House Tour

Crape Myrtle

Well, we've been moved in for a little over a month and I thought it high time that I bring you all in, and show you the new house.

I'll do it a bit at a time, spread out through a few posts.  Today, the kitchen, pantry and laundry area, and the living room.

So come on in.....

As you come into the house, the first thing you'll see when you turn to your right, is my living room.  My mint green living room.

I have to show you what it looked like when I first arrived, to say that I hated the pink and green strip curtains would be an understatement. I honestly don't get the color combo and that was one of the first things I had to get rid of.

Removed the ugly ones and put in my sheer curtains.  Immediately changed the look and feel of the room.

Living room

I wasn't very thrilled with the green, it wasn't a color that I would usually go for on the walls, but now that my stuff is in, I'm quite chuffed with it.

On either side of the couch against the wall, I'll be placing two tables made out of tree stumps.  It's a project I've wanted to do for a very long time and luckily enough for me, this house has tons of stumps all over the grounds.

Moving into the kitchen.  The yellow paint remains, I haven't had the time or the money to invest in paint, there are a lot of things we're trying to catch up on when it comes to payments, especially after our car breaking down etc.

Kitchen

I do love this kitchen, it is so open and has so many cupboards and storage space.  My previous kitchens, both on base and off, have been tiny, with very small areas which forced me to have a lot of my kitchen gadgets in storage.
Kitchen

In this kitchen, I'm able to have everything out, packed in the cupboards and I still have cupboards that are quite bare.  That makes me quite happy.

And I have a pantry, an actual pantry.

Pantry

Looking into the pantry from the kitchen

Pantry

It is a work in progress.  But look at these shelves for the cans, they angle down and have a lip at the end to keep them from falling out.  That is SO neat.

Pantry

I can tell that the kids have been in the pantry, it needs reorganizing.

Pantry

But I have so much room.  I placed some of my cookbooks in here for now to get them out of the boxes, but my idea is to actually put them above the kitchen cupboards, going all the way around.

I'll have to try it though because I may not like them once they're up there.

Coming out of the pantry, let me show you my laundry area.

No more doing laundry in the basement, in the garage and in dark cold places.  I finally have the area inside the house which is something I always wanted.

Laundry

I so love that the doors close when it's not being used.

Laundry

How cool is the sink in the middle?  I use it to soak stained items overnight, usually my kitchen towels before throwing them in the wash.

I also really like the curtain rod above which makes it so much easier when I remove shirts and hubby's work pants from the dryer and before ironing.

Overall, I'm so pleased with this house, it really does feel like home to me.

I don't know if I'll be able to continue the house tour tomorrow as my in laws are arriving in the morning and we have a lot to do in preparation for this weekend.  I do plan on taking photos and still putting up a normal post though, so you can at least expect that :)

I best get on out of here, have some bills to pay and last menu plans to finish up.

Oh Sandra, I love it! That laundry area is to die for and that green in the living room really does look good with your things in there. I can't wait to see your end tables project.

So nice! How handy to have that sink by the laundry, and I am so jealous of that pantry!

Love your home, especially the huge kitchen! I have a pantry too and it is great being my kitchen is quite small. I know what you mean about doing laundry in the basement-that's where I have to go and I will not do laundry at night for just that reason-LOL!

Have a wonderful 4th with family, can't wait for the home tour to continue and thank you once again for inviting us in.

Wow, your pantry is huge!
My laundry room is in the basement so I can imagine how much you must love having your washer and dryer steps away!

I'm liking your house so far. The mint green room looks SO much better without those pink curtains.

I love your home Sandra..
So beautiful and cozy..
I love your kitchen, In India we are always having shortage of space and so we just cannot have a pantry. We have to keep all our things in our cupboards and so I feel you are so lucky to have a pantry plus a huge kitchen.
Waiting eagerly to see more of your kitchen pictures when you cook and the day to day.

Love the peek!! And your home is so charming and looks just lovely. YOu're so right about how changing that drapery and adding your own cozy touches made that mint green look like night and day. It's actually a really pretty neutral now with all of your pretty things and helps them stand out.

Your kitchen is so wonderfully big!! And I envy your pantry so much!! I've always wanted one. ::sigh:: We have pantry cabinets but definitely not the same thing. Yours is set up so cool too!!

The laundry area looks like a great set up too! Love it all. ;)

HOpe you had a wonderful 4th and are enjoying time with family. Can't wait to see more.

I love how your sheers mellowed the green paint - looks like you actually painted. I hope you had a great 4th with the family.

Everything is looking lovely! Paint colors will come but I think you've done wonderfully with what you have. I'm a wee bit jealous of your pantry!! I have never had one.
