absolutely stunning!

Right now I am:::
Working on this post, while still sitting in bed.  It is that time of the month, and the first day is usually the roughest for me, I have cramps, lower back pain and a slight headache, which means my morning is just very slowly inching by.  I'm enjoying the warmth of my covers as long as I possibly can, while Kaia and Elliott sleep next to me.

Something fun to share (a blog, a video, a tip):::
We have a store in town called Entertainmart.  It's one of those fun places filled with movies, cds, books, games, retro figures and such.  One of the favorite places for people like us who enjoy games and old things etc.  They are unfortunately closing for good in May, so they're having a huge sale.

We happened upon the news of the closure, by accident, as we were looking for some comic books for Jasmine's birthday, which she had requested.  Every single book in the store is on sale for 99c.  Of course I left with 10 books in hand, and do plan on going back soon to see what else I can grab.  But while we were there, Curt walked up to me with something in hand and said "Here, I saw this and immediately thought you would want it."

And oh my word, I let out a squeal.  It's something I have been wanting for a while and could not believe that he had found it.  A Jane Austen Puzzle, or more specifically The World of Jane Austen in puzzle form.

Thinking and pondering:::
Nothing in particular.  Just some crocheting projects, lots of crochet on my brain lately.

On my bedside table:::
My empty cup of coffee, a wonderful mist spray that Jasmine got me, and a bottle of water.

On my tv:::
Homemaking vlogs
Book vlogs

Listening to:::
A squirrel running back and forth between my two bedroom windows.
Baby chicks chirping in the office
Bedroom window is open so at the moment there are birds chirping, a car off in the distance, my roosters crowing at the same time and the squeals of the squirrel.

On the menu for this week:::
New meal plan will go into effect on Wednesday.

Monday - Chicken Fricassee, Basmati Rice, Roasted Acorn Squash
Tuesday - Pesto Shrimp Pasta, Salad
Wednesday
Thursday
Friday
Saturday
Sunday

On my to do list:::
Change Bed linens
Water plants
Daily Bible reading and daily decree
Finish my crochet project and start another

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
I set the Cosmic Blanket aside.  I can't work on a huge blanket constantly because I start getting bored.  So my big blankets sometimes take me a while to complete.  This one is being set aside for now.  I've reached for a smaller project which I saw the other day and just knew I had to make.   I will share with you in tomorrow's post.

My simple pleasure:::
Looking through books at stores.  Whether it's a library, a used book store, or whatever store it may be that has a shelf or shelves lined with books, you'll find me there.  I could stay for hours and just go through them all.

Looking around the house:::
At the moment, it is fully awakening.  The sun is out, the windows are all open  and curtains have been pulled back.  It needs a little TLC this morning, after our family Easter dinner yesterday, and of course my nieces's littles were here, and when you put a 2 year old and a 6 year old together, throw in some Easter baskets with fake grass and eggs, you end up with a fun but messy aftermath.  hahahha

From the camera:::
I have quite a collection of blue and white Pyrex dishes.  Some may not give much importance to these, but I just love them, and will hold on to them as long as I can.  They're also super expensive if you find them in antique or thrift stores, so to me, it makes them even more special.

Bible verse, Devotional:::
Psalms 16: 9-10

Oh my, 26? When did that happen? I remember that little red haired girl like it was just yesterday! Happy Birthday Jasmine!!

That Jane Austen puzzle was quite a find! So sweet of Curt. Seems like so many small businesses are closing up these days. We've lost quite a few around here also.

My mom still has her original blue and white cornflower pyrex as well as many odd additional pieces (loaf pan, pie dish...) I've given her as gifts over the years. It sure is durable!

I hope your week is wonderful and tornado watch free!

We jumped in on the puzzle world last winter. We just bought two more to do, but we have less "sitting" time this time of year too. Have a nice week.

That puzzle is amazing! Jasmine is the same age as my youngest son :) I can relate to your love of books. Since going to work at the library, I've started a list of all the books I'll need to read over the years and it's getting longer and longer as the days go by! I would buy books every week if the budget allowed :)
